damn my third grade english teacher would have a field day lol
Listening to Seth Everett from mlb.com on WIP down here in Philly…man, this guy is such a Met-hater it is ridiculous!
I can’t even begin to quote the stuff this guy is saying…crazy. I mean, Philly people are soooo disgusted with their team.
Also, I think this shows now that they really know deep down that 2007 was more of a Met choke than the Phillies going and grabbing the title.
From Phil Sheridan in philly.com:
Back in July, it was clear the Phillies needed to add a legitimate starting pitcher. All apologies to Joe Blanton, but they didn’t. Even with Myers’ impressive return to form after his minor-league psych-rehab stint, the Phillies have to start Jamie Moyer on short rest tonight and aren’t sure who will start Sunday.
That lack of reinforcement can deflate a team. These guys aren’t stupid. They look around and see a rotation that isn’t deep enough, a bullpen that is flagging, and it isn’t hard to figure out where the pressure falls. No wonder the hitters are pressing.
jose lima is still available :P
stupidstitious people ruin my chance to enjoy the mets magic number on the site. come on…
i agree zen lets cut all this jix b.s – let us revel in our victores!!
the philly phanatic approaching mr. met last year built some suspense. one of the better things metsblog has done…
…let’s get it started by eliminating the marlins then phils
This is off topic, but, in wordpress, how do you make the older posts link on the bottom of each page point to the right? The default has it pointing to the left and I want to change it to the right on my site.
I think it depends on your theme.
as hot as delgado has been, i don’t think he’s a serious MVP candidate. in the beginning of the year when he was awful and everyone on the FAN wanted to run him out of town, we were still in the mix for first place. without delgado, the mets are still a serious contender.
if you take ryan braun off the brewers, there’s no way they are even close to being a playoff team.
If the confidence level at this point last season was the same, it was purely a function of the math.
Since no team had failed to win the division with the lead we had ..(well, you know…)
The reality, for any Met fan with an iota of awareness was, that last year this team had been sleepwalking through the season from June to September. Only the early lead, and our opponents inability to capitalize on our weak play, had enabled us to even be in such a position.
When the Phils finally got hot, and we tanked, it was a gut-wrenching experience, but not really a shock. We all knew that that team had no heart.
The ‘08 version of the Mets is a totally different animal. While we may not enjoy the sizable lead we held at this point, I would be much more devastated if we suddenly stopped playing winning ball.
This team, unlike their counterparts of a year ago, play with a fire that is palpable. When they get behind, we all believe that they will find a way to come back.
And so, that’s why the “confidence level” in these guys should be far and away greater than the Mets of September ‘07…
