I think the outdated book on Pelfrey is that you have to try to rattle him, which I don't believe works anymore. Ross may have been overacting on purpose.

actually, i take that close call back. ross dropped his bat while writhing on the ground. he picks it up again before he starts sprinting, like he was jose offerman or something.

I think the fake charge is a close call. Folks can check it out if they go to the scoreboard page for Aug 10 on mlb.com and click on the top of the fifth to engage the clickable linescore feature (It occurs about 10 min, 20 sec into the inning). Watching the archived video, I think the Shea crowd thought he was charging at first; they get loud as he he gets off his back, bat still in hand as he begins to sprint. Whatever the case, Ross definitely let's out the loudest cry for a guy hit by a pitch I've ever heard, a "B-yawh" like Dave Chappelle imitating Howard Dean.

I think he was frustrated because this was the second game in a row that he was hit my Pelfrey.

This does not excuse his reaction. In both cases it was unintentiona.

unrelated, but the brewers can shut up about the one-hit, no-hit controversy. They sound like a bunch of whiny Cody Rosses
