I gotta jump in here. If Omar was so bad how come we have been in contention for the past three years. I gotta think Phillips was worst than Omar. Plus, in the annals of Mets history, only one GM the Mets have had has been as good and that was Frank Cashen.

either way you had to lose the same amount of games to achieve the outcome, the only thing that positions it as timing matters is the odds, teams do not routinely blow 6+ game leads no matter the time of year they had established that lead, exceptions being to injury, if the Mets had a 7 game lead with 27, 37 or 47 to play and still lost the division by 1 game it would have been no different, focusing on the drama sells papers and allows papers to sell more papers by having dramatic under tones of collapse, the result is the same no matter what, failure to achieve goal.
