Note: Ticket Lottery is Happening

by Matthew Cerrone

In case you are curious, the Mets have started to send e-mails to a select group of registered fans letting them know when and how to begin purchasing potential playoff tickets.

No, I am not one of them.

If you are, though, good luck.

I just got my rejection email. I did a few accounts, hopefully one gets lucky.

thrill5one6 September 18, 2008 at 4:27 pm

DAMN I DIDN’T WIN, DAMN METS

rM teM September 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm

ppfffffftttt

Fiya Minaya September 18, 2008 at 4:24 pm

I got in

docgood86 September 18, 2008 at 4:25 pm

Darn – I lost! Of course this will be more crushing as soon as the Mets make the playoffs!!

stone11375 September 18, 2008 at 5:03 pm

man, wouldn’t that be awful…….wait

starz31 September 18, 2008 at 4:26 pm

Yup…my first one was rejected…

If anyone has won and is unable to attend/afford a game please let me know as I would be very much interested.

ksuth September 18, 2008 at 4:26 pm

I lost. I’ll probably pick up tickets to a game on craigslist… :(

makeitallwright September 18, 2008 at 4:27 pm

My rejection emails have all started rolling in

DWright is King September 18, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I got rejected..oh well….

I still have last year’s tickets in a box in my closet…

amazin82 September 18, 2008 at 6:03 pm

I burnt mine along with my favorite Mets cap after the Marlins game last year. Purification by fire sometimes is necessary to reach catharsis.

patrick September 18, 2008 at 4:30 pm

I won, and for anyone who cares, that is surely a bad omen for the Mets.

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 4:32 pm

More like the best omen.

gutterkizmet September 18, 2008 at 4:32 pm

I got in … actually I sent the info to Matt earlier. It is probably a jinx as I got in last year too. Actually I lost for the NLDS but was selected about week later for the NLCS.

NickA33 September 18, 2008 at 4:32 pm

I too was rejected! Damn it!!!

ravi3 September 18, 2008 at 4:33 pm

Matt, I’d think that the team would give you some seats to at least one game!

Scarlett September 18, 2008 at 4:33 pm

I didn’t get it and I entered 3 email accounts :(

TRex23 September 19, 2008 at 3:05 pm

I don’t know which is worse. I DID get in, but I can’t afford to buy 4 tickets.

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 4:37 pm

people already listed their PIN#s for sale on craigslist

brendanakathebza September 18, 2008 at 4:38 pm

I didn’t get. The only time I ever won the drawing was in 2006…for World Series tickets.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm

I have season tickets and won’t be attending every playoff game (should there be any)…

ksuth September 18, 2008 at 4:40 pm

email me keith.suth [at] Gmail . c o m

i’m sure we can work something out…

Flushing_is_Burning September 18, 2008 at 4:39 pm

darn it! I didn’t get in

metsmad22 September 18, 2008 at 4:40 pm

doesn’t matter, thanks to the cubs inability to play over .500 against the brewers and phils at home lately is going to screw us.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 4:45 pm

Brew Crew up 5-2… Thanks Cubbies… MIL playing CIN and PIT coming up next 6…

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 4:48 pm

Maybe there will be a 4 way tie for first/wild card

Darth Manuel September 18, 2008 at 4:48 pm

Holy Mary Mother of God,,, I finally won something… Sweetness.. I might be only using 2 of my tickets so… that means there might be 2 tickets up for grabs

BringBackDaveTelgheder September 18, 2008 at 4:52 pm

Just curious – when you win these things are the tickets available always upper deck?

gradeck September 18, 2008 at 4:56 pm

Yes. Or the back rows of the loge and mezzanine.

There are occasionally some seats in the outer mezz/outer upper boxes for these sales if you’re lucky.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 4:57 pm

Keep this in mind…

Upper Reserved costs the same as Mezz Reserved wihich costs the same as Loge Reserved fore the playoffs…

Upper Box costs the same as Mezz Box costs the same as outer Loge box costs the same as Outer Field Box for the playoffs…

NLDS = $45 UR, MR, LR
NLDS = $75 UB, MB, LB

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 4:59 pm

then why in the world would one pay $75 for UB if they can get LB ?

ravi3 September 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

most of the LB’s are unavailable.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:02 pm

Correct… STH.

nycuconn September 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

I am in and would sell 4 for one NLDS to a fellow Met fan for a nominal above face value

gradeck September 18, 2008 at 5:06 pm

Screw you. Ticket scalpers get lost.

nycuconn September 18, 2008 at 10:43 pm

you guys are kidding…I am a huge met fan…..probably the biggest and I am not looking to make anything…at all……period and that is the end of that

domosnacks5 September 18, 2008 at 5:07 pm

ugh, hate the people who win that try to make a buck off the real fans.

Ceetar September 18, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Why? They won, you didn’t. I’ve got a saturday plan and a friend one, but If should happen to win more tickets, I’d definitely be looking to sell them for a profit. These things are expensive, and If i want to be able to go as much as possible, profit is the only way.

gradeck September 18, 2008 at 11:44 pm

Well, we’ll all be hoping that you don’t win, clearly.

Idiots like you are what’s exactly wrong with the ticket lottery. Turns everyone into an amateur scalper.

It’s bad enough that MLB marks up these tickets, then we’ve got to deal with imbeciles like yourself who only want to take advantage of an average joe who wants to go to a game.

Go to hell.

swirlywand September 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Instead of unending JOY, when I got my email saying I had an opportunity to buy tickets…I felt sick to my stomach…something else to get really excited about…errrrr….

I won an opportunity for the NLCS in 2006….and we made it…so I’m going to cross my fingers and TRY AND ENJOY THE RIDE!

Justin4383 September 18, 2008 at 5:05 pm

Remember , Unless we actually make the playoffs winning is worthless

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm

do you get refunded if….?

ksuth September 18, 2008 at 5:10 pm

yes

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm

Well, last year I won this “raffle” and still have my stubs for game 2 of the NLDS. So this year not winning might be a blessing in disguise.

Let’s hope so!!!

Must win tonight!!!

ravi3 September 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm

WOOOOO Giovani Soto ties the game with a 2 out, 3-run HR in the bottom of the 9th!

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm

OMG

Cubs 4 run 2 out rally in 9th to tie Brewers.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:10 pm

CUBS TIE, CUBS TIE!

mrose September 18, 2008 at 5:12 pm

WOOHOO AND SOTO IS ON MY FANTASY TEAM!

Darth Manuel September 18, 2008 at 5:11 pm

Quick question..In the email it says there are two ways to log in on sunday.. the first option

1.If you have previously linked the account number received in your e-mail to an online account:

2.If you have not yet linked the account number received in your e-mail to an online account

How do I link my account number received to to an online account?

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:15 pm

If you have received a PIN number…

Ceetar September 18, 2008 at 5:48 pm

I believe, if you’ve won under taht email address before it sends you the same account number linked to that email address. So if you won for the preseason lottery, or something like taht, you’d have an account number and have already set up a pin.

Otherwise, you just use the info you got, and set up your account now/sunday.

JINBK September 18, 2008 at 5:16 pm

I have a opening day seven pack, and was never sent anything in the mail about buying tickets to a playoff game like I was supposed to. The sale for seven pack holders ended today at 5:30, I was very lucky to call today at around 4:30 to just inquire about the opportunity that I was entitled to, and to my surprise found out the sale was almost over, luckily I got tickets to LCS game 2, but would have preferred to get LDS tickets, and probably could have done better than sec. 40 row V had I known by tuesday. Had I called tomorrow I probably would have been told tough luck and they would have had an extremely angry Mets fan who shelled out over $500 for opening day pack tickets to get screwed come playoff time.

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:17 pm

There was never a guarantee for Seven Pack holders that tickets would be made avaialble for you via a special sale…

That said, most tix were for the highest rows…

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:16 pm

I won the Lottery in 2006 and had tix to potential Game 5 of the NLDS (obviuosly not played)…

That’s the only time I ever won the lottery…

El Chupacabra September 18, 2008 at 5:17 pm

Looks like the Mets are not the only ones with bullpen issues.. Holding a 6-2 lead in bottom of ninth in Chicago, the Cubs have come back to tie the game at 6!

metsno1fan September 18, 2008 at 5:17 pm

I got game NLDS game 2 but was just informed i will be getting game 2 thru my Sunday plan. Anybody interested in trading game 1 for game 2 let me know. email me at metsno1fan at gmail

El Chupacabra September 18, 2008 at 5:18 pm

Correction.. meant to say the Brewers blew their 6-2 lead after 2 outs in the ninth.. Cubs coming to bat now in bott of 10th

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 5:18 pm

wwow, if the brewers lose this game, it really is over for them

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:19 pm

I wouldn’t say that since they now face CIN and PIT for the next 6…

But it would be a devastating loss…

oleosmirf September 18, 2008 at 5:22 pm

it would be huge for us though…

janss36 September 18, 2008 at 5:22 pm

Damn straight…

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 5:25 pm

yup, that’s probably what i meant.

Knuckles99 September 18, 2008 at 5:25 pm

GO CUBS!

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 5:30 pm

Great, Cerrone! You posted a picture of playoff tickets and referred to the possibility that the Mets might make the playoffs. YOU HAVE JINXED US ALL FOR ALL ETERNITY!!!

(If only there was a “sarcasm” button on my keyboard. Hopefully it was clear enough.)

Knuckles99 September 18, 2008 at 5:31 pm

Cerrone is the Mush of bloggers. Put him in the closet.

Ceetar September 18, 2008 at 5:53 pm

keep in mind the picture of tickets he posted is ‘07 tickets..

El Chupacabra September 18, 2008 at 5:35 pm

after Cubs tied it.. there was a groundout.. and then 8 K’s in a row between the 2 teams… Wonder what is the record for consecutive Strikeouts….

El Chupacabra September 18, 2008 at 5:36 pm

and.. another one!! Derek Lee just struck out.. now nine in a row!

oleosmirf September 18, 2008 at 5:39 pm

yea i noticed that too, finally ramirez walked

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 5:41 pm

just watching the brewers/cubs game and ed rapuano (the home plate unpire) threw out jim edmons on a 1-2 count for arguning a strike call…ridiculous

oleosmirf September 18, 2008 at 5:44 pm

yea he gets a new AB though???

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm

does he have an extra large strike zone?
is that why there were 8Ks in a row?

ridethesnake September 18, 2008 at 6:02 pm

It was two feet outside, Edmonds was right.

Meanwhile, if blowing a 4 run lead with 2 out in the 9th isn’t bad enough, the Brewers started the 12th with a single and a double and did not score. If they lose it here in the 12th, we are talking devastating.

miker94 September 18, 2008 at 5:45 pm

i was wondering if anyone else was watching this game. glad to know i’m not alone, i can’t believe the cubs came back, i’m so happy. come on cubbies!

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 5:46 pm

Base hit! Do it! Come on Cubs!!!

Knuckles99 September 18, 2008 at 5:48 pm

mrose September 18, 2008 at 6:00 pm

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 6:00 pm

good job!
but eerily similar to mets “rallies”

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 6:00 pm

Wood got out of it. Great pitching, great defense by the Cubs. Wow.

Man, can’t WAIT to play them on Monday. :-)

ridethesnake September 18, 2008 at 6:04 pm

Especially since Marquis will throw 60 pitches and come out in the 4th, Harden threw 115 today so he will throw 60 on Tuesday, etc etc.

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 6:21 pm

Hey, don’t get me wrong, that was supposed to be humor. The Mets can take them, it’s just a matter of will they?

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 6:22 pm

Hm. Clearly someone doesn’t know how to properly use the HTML tags. Your help would be appreciated.

ridethesnake September 18, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Are you talking to yourself?

I knew it was sarcasm and I was with you. You took two sides of an argument that never happened.

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 6:29 pm

Yes, was talking to myself. I was trying to use the italics switch but I guess I did it wrong – italicized the whole sentence. I’ll figure it out eventually.

miker94 September 18, 2008 at 6:05 pm

wow, and i thought that only the mets could not score with men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 6:06 pm

man on 2nd with one out for the cubs

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 6:08 pm

two out, runner now on third

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 6:11 pm

CUBS win!!!

Sylar September 18, 2008 at 6:11 pm

oleosmirf September 18, 2008 at 6:11 pm

miker94 September 18, 2008 at 6:12 pm

woo hoo, thank God! now come on mets!

SantanaCYYOung September 18, 2008 at 6:13 pm

now all we need is for the phills to lose and mets to win

miker94 September 18, 2008 at 6:14 pm

ill take a mets win!

metsmad22 September 18, 2008 at 6:17 pm

I stand corrected! Hey my name is metsmad! I was blowing a gasket over this b/c this really helps us.

derxmasta September 18, 2008 at 6:28 pm

looks like MIL wants to take the title of worst bullpen from the mets!

Airfeet September 18, 2008 at 6:35 pm

mets are simply NOT winning hte division…so lets go ahead and win hte wild card

MetsAllTheWay September 18, 2008 at 7:53 pm

3 years of registering. 0 “wins” in the lottery system.

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 4:56 pm

YES.

kingman 26 September 18, 2008 at 4:56 pm

How does a semi-literate 12 year old know who Larry Flynt is??

NYP-BOS-NYP September 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

Help! Help! My braing s singed!

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 5:03 pm

This guy is either mentally retarded or a genius. Maybe both.

mrose September 18, 2008 at 5:07 pm

WE GET IT YOU ARE NOT RIGHT IN THE HEAD

ravi3 September 18, 2008 at 5:01 pm

I would think that a semi-literate 12 year old would know who Larry Flynt is before knowing who Robert Kennedy was.

Nightlife September 18, 2008 at 5:11 pm

I hated this guy at first, but now he is probably my favorite commentator here.

Made in the Shea-de September 18, 2008 at 5:27 pm

LOL.
