It never hurts hitting two homers in a must win game in September on ESPN's national game. It kind of helps in the MVP race.

Time for you to put a sock in it. Season series is over, and guess what? Mets 11, Phils 7. I wouldn't be puffing my chest out after going 7-11 against my rival, I can tell you that much.

I hate to ask this, but is there any chance that Delgado is juicing?
How does one just suddenly start hitting like this?
And didn't he look a lot smaller at the beginning of the season?

If Delgado is the MVP, then Omar is a genius for having the patience to stick with him and not pull a Steinbrenner (Sexson, etc.). Granted, he did not have much of a choice, but if it had been up to the die-hard readers of Metsblog, Carlos would never have even made the trip north. Just goes to show that, like turning on a fastball or hitting lefties, evaluating talent and performance of MLB players is harder than it looks.

This week tells us a lot. We have two off days and face two teams that are relegated to spoiler roles. Phillies get seven games with wildcard rivals Milwaukee (4) and Florida (3). If the Mets lead does not grow in the next 7 days, the rest of the season will be agony.

CNN reporting...
New York Mets 1st baseman, Carlos Delgado, was enjoying the team's off-day on Monday hunting Moose in the tundra of Alaska with Gov. Sarah Palin. When asked how he was doing for the day, Delgado just smiled and then proceeded to talk to the runner for the next 3 outs.
