Ramon Martinez made a base-running mistake during a potential rally in the eighth, started by back-to-back hits from back-up catchers, but I am not sure he would have scored on Jose Reyes’s fielder’s choice anyway.

Understand something with this comment, the approach that Reyes takes at the plate is changed by Martinez not being on third. The beautiful thing about baseball is that each action changes every other action. If a runner gets picked off of third base with nobody out and the next 3 guys strike out, you can't say well they wouldn't have gotten him home anyway. Your approach SHOULD change significantly given the circumstances of your at bat.

While the team played poorly, I'm still going to rip Martinez. He was brought in the game simply to pinch run. While he probably would not have scored on Reyes' fielders choice, it's a totally different at bat with him on 3rd. A flyball would have plated the tying run instead of a basehit.

He's a moron and doesn't reflect most of the dedicated philly fans who understand the ups and downs of baseball, so just ignore him.

I put all the blame on the bullpen and the relief pitching for this mess. They've blown 22 games this year. 22 games my friend thats alot. The most in the majors to be exact and when your first in the majors in that type of category your name is the Nationals or one of those teams and we're in the mix for the playoffs only because of the guys youre saying to trade. We need to negotiate away our farm system and keep Murphy and get a closer like Trevor Hoffman and some bullpen help. That's what I think.

Uh, are you guys fans? The season is not over yet. Find another sport if you're to weak to handle the ups and downs. Or at least another team.

I thought you hated the bullpen? Wait, the lack of quality starting pitching? No, today you hate the hitters?

The weakest element on the Mets is you -- the fans.

Show some faith. Show some support. Show some fanatic enthusiasm.

Let's go Mets!

I don't think we're at the bubbling point yet... If it happens, it happens. What can we do? We got lots of time in October to complain, right? I say win the division if you can. If you can't, win the wild card. It'll still give us a shot to win the WS, get revenge on the Phillies and prevent the media from making a mockery of the Mets again...

Because the BoSox won 2 out of last 4 World Series, the Celtics just won it and the Pats have given them several in this decade. How greedy can one city get? lol What do they care if they win? They were proud enough to trade Manny... They actually went principle over winning this year.

The Mets are in the same position as the Red Sox. Are Sox fans going nuts?

I said it yesterday and I don't know why I still say it... I'm fighting myself back not to take it back. The Mets are in the playoffs. It's like seeing through a wall taller than Hurricane Ike... Don't know how, don't know why... But we're there. We're in.
