I didn't bring up Derek Jeter. Can we stop comparing Carlos Beltran to Derek Jeter? Please? It's a horrible comparison, really.

Derek Jeter came up with the most amazing plays in the spots that mattered most.

Even with Beltran's unbelievably hot series in 04 ... he will be hard pressed to get even close to the number of big hits that Jeter got in his career.

Besides, they are totally different players. It's a silly argument.

Yeah, good point, as much as I (and many other blog-frequenting Mets Fans) like to complain and analyze and fret and whatnot, I can't say this season hasn't been fun. I've watched these guys play some great baseball.

Yeah, very well put. He's one of the best athletes in the league and that gives him a certain grace that makes everything seem somewhat effortless compared to the normal player. This makes him seem lackadaisical when he's absolutely hustling his butt off, sometimes with pesky injuries.

In reality he's been solid with a bat, showed some pop, been a pest on the base paths, and his numbers are in the top tier of the NL. When you factor in his defense (which is as good or better than you'll see in the league in center field) he's really been earning that contract this year. He's definitely the strong silent type, a sort of Clint Eastwood roaming the tundras of center field.

Ditto that. Let's appreciate what we have! Let's not forget it wasn't too long ago when we really sucked!

There comes a time in a person's live we he would like to say thanks. Thank you Brian Cashman! You single-handedly made the Mets a better team than yours. Why you might ask, because you let the Mets steal two players because you thought you did not need them.

1. Carlos Beltran
2. Johan Santana

Did you think your better off with a CF who hit .240? Who was so bad you send him Triple-A. Now, you have an over the hill CF who has a worse arm than my grandma?

So Sidney Ponson and Darryl Rasner were better options in your starting rotation than Johan Santana? Apparently so, because you held on to Ian Kennedy, Phil Hughes and Melky Cabrera for JOHAN FRIGGIN SANTANA!!!!

Thank you Brian Cashman! Merry Christmas to you too.

I never thought Beltran was overpaid. He's a complete ballplayer, and even if he doesn't put up the glamor numbers, he does everything well enough to earn his salary.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday. Delgado has been amazing in August in Sept. But he was totally absent in April, May, and June. An MVP doesn't just play for two months. Delgado's run lately wouldn't mean crap if it wasn't for Tatis and Church at the beginning of the year, and for Beltran and Wright the whole year.

Beltran has 100+ Runs and 100+ RBIs. He's having a fantastic season. He's got a great BB/SO ratio and an even better SB/CS.
