by Regis Courtemanche

Today’s game against the Phillies has been postponed due to the imminent storm.

The game will be played tomorrow, as part of a day-night doubleheader, starting at 2:15 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday’s game will be honored for tomorrow’s afternoon game, which will air on SNY.

In fact, tomorrow’s game on SNY will be presented by SNY.tv, and will feature a variety of ways for fans to interact between MetsBlog.com, SNY.tv and the SNY booth – stay tuned for details.

Does anyone have tickets for the 8pm game that wants to trade for the 2:15pm? Over Mets Ticket Transfer would be easiest, but I could also meet somewhere today or tomorrow morning.

My (Saturday) tickets are in UR 19, if your tickets are better I’m happy to pay the difference.

Email me at atlantablackcrackers@gmail.com (my fantasy team, also a negro league team)

thanks!

backinbusiness September 6, 2008 at 11:38 am

just editing to add that i have 2 tickets. sorry for the oversight.

backinbusiness September 6, 2008 at 3:56 pm

Thanks Mets fans, I made the trade. Lets Go Mets!

grub247 September 6, 2008 at 11:27 am

MercuryMetsIn3008 September 6, 2008 at 11:28 am

ravi3 September 6, 2008 at 11:30 am

I’ve got 4 tickets for the 2:15 game, in UR, Section 8, Row S, and I’m looking to trade up to the 8pm game….If you’ve only got 2 or 3 tickets to trade, thats ok too…

Email me at ravikirtane@gmail.com if interested.

ravi3 September 6, 2008 at 3:17 pm

I’ve actually traded all 4 tickets earlier today

dominicanboy08 September 6, 2008 at 11:42 am

I have two tickets for the sunday night game. they are behind homeplate in Upper Reserve section 8, row F seats 1 and 2.

well.. if santana is pitching in the first game, we can do a trade. I want to see him pitch

XbLaDe31 September 6, 2008 at 11:54 am

Are they going to change the pitching match ups for tomorrow?? I hope not i want to see santana pitch the 8pm game thats the one i have tickets to.

dominicanboy08 September 6, 2008 at 11:56 am

IDK yet. yea I want to see him pitch. thats why I bought the sunday night tickets. we will have to wait and see

ridethesnake September 6, 2008 at 1:08 pm

Both pitchers are better during the day historically. Even tho Johan gives us a better chance to win the important second game of the series (I don’t want him pitching to avoid a sweep), Pedro’s day/night splits this year are worse than ever. For their career, both have given up a half run less in the day (I wonder if that is tyical?), but this year Pedro is 2.67 day ERA and 6.15 night ERA.

Also, the greedy side of me wants to give Pedro the day so if we win, Johan is to go up 4 games.

The other side wants Johan to stop the minor bleeding of the one game slide — it starts minor…

krispy644 September 6, 2008 at 11:53 am

off topic people….

but I read an artilcle about the possibility that Luis Castillo could be shopped this offseason and Orlando Hudson might be the replacement via free agency. If the Mets can pull that off, it will be a miracle lol. though a little worried about the injury factor too, but it is to his wrist rather than his legs like Castillo. but I would take the risk, but I guarantee Hudson would be looking for a lengthy contract as well since Luis got 4 years and maybe even for more money. and Hudson is a all around better player that Castillo, which makes it even more difficult to give him a contract.

krispy644 September 6, 2008 at 11:58 am

the other option would be Daniel Murphy to be the everyday 2nd baseman if Castillo is traded, which makes more sense if the Mets dont want to sign a big time FA like Hudson. but Murphy is then going to need to really bust it out at 2nd then during spring training.

their wont be that much value for Castillo anyway if he’s traded, something is better than nothing for a guy who walks on crutches.

DjDeF September 6, 2008 at 5:33 pm

Omar has already asked Murphy to play in the AFL after the season as a 2b. Murphy’s response has been Omar I am a hitter. Basically saying he will play any position in order to be on the team

Joe Bacci September 6, 2008 at 11:59 am

… and with that the Jerry Manual’s streak of infallibility comes to an end.

khmustache September 6, 2008 at 12:13 pm

i’m so disillusioned….

ridethesnake September 6, 2008 at 1:11 pm

Actually, Manuel loses a lot of games, it’s his ability to get the team right back off the mat that has been impressive — and his answer to the potential letdowns from last year and early this year. It’s inevitable that this team will lose games, like any team, but they are magnified because of last year. The only way to avoid disaster is to not only accept the losses, but use them to your advantage.

Not that last night was a tough loss, but since it’s the Phils it wasn’t great either.

ridethesnake September 6, 2008 at 1:12 pm

I just realized you meant his weather prediction.

Joe Bacci September 6, 2008 at 2:47 pm

there you go, i enjoyed your post anyway ;)

eddie kranepool society September 6, 2008 at 12:03 pm

I have 4 tickets in the Upper Deck Section 40 Box 852a seats 1-4 for the 8 pm game I would love to trade for the 2PM game or if you want to buy the tickets for face value ($39) I can do that too

Email me at sinymets@aol.com

“In fact, tomorrow’s game on SNY will be presented by SNY.tv, and will feature a variety of ways for fans to interact between MetsBlog.com, SNY.tv and the SNY booth – stay tuned for details.”

What does this mean!? I’m so curious!

XbLaDe31 September 6, 2008 at 2:30 pm

SNY carries the afternoon game — tickets for Game 68 apply — and ESPN carries the evening games, when tickets for Game 69 are appropriate. The SNY coverage will be presented with limited commercial breaks from the first inning to the top of the sixth inning. From the bottom of the sixth inning to the final out, the game will be commercial-free.

Thats according to mets.com

Metsfan309 September 6, 2008 at 12:09 pm

This is really off-topic but…
I found a pelf jersey in the team store in shea.
It was a replica but it had all the correct lettering.
I couldn’t buy it there I didnt have any money left.
I can’t find it online.
Anyone know where to find a jersey like that?

dominicanboy08 September 6, 2008 at 12:13 pm

khmustache September 6, 2008 at 12:15 pm

Ceetar September 6, 2008 at 3:46 pm

I don’t know which you mean, but there a couple of ‘customizable’ ones on mlb.shop that have all the correct stuff.

SuicideWatch September 6, 2008 at 12:18 pm

Jimmy Rollin quotes:

When told what Schmidt said about the Mets knowing the Phillies are a better team, Rollins bluntly stated: “Well, that part’s true.”

“But if we win all three games, naturally, they’re gonna think back to [last year]. It’s just human nature.”

OK, it’s time to plant a fastball in his brain.

khmustache September 6, 2008 at 12:22 pm

he doesn’t meet the pre-reqs

ridethesnake September 6, 2008 at 1:13 pm

nice one

shea_guevara September 6, 2008 at 12:35 pm

You think most of the Phillies even know/care who Mike Schmidt is?

MikePhan September 6, 2008 at 12:39 pm

Schmidt is a spring training instructor and is around the team very often. Of course they care.

Bogar September 6, 2008 at 1:10 pm

Well, if Billy Wagner knows who Gary Carter is, then presumably some Phillies know Mike Schmidt…his name is all over the stadium including a giant statue.

toomanyuniforms September 6, 2008 at 3:58 pm

Ooooh. . . . “Mike Phan” speaks. So clever — you’ve replaced an “f” with the diagraph “ph”, to establish a connection with the team. Genius!!!!

Anyway, what one win will do for some frontrunning fans. . . A few T-shirts and jerseys getting dusted off, I’m guessing. Speaking of “dusted”, tune in tomorrow, Phillie “phan,” for your “phaves” to get “phlattened”

dave27 September 6, 2008 at 6:22 pm

I can’t wait until the day Jimmy Rollins realizes his team didn’t win anything last year.

RodKanehl September 6, 2008 at 8:59 pm

Rollins has one thing He has a first place flag. What do we have ???

dcmetsfan September 6, 2008 at 12:32 pm

I am guessing that the Sunday afternoon game will be available on Extra Innings, correct?

itsmetsforme September 6, 2008 at 1:37 pm

It’s not listed as of yet.

we should ALL email or call them because its no sure thing with them. I don’t know the phone number but if anyone who does could post it that would be appreciated.

dcmetsfan September 6, 2008 at 1:58 pm

Not sure of the number, either. I wonder if TBS would carry it, unless their schedule is set in stone.

backinbusiness September 6, 2008 at 12:37 pm

For what it’s worth, it says this on mets.com:

Jamie Moyer and Pedro Martinez will face off in the first game, while Cole Hamels and Johan Santana will duel in the nightcap.

AnneM September 6, 2008 at 12:41 pm

Wasn’t this supposed to be the day Phillies fans take over Shea. Well, so much for that plan!

khmustache September 6, 2008 at 1:09 pm

FlightFromHouston September 6, 2008 at 1:09 pm

that’s what noah said

BigPelf4prez September 6, 2008 at 1:17 pm

Jerry is doin a bad job not pitching johan in the 1st game. He has to flip them. Chances are you win johan vs moyer and then all the pressure is on philly at night with their ace.

LarryFlint September 6, 2008 at 1:20 pm

id rather johan face hamels…

Nate W. September 6, 2008 at 1:20 pm

MLB should have stepping up two days ago and rescheduled this game for 1:00. Since when does Fox have more say than MLB?

The game would be 6 or 7 innings old when the strorm blows in and we wouldnt have to see 2-3 more innings of the pen… good for us.

At least the Mets didnt turn the game over to Fox today. They would force them to try and play it, get the field all waterlogged and then they wouldnt be able to play tomorrow’s games either.

LarryFlint September 6, 2008 at 1:36 pm

if it started at 1 they coulda gotten it in

dave27 September 6, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Are you people serious? It’s a freaking Tropical Storm – you think anyone was certain enough when it would start? What’s the big freaking deal…it’s a rainout.

Besides the rain started today at 2:45. Not sure when the last 1 hour 45 game was, but it wouldn’t have been finished.

LarryFlint September 6, 2008 at 1:30 pm

CaveManJoe September 6, 2008 at 2:55 pm

Wasn’t this the game the Phillie fans had targeted to “invade” Shea. Ha – guess all the future planning didn’t pan out too well.

rustyjr September 6, 2008 at 2:58 pm

well the extent of planning for a philly fan is to bring valveeta rather than cheez whiz

Bogar September 6, 2008 at 3:26 pm

Well, Shea looked to have a lot of empty seats last night, so Mets front office would have liked them to invade yesterday.

metsfanmurph September 6, 2008 at 11:52 pm

I think its hilarious that the idiot Phillies fans wanted to “Take over Shea” today and the game got rained out.

c.1970 September 6, 2008 at 3:29 pm

One doesn’t watch FOX baseball. FOX baseball has a camera modeled after “1984″ that watches you. And Big Brother help you if you don’t stand up for “God Bless America” in the 7th—the thought police come in, taser your favorite pet, and have “neo-Libertarian” Bill O’Reilly scream “Shut UP!” at you for three straight hours. So dude, just obey, watch the ex-Met announcer yammerer away and the guy who was named after the hustler in “Midnight Cowboy” chortle about, and wear your flag pin—or else!

toomanyuniforms September 6, 2008 at 4:00 pm

“c. 1970″ is right. I can smell the patchouli from here.
