If Stokes continues to shine, let's just all pretend he came over in the Kazmir deal.

The deal will still be awful, but we'll at least have something to show for it....

That's a good point. And you are right, that is a lot of walks.

When commenting about Luis Ayala as the closer, Jerry Manuel said something to the effect that it;s his role "for now" but there was no room for 3-game allowances for bad results.
The same must be true for Heilman. I actually feel bad for Aaron. Longest tenured Met, and has, on occasion, been very effective as an 8th-inning guy, but his confidence is clearly shot. A stretch run for a pennant is not the time to worry about someone's ego, or hurt feelings.
Heilman has been afforded ample opportunity to rectify his problems. He should never see the ball in anything but a mop-up situation, and his spot on the (hopefully) playoff roster needs to go to an arm on which we can depend.
Whether that arm is attached to the body of Parnell, or someone else, now is the time to be exploring the options.

i didn't mention anything about Parnell's walks "indicating" anything. i was just amused that Eddy used the qualifier "only" when mentioning Parnell's 66 walks. that's all. i think it's ludicrous to insinuate that 66 walks isn't a lot for 148 IP.

This isn't that hard. Its easy to replace Heilman because it doesn't take much to not give up a two run homer every time you pitch. Anyone in that pen would be more effective than Heilman.
I like the idea of Reyes and I like the idea of Rincon. I don't like the idea of Parnell yet because he isn't K-Rod. In all honesty, I think Maine is going to take on that role soon.

Because era isn't all that great an indicator either. Look at K's per 9 innings and Hr's allowed...BTW 66 walks in 148 innings is 4.01 BB/9 IP...That's pretty high. The 114 K's amounts to 6.93 per 9 IP.

Heilman just cant be put in games anymore. I actually liked Manual's thinking trying to get him in a lower pressure situation early in the game up 7-5 and we see how that turned out.
