    Argenis Reyes again?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

    • BLUEXORANGE says:

do u have anyone else in mind?

      • JamesK says:

Yeah. This is has been covered here ad nauseum, but no matter how bad Luis Castillo is, he is still head and shoulders above Argenis Reyes.

Reyes is a better fielder, but he’s not exactly Ozzie Smith so the difference there is negligible. Reyes is having a historically bad offensive season.

        • patrick says:

I think Castillo gets wrongly killed in met land, but he is done for this year.

Did you see him go first to third last night, he could barely stop he went in basically on one leg.

He is over for this year.

  2. dazedandconfused says:

    LET’S GO METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. SantanaCYYOung says:

i just want to hear gary coehn say, “…and the Mets win the ballgame!”

  4. Airfeet says:

ANOTHER MUST WIN GAME FOR THE METS

  5. MetsFan4Decades says:

Just get it done, please, Johan and the crew. Getting it done without the adventure tonight would be a real plus…..

  6. BLUEXORANGE says:

every game is a must win. winning the wild card will make me sick to my stomach. the mets owe us. there just ganna let the phils win again? how can they let this happen. phils f-ing lose mets win tonight lets do this and take the division

  7. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

dan murphy in the lineup + johan pitching= success

  8. curiojeff says:

I like Murph in the 2 spot over Church. Other than a few bright moments, Church has not been himself at the plate since coming off the DL.

  9. dazedandconfused says:

DIVISION OR ELSE!!!! SCREW THE WILD CARD!

  10. Airfeet says:

I reallly dont think the mets can win hte division..however they better win hte wild card!

  11. khmustache says:

ryan braun is terrible, he’s not clutch, he plays too tight, he’s the brewers golden boy…they should trade him for prospects and start over

  12. Darth Manuel says:

    No Guts no Glory

  13. 0h the ag0ny says:

    D_MURPH! big night!
    SANTANAAAA ! lockdown.
    CHURCH! please?

    BULLPEN! blow me.

  14. BLUEXORANGE says:

seriously i think today is the deadline for me on whether i stop caring about the mets or not…playoffs or not..they have there ace starting vs probably the worst team in baseball in a close race…this should be an automatic win for them. no win and im done…shows they have no heart at all that they would lose 3 out of 4 against the nats…but im positive we are winning tonight

    • Nightlife says:

Shut up with the heart crap.

      • BLUEXORANGE says:

?? ok then what should u say? there chokers? they donut produce in September? fill in another word for me?

        • Nightlife says:

How about they just weren’t good enough?

        • BLUEXORANGE says:

doesn’t work for me….its my opinion so i shouldn’t shut up about it…no heart no guts no fight to come back….maybe they will show signs tonight but hopefully there leading most of the game…..like someone posted before no guts no glory….just play the game and win ur better….win yea its not that easy im just someone talking well….there players

        • Nightlife says:

But that is dumb. When they win they have “fight, heart, guts” when they don’t they are “choking losers”. Is there no middle ground? Sometimes you just lose no matter how hard you play.

        • BLUEXORANGE says:

true…yea but what are the phillies doing? its late its the most important part of the season…….you have your ace out there and you should have a really good chance to win.. i mean i don’t get how they can not produce in September 2 years in a row they have to win the division in my opinion or it would just be a sour victory (playoff appearance) to me

        • BLUEXORANGE says:

you know what nightlife? no point of arguing…your opinion is right ans i stand by mine….were both met fans and lets just root for our team tonight

        • ridethesnake says:

That is where you are wrong. You are not a Met fan if you were going to stop watching your team play with 10 games remaining in a dead heat with the division lead and a game up on the wild card, had they lost tonight. You even said you would stop caring if they made it to the playoffs. You are not a fan, just a delusional brat who can’t spell.

        • BLUEXORANGE says:

hey relax there buddy, this isn’t a spelling bee. and don’t tell me that im not a real fan. you really don’t even know so just don’t talk….and yea i said what i said but i have so much confidence in them that i knew they were going to win tonight….and i don’t mean a lot of things that i saw..another thing you don’t know about me

      • dazedandconfused says:

lol this sounds like pirates of the carribean

  15. chronique1 says:

    LETS! GO! METS!!!

  16. BLUEXORANGE says:

hey guys, hopefully tonights the night we see Al Reyes and Parnell? instead of the 3 disaster..i think u can pick them out

    • Airfeet says:

i mean we obviously arent seeing Parnell..you should know by now that unless the game is a laugher we arent seeing Parnell

  17. kickingmule says:

One thing about A. Reyes, is that J.Reyes seems to play much better when he’s in there. Did anyone notice Jose’s slump started about the same time A.Reyes left the line up ?? In A. Reyes’ return last night …..

    • SantanaCYYOung says:

      a. reyes was in the 1-0 game in which j. reyes was terrible at the plate

    • khmustache says:

i think the replacing of guisseppe franco with topdot was the real catalyst…bring back guisseppe!

    • dwright57 says:

dude u are pushing with that….

I know we all hate castillo and hes been bad and he has a horrid contract…..

that being said, areyes is a terrible hitter and is obp is almost the same as his average…..

castillo has had a bad stretch but he will take walks and can play just as good defense…..we also forgot he’s 300 before and 40 something straight……i know its late, but if he plays he will contribute mark my words…..

areyes it out within 4 pitches everytime….castillo will work the count than strike out……

      • JamesK says:

Thank you. Finally someone who doesn’t fawn over A. Reyes’ “energy”, “grit”, or “makes Jose play better”

  18. SantanaCYYOung says:

Does anyone else think that the 1st inning is the key to this game? The Mets, I think need to come out and score in the 1st.

  19. Two-By-Four says:

Of the three teams battling for the two playoff spots the Phillies have a decided advantage in the bullpen. Playing with bullpens that are almost laughable at times is like trying to compete in football with terrible special teams play. It puts a tremendous burden on the rest of your game as they try to compensate. If you don’t believe that it bothers the rest of the team just look at Beltran’s and Manuel’s comments last night. They wouldn’t be human if it didn’t get to them. Jerry is trying all he can to mask the deficiencies in the bullpen and I think he deserves praise for a yeoman’s job.
With that anybody care to guess what Santana’s pitch count will be tonight. Didn’t they joke about 170. And of course let’s go mets.

  20. rM teM says:

Let’s not cut our wrist’s when Santana allow’s a run or 2 in the first 2 innings. All is well as long as he doesn’t throw 20 pitches an inning.

  21. domosnacks5 says:

SO I HAVE THIS IDEA 4 A JERRY MANUAL VIDYO GAME whre UR JERRY BUT UR U BUT ALSO JERRY BUT U THINK UR U NOT JERRY……… MAYBE XBOX or PS3 will LIKE IT?

HERSE HOW IT GOWS- DONT TAKE IT.

    • Sylar says:

How much for some of your pot?

      • Nightlife says:

        I’m thinking its LSD.

      • domosnacks5 says:

        Nah, it was a lame imitation of the poster “LarryFlint” who posted the most absurd/sheerly brilliant post in the history of Metsblog about 2 weeks ago about this video game. He gave 2 missions, one being like where you’re Jerry Manuel and Jose Reyes calls you, if anyone else remembers let me know if this was pretty much how it went;

        *phone rings*
        JERRY (you)- HELLO?
JOSE REYES- HEY JERRY IS IT OK IF I COME LATE TO WORK TODAY?
JERRY- HEY THIS SOUNDS LIKE JOSE REYES?
        JOSE- THIS IS JOSE REYES
        JERRY- OH UHHHHHHHHH OK

I literally was dying reading his stuff, plus his punctuation was awful, but it was the best thing ever,

    • domosnacks5 says:

PS- that guy is my favorite poster on this blog. As sick and twisted as it sounds, we need him back with more “dialogue” of his video game.

  22. SantanaCYYOung says:

Carlos Beltran comment yesterday after the game:

“Every game is a playoff game for us the rest of the season.”

Thank you Carlos, can you please tell that to David, also tell David that this is still a game and that he CAN have fun out there tonight and each night.

    Sincerely,

    Mets fans

  23. Airfeet says:

Seasons over if the mets lose tonight with our Ace on the mound heading into Atlanta where we will be lucky to win 1 out of 3

    • khmustache says:

wasn’t the season over 2 days ago?

      • Airfeet says:

i mean if we lose tonight and we walk into Atlanta and sweep them wed be back in it…im just saying the season would be over if the rest of the season would go as expected

      • rM teM says:

it was the season after about 15 games so far. at least.

    • Sylar says:

      (Bangs head on desk)

      Um no…

The season ends September 28th, not the 18th.

Nothing that happens today, good or bad, will determine how the rest of the season goes..

Oh, and Milledge is an awful, awful, CF

  24. khmustache says:

    hearts! guts!

  25. Nightlife says:

    Alright, awesome start!

  26. BLUEXORANGE says:

    REYESSSS good start

  27. Airfeet says:

    AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  28. Nightlife says:

    AHAHAHAHA Milledge is AWFUL.

  29. domosnacks5 says:

    THANKS LASTINGS!

Hopefully the Mets are playing alot looser today since the Brewers already lost, the worst we can do is be in the same spot as we were coming into today, and can only help ourselves.

  30. MetsFan4Decades says:

YES! Miledge has got a long way to go before he’s Beltran.

  31. rM teM says:

milledge…..where’s that guy who was alway’s posting about how great he was.
What was his name? milledgeforprez or something??

  32. khmustache says:

    dear lastings,

can you promise to never leave the nationals? i love watching your amazing stooge impression in centerfield.

    heart,

    khmustache

  33. Wright88 says:

I wish we still had Milledge or Thrilledge.

  34. Wright88 says:

Btw…doesn’t it seem like the Nats pick up all our scraps..Estrada, LoDuca, AHern, Edge, probably more…

  35. rM teM says:

thrilledge something, yeah that was it
    thrilledge.

  36. EV says:

    Come on Wright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  37. BLUEXORANGE says:

    nice rbi wright……. … .. .

  38. Airfeet says:

what the hell is wrights deal….ive never seen someone look so bad at the plate especially with a runner on 3rd when all u have to do is poke the ball….even reyes looks much better when reyes is struggling

  39. BLUEXORANGE says:

    jesus are u kidding? …wow

  40. gipper82475 says:

    David needs a day off.

  41. ReyesMets says:

Wow David Wright looks like someone just kicked his dog

  42. Sylar says:

And then Delgado’s at bat is even worse

  43. BLUEXORANGE says:

    beltran come through please…

  44. Wright88 says:

Wonder why DW is struggling so much, he’s usually a clutch hitter with RISP. Something’s off..hidden injury? Playing all those games catching up? Or just really bad slump?

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

I’m not thinking it’s an injury. Just the worst time possible for a slump. And resting him? Going to be hard with the bench we have left. No Tatis, no Easley.

      • Wright88 says:

Yea, I think you just have to play him and hope for the best. I might be tempted to put him in the 2 or 5 hole though.

  45. dazedandconfused says:

These ballsacks can’t drive in a run from 3rd with nobody out!

  46. BLUEXORANGE says:

we should break 2 thousand comments tonight haha set a record

  47. kd bart says:

Wright is totally lost. The swing on the 2-1 pitch was one of the worse swings I’ve ever seen.

    • Airfeet says:

WORST….and the fact of the matter it was a 2-1 pitch NOT a 1-2 pitch…and there was a runner on 3rd so he couldnt be looking to do that much…and it was a FASTBALL not an offspeed…WTF

  48. BLUEXORANGE says:

yea a productive bad inning is the way i put it

  49. khmustache says:

    gutless…no heart…

    • BLUEXORANGE says:

i see your being sarcastic…..yea they didnt get the run home with 1 out and man on third…what do u call that….no talent

      • ReyesMets says:

it’s not “no heart” I can tell you that much

      • khmustache says:

nope…i call it 3 bad at bats and some decent pitching. i also try to keep in mind that a great hitter will get 3 hits every 10 at bats…that being said i think it’s pretty pathetic that they couldn’t drive the rookie in…..

  50. Airfeet says:

its nice to say we scored a run in hte first….but to leave a runner on 3rd with no outs with our 3 4 5 batters is just not fundamental baseball…and if we expect to make the playoffs we simply CANNOT do that down the stretch

  51. miker94 says:

wow, only the mets can NOT score with no outs and a man on 3rd

  52. EV says:

Crap, I hope that run doesn’t come back to haunt us though I know it will.

  53. Airfeet says:

IM CONFUSED HOW WRIGHT IS SLUMPING…DIDNT HE HIT LIKE 4 HOME RUNS IN 3 GAMES 1 SERIES AGO??

  54. domosnacks5 says:

Guys, let’s be positive. One run an inning over 9 innings will be plenty of support for Johan.

    LET’S GO METS!

TAKE GRASP OF THAT CY YOUNG TONIGHT JOHAN!

    • ReyesMets says:

Tim Lincecum is the Cy Young, by far

      • khmustache says:

gotta agree there…that many wins on that team is nothing short of miraculous

      • domosnacks5 says:

It’s Johan or CC, in my opinion. As good as Lince has been, he missed a few starts to injury and the other two have been just as dominant. Johan’s got 1 more QS, just a few points off in ERA, a better whip, and obviously less Ks. If Johan is lights out down the stretch and LIncecum goes into a little Brandon Webb-esque funk, it’s Johan’s for the taking.

  55. rM teM says:

    perfect game going…oops

  56. patrick says:

I hope Wright is having fun.

  57. EV says:

Dude, the Cy Young is going to Lincecum not Santana.

  58. dazedandconfused says:

wow the Phillies just did what the Mets couldn’t do. Get a run on a sac fly!

    • Airfeet says:

thats why the phillies are going to win the division and the mets arent…the mets are lookin to win hte wild card

    • Airfeet says:

WRIGHT is the only player ive seen to go from HOT to ICE COLD to HOT to ICE COLD from series to series

  59. EV says:

Crap, 2-0 Phillies, can the Braves beat the Phillies ONCE!!!!

  60. patrick says:

Ryan Church better show up tonight.

  61. patrick says:

Can Brian Schnieder Fing catch a foul tip GOD DAMN

  62. rM teM says:

that spitting between your teeth is so stupid for someone over 9 years old

  63. khmustache says:

stupid topdot commercials….i really hate this stupid woman

  64. Metfreak says:

I am so happy we have Johan this guy is a true ace I just hope we can win a ring with him during his contract yrs

  65. Metfreak says:

I really think teams from the NL East gets pumped up to beat the Mets

    • racemccloud says:

Yeah, and they seem to roll over for the Phils. Do they not know who actually won the east last year? It drives me nuts that they all want to beat the Mets more than they want to beat the Phillies.

  66. Nightlife says:

    Alright, Braves on the board.

  67. rM teM says:

I’m thinking that next year I’m going to see some road games. Washington would be a good 3 day weekend trip.

  68. khmustache says:

dang…zimmerman has been stealing those from arey all week…

  69. Airfeet says:

    Schneider!

  70. Sylar says:

Argenis Reyes is quite possibly the WORST player in baseball

  71. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Yeah, Brian !!

  72. EV says:

    Schneider!!!!

  73. Nightlife says:

    SCHNEIDER!!!

  74. racemccloud says:

It’s like the 2nd coming of Mike Piazza.

  75. DavidDog says:

    yeah shneiderman!

  76. Airfeet says:

Milledge has to be the worst CF in the league

  77. khmustache says:

    milledge

    is

    terrible

  78. MetsFan4Decades says:

All right, Johan. Helping his own cause.

  79. EV says:

    Yea Santana!!!!!!

  80. Nightlife says:

    Johan!!!

  81. ReyesMets says:

    YES JOSE!

  82. Metfreak says:

Santana hits better then slappy and Argenis Reyes combined

  83. DavidDog says:

and the braves actually scored a run, i guess to quite the rumors that they’re doing it on purpose…

    and santana, finally!

  84. khmustache says:

    KEEP DRIVIN EM IN BOYS!!!

  85. EV says:

    Yea Jose!!!!!!

  86. rM teM says:

oh, this is too easy….could this be a laugher???

  87. MetsFan4Decades says:

Jose looking good these past couple of days. That’s the way to get ‘em home!

  88. Nightlife says:

    JOSE!!!!

  89. DavidDog says:

c’mon jose, u wake up and we’ll do it!!!

  90. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Well, crap.

  91. rM teM says:

that’s what I’ve been saying Ron…start Murphy every day

  92. khmustache says:

damn…did nieves have this arm in the bronx or does it only appear against the mets?

  93. Nightlife says:

    Doh!

    Oh well, good inning.

  94. racemccloud says:

Can’t fault him for being aggressive.

  95. Ryn05 says:

The all caps posters leave when we start scoring.

  96. huge_mets_fan11 says:

    Kotchman HR, 2-2

  97. racemccloud says:

Kotchman homers, 2-2 Phils and Braves.

    • therealsince86 says:

Isn’t that his first HR as a Brave? He has been terrible since coming over.

      • huge_mets_fan11 says:

At first he was, now he’s on fire, he has a 6 game hitting streak and he is hitting .469 during it.

      • racemccloud says:

Maybe it’s a night of firsts. Kotchman’s first Braves HR, Lidge’s first blown save… fingers crossed!

  98. dwright57 says:

    2-2 braves game

  99. Nightlife says:

I love watching Johan just toy with guys with that change.

  100. racemccloud says:

My friend teaches at Brooklyn college, and saw a bunch of people in Phillies shirts on campus. I say they’re all just a bunch of front-running posers. You know, Yankees fans.

  101. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Sit down, Dukes - hahahahaha

  102. ReyesMets says:

    GREAT throw!

    nice steal attempt, lastings

  103. Nightlife says:

    Lol Dukes.

  104. The Slider says:

You Schneider haters should have some crow for dinner right now.

  105. therealsince86 says:

    Wow perfect throw.

  106. metsmad22 says:

schneider has turned it on so nicely, offensively and defensively. gotta give him a LOT of props.

  107. ReyesMets says:

great outfield defense tonight by the Nattys

  108. khmustache says:

    best

    outfield

    ever

  109. MetsFan4Decades says:

BELTRAN !! Just kept on running and winds up on third.

  110. Nightlife says:

    Beltron!!!

  111. dazedandconfused says:

    yeah baby gal!

  112. DavidDog says:

THIS is the beltran that meets my expectations

  113. therealsince86 says:

That would have been out of the stadium in Philly.

  114. cousinrk says:

I love this strategy…just hit it to Dukes and Milledge and take your chances.

  115. EV says:

Is there a worst defensive outfield than the nats, na.

  116. ReyesMets says:

    Hey there Churchy!

  117. BigPelf4prez says:

    O YEA BABY!! NICE!!

  118. MetsFan4Decades says:

That’s the way to do it! Back to back to back hits. Keep it coming.

  119. Nightlife says:

    Yes!!!

  120. khmustache says:

    keep tackin em on fellas!!!

  121. ReyesMets says:

When Argenis is up with 2 outs, they should just go to commercial and get it over with

    • therealsince86 says:

Think how much more money they could make with those extra 2 minutes of adds. That being said that was the best AB I have ever seen him have.

  122. therealsince86 says:

Ok so now Johan needs to pitch to contact and go 9. No need to nibble and make us see the pen.

  123. dazedandconfused says:

    Philthies better lose today!

  124. BigPelf4prez says:

BREAKING NEWS!!! AL REYES RELEASED!! GUSTAVO MOLINA SENT HOME!!!

    • dazedandconfused says:

???????????? I’ll believe the Molina part with Castro coming back, but what does this team have against Al?

  125. Nightlife says:

So, Johan goes 7, leaves when we are up by 8, then we probably end up using 7 pitchers in 8th and 9th and win by 1.

  126. khmustache says:

the mets released al reyes? wow…

  127. Metfreak says:

Why would the release a guy that never pitched ?I wonder if he was hurt

  128. metsmad22 says:

he must have been throwin 80 mile an hour fastballs or something (al reyes)

    • racemccloud says:

That’s crazy, because I’m pretty sure they’d let me pitch, and I throw about 20 mph. On a good day. With tennis balls.

  129. EV says:

How do you release a guy that NEVER APPEARED IN A GAME?

  130. miker94 says:

now that’s how you play baseball, nice. now let’s build on this, if johan goes 8 1/3, we’ll need about 6 more runs to protect the last 2/3 of bullpen help.

  131. patrick says:

Any chance they could send Heilman home?

  132. khmustache says:

serious question for anybody out there: if you are signed by a team but you never appear in a game are you actually a member of the team…or is this like a moonlight graham type of thing?

  133. Gary Busey says:

Manny Acta really likes how his bullpen pitches to the Mets, I guess

  134. metsmad22 says:

if a relief pitcher falls in the woods, does he make a sound?

  135. huge_mets_fan11 says:

41 pitches through 3 innings, Johan, lower that a little bit.

  136. ReyesMets says:

    Babe Schneider!!!

  137. Metfreak says:

    Piazza is that you?

  138. khmustache says:

    BRIAN “PIAZZA” SCHNEIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  139. MetsFan4Decades says:

OMG - Brian does it again !! Brian looking good tonight.

  140. BigPelf4prez says:

    TEST THIS MAN PLEASE!!!

  141. cousinrk says:

Who the heck woke up BSchneid? Wow

  142. DavidDog says:

    ahaha lol schneiderman!

  143. dazedandconfused says:

    our backstop is on fire!

  144. EV says:

    Schneider Squared!!!!

  145. DavidDog says:

wright looked so gloomy and angry in the dugout while everyone else was laughing and congratulating schneider…

  146. 69mets86 says:

BRIAN SCHNEIDER IS THE F-ING MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Santana owes him a few brewskies!

  147. Metfreak says:

Ok I think the rest of the Mets have to chip in and get Wright a hooker or something to relax

  148. MetsFan4Decades says:

Man, Wright just cannot catch one lousy break.

  149. metsmad22 says:

man, the more they talk about the cubs, the more i pray we win the division, not the WC. CHI will rip us in wrigley.

  150. khmustache says:

    dang…that was a double

  151. garfios says:

Wright is looking so bad at the plate, and when he does get a good wood on the ball is right at somebody.

  152. metsforever says:

This lead won’t be enough until Schneider hands Johan the ball after the last out of the 9th. Score some more and damn the unwritten rules about running it up.

  153. dcmetsfan says:

So, to recap: two homers from Schneider, an RBI from Church, and Milledge misplays a ball in center.

Omar must be loving tonight’s game.

  154. metsforever says:

It’s good that the Brewer pen $uck$ as bad as the Mets. Met fan knows what Brew Crew fan feels today.

  155. metsmad22 says:

i dont feel bad for the brewers who got swept by the phils which led to this hot streak of the phils and thus contributed to our present situation!

  156. patrick says:

    damn it

  157. Metfreak says:

Its ok thats Johan on the mound

  158. MetsFan4Decades says:

And that’s why we pay him the big bucks.

  159. patrick says:

    BALLS OUT M$^TH#%FU$%ER

  160. Nightlife says:

    Santana is the man.

  161. patrick says:

    Fly ball Church.

    Fly ball.

  162. ReyesMets says:

If the Mets have an inning in which they don’t score a run, how quickly will it be until we start seeing the obligatory “the offense has eased up” here?

  163. Metfreak says:

    NICE

  164. Metfreak says:

I would love to know what Johan record would of been if it wasn’t for our great bullpen

  165. garfios says:

Well not 64 (maybe 30), but he could had been a 20 game winner.

  166. dazedandconfused says:

    Brian McC-unt!

  167. ReyesMets says:

    Johan is really unbelievable

  168. khmustache says:

    great inning there!

  169. Sylar says:

    Santana is a beast

  170. dwright57 says:

Gary suggesting the mets should try and get Soria…..

dude is 24 years old and is nice!!! 40 saves with that team…..

    Omar would be da man!

  171. DavidDog says:

how hot are the frikken fish?!?

on the one hand, it’s good that they should be up for the phils series, on the other, i really wouldn’t want them to be in it when they come to shea for that last series (although i’m sure they’ll try to take us down no matter what)

  172. khmustache says:

go take a look at the espn poll question that’s posted on the front page…it made me throw up a little in my mouth

  173. khmustache says:

crap….got some wood on that one…

  174. iceshotkid says:

I am selling my winning lottery registration. I already have $1,500 in playoff tickets and need to make up some of that cost.
Email me at bigbobsginger@yahoo.com if you are interested

  175. khmustache says:

    nice hit danny boy…all business….

oops sorry…i meant nice hit daniel

  176. Metfreak says:

    I hate Victorino

  177. khmustache says:

    victorino is a jerk

  178. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Damn Pat Burrell 2 run hr

  179. Sylar says:

    Fudgetastic, 4-2 Phils

  180. khmustache says:

    victorino’s still a jerk

  181. Metfreak says:

I think they should have Murphy start a game at 3rd and Evans in the OF

  182. khmustache says:

did you guys know that a toll free hotline has been established for all homeowners in adjustable rate or high interest rate loans…and your credit score might not even matter?

  183. rockets212 says:

would you consider putting wright 5th like back in 2005? itll let beltran hit 3rd and delgado hit 4th

  184. miker94 says:

there is nothing the mets can lose by benching wright for ONE night…play my ball sac over him at this point, who cares who it is. just put ANYONE in there for ONE night and give this kid a rest. he needs a break because he is simply awful lately. when he gets a break, he comes back strong. it’s not like him out of the lineup is any less potent. rest him damnit! we need him next week and beyond, I hope!

    • NYP-BOS-NYP says:

“Hard ground ball to third, and …. right by the third baseman, Mike’s ball sac!

“Boy, Keith, that ball sac just sat there.

“Yeah, no heart at all, Gary.”

ahem. Sorry, I was amusing myself.

I do think David could do with a day to get his head on straight, but really, at this point in the proceedings, we’ve got to have someone there, and I’m not sure who that could be. Easley might have been able to fill in there before the quad, but now?

      • khmustache says:

        that was funny…love it..

gary “and mike’s ball sac to lead off the inning…”

betcha they’d give him number 17

        • miker94 says:

oh my God that is so funny! i didn’t think my “ball sac” comment would produce such humor! thanks! but you do get my point right?

        • khmustache says:

yeah i do…i just don’t think jerry will do it…if it was even 2 weeks ago he might have, but not this late

  185. WrightsRight says:

I would love nothing more than Victorino and Werth to collide in the outfield.

  186. garfios says:

Chipper error opens the gate for the phillies, I don’t know, when he plays against us , he is always perfect on the field and at the plate.

  187. TheMetsJetsNets says:

Santana is really pitching good today. His change up is amazing

  188. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Come on, Johan.

  189. garfios says:

Leave Murphy along, Wright has so much up, that he has struggle badly the past few days and still he is having a monster year. He will figure this one out, he has too much experience around him for not too.

  190. garfios says:

    Here comes Dukes K

  191. khmustache says:

    gorgeous k!

  192. therealsince86 says:

LOL, you have got to love Dukes striking out looking on an 85 mph pitch right down the middle.

  193. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

guy is an absolute horse out there. would not want anyone else

  194. Metfreak says:

    The best ace since Gooden

    • Gasface77 says:

Remember in the beginning of the season when everyone here was killing Santana. All the blah blah blah about being an ace, pitching past the 7th inning, not being the stopper…..

I am embarras$ed for people that said that stuff earlier in the year. Guy is better than advertised. I know this is the Nationals, but he is making them look like a little league team.

  195. el_giacomo says:

    Out of the jam! Excellent!

  196. garfios says:

Are this Braves not going to win a lousy game, S@#T! we have to sweep them too.

    • el_giacomo says:

I really hope we do sweep them as I will be there at Turner on Sunday! Every time I’ve been to a Mets vs. Braves game at Turner, it has been the last game of a sweep. Some in our favor, some in theirs.

  197. Peter says:

I just read on my yahoo page Al Reyes was cut???

  198. garfios says:

    Degados HR

  199. WrightsRight says:

okay…now even though the marlins hate the mets, i’m sure they’ll try vs. the phillies as opposed to the braves. plus the marlins have an outside, very outside chance, of making the postseason.

    • KinersKornerman says:

wasn’t the fight between Miguel Olivo and Reyes? Who else hates us?

Poor Sandy Alomar took a punch. He’s much tougher than Zimmer.

  200. hardwareman says:

just tuned into the game…last night when murphey was in the lineup…I had a feeling it was going to be successful. same feeling tonight. I see he is having another good night. He should stay our numer two hitter…very patient, and an excellent two strike hitter…giving reyes a better chance to steal

    • KinersKornerman says:

He’s definitely a big plus in the 2-spot. Only thing you can say bad about him is he runs funny on a triple.

  201. Metfreak says:

Braves better win tonight I don’t see the Braves losing 6 games in a row and I hate Harris

  202. khmustache says:

said it last night and i’ll say it again…willie harris is the devil

  203. KinersKornerman says:

Willie Harris is the only Nats OF that knows how to catch a ball. Can we trade Castillo for him?

  204. rsbayridge says:

hopefully the braves tie up the phils and beat them in a 17 inning marathon

  205. therealsince86 says:

Why couldn’t he have hit that to Dukes or Milledge. That would have been funny. One of them would have left with a black eye.

  206. ReyesMets says:

Are you a tough guy — with tender skin??

    SO AM I!!!

    So I got Shave Zone!

  207. therealsince86 says:

Ruben Gotay strikes out for Atlanta. Boy all those Gotay fans sure have disapeared this season. I don’t know how it’s possible but his numbers are worse than Awful Reyes’s.

  208. miker94 says:

anyone know what johan’s pitch count is?

  209. racemccloud says:

Why would they take Hamels out?

  210. dazedandconfused says:

    Crap! don’t walk this guy!

  211. DavidDog says:

it’s official. the nats take last place in tv coverage as well, their broadcast might be a hair better than the marlins, but their camera angles and directing (choice of shots, replays, graphics) are just the pits. not to speak of the mile-high booths gary, keuth, ronnie, howie etc. keep complaining about. How do you mess up so bad on a brand-new ballpark?

  212. das320 says:

walking a .083 hitter in Montz is not great, but he is pitching well otherwise

  213. Metfreak says:

I think this might be the last inning for Johan

  214. khmustache says:

    poop

  215. WrightsRight says:

    anderson hernandez. how?

  216. das320 says:

so the shut out is over…..and the heart attack is beginning if the blow pen is coming in

  217. therealsince86 says:

Alright can we trade for that Hernandez guy? I would give them Awful Reys, Castillo and 10 million dollars.

  218. The Slider says:

That JO Omar Infante was swinging from his heels with runners on second and third with two outs and the Braves down one run. All he needed to do was choke up a bit and get a single and the Braves would be up by one.

  219. garfios says:

WTF,Hernandez could not hit a soccer ball when he was with us, and now he has became Rod Carew. Oh boy Guzman almost F*^$t for us. Good

  220. DavidDog says:

well the braves got to within 1

  221. das320 says:

whew! that was close! guzman scares me man

  222. khmustache says:

    huzzah!

  223. patrick says:

Infante is batting 5th, what do you expect

  224. dazedandconfused says:

    good job santa claus!

  225. KinersKornerman says:

Johan is a warrior. Exhale everybody. Only 6 outs to go.

  226. das320 says:

    NICE JOB JOHAN!!

  227. Nightlife says:

    JOOOOOOO-HAAAAAAN

  228. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Damn, Santana 107 pitches through 7 innings

  229. patrick says:

    Well Johan is spent.

My stomach is getting ready to rumble.

  230. DavidDog says:

pretty sure johan is done. can they get 6 outs without giving up 6 runs?

  231. garfios says:

That is the same Infante that has so much patience when hitting against Mets pitching. We need 10 runs now, Santana is going to be out the game

  232. therealsince86 says:

107 pitches for Johan. Do you let him start the next inning or go with Parnell?

  233. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Santana is worth every penny.

  234. khmustache says:

    marlon in…santana out….buckle up everybody

  235. KinersKornerman says:

Did Manny Acta really take out his best hitter on a double switch? Seems foolish.

  236. therealsince86 says:

I would give Parnell a shot. Would seem to be the perfect time to do it.

  237. patrick says:

    Anderson. Why?

  238. garfios says:

He’s done, they should be able to trade 6 out for 4 runs.

  239. garfios says:

And what is Marlon doing here, Santana at this point is a better hitter than him, I should say.

    • DavidDog says:

agreed-at least tonight, he was swinging very well. i would have considered letting him bat even if you were gonna get him off the mound

  240. miker94 says:

    AAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!!!

  241. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Here we go….

  242. miker94 says:

WHY would they take santana out!!!!!???? Damnit! you have to be kidding me! come on, he can hit better than anderson and can pitch better after 120 pitches than any pitcher in the pen…damnit already!

    • DAG says:

if the pen can’t protect a 6 run lead in 2 innings they don’t deserve to go to Atlanta, let alone make the playoffs. Gotta keep Santana fresh for the next start.

  243. garfios says:

Here we go guys and gals, hold on to you chairs, and have the 911 on speed dial just in case you have an heart attack.

  244. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

strap in folks, we are going on a ride

  245. patrick says:

Anyone feeling that runner on third in the first?

    Anyone?

    • ReyesMets says:

How about those four runs we knocked in with 2 outs in the second and third innings?? Do those not count as coming through??

  246. SantanaCYYOung says:

    i can’t believe i’m nervous with a 6 run lead in the 8th

  247. garfios says:

I got a good feeling today, you always do you job JS.

  248. WrightsRight says:

    Final Score Prediction: 7-4

Bullpen won’t blow it but they’ll make it interesting.

  249. SantanaCYYOung says:

    5 more outs

  250. domosnacks5 says:

    There’s one.

It seems like Joe’s been throwing a wiffleball lately his ball has so much freakin movement

  251. SantanaCYYOung says:

    great, here we go

  252. patrick says:

    Here it comes…

  253. garfios says:

Just don’t fall behind, you see one out, one single.

  254. cousinrk says:

KEVIN CAN WE GET BACK TO THE GAME PLEASE? THANKS

  255. khmustache says:

is burkhardt really tall or is johan really short?

  256. das320 says:

I love them interviewing Johan so I can have my attention diverted

  257. garfios says:

we are going to put 2 more runs in the 9th.

  258. SantanaCYYOung says:

    4 more outs

  259. ReyesMets says:

Longoria 3 home runs tonight! Wow

  260. khmustache says:

sit down boonie….go play some pickup basketball…

  261. garfios says:

    burkhardt is really tall.

  262. DavidDog says:

i really am not too concerned today

  263. mookie says:

    4 more to go!

  264. huge_mets_fan11 says:

Wow, Longoria has 3 HRs tonight

    • miker94 says:

yeah, i live in tampa, i’m watching the rays on tv and the mets on the computer, just like every night. that kid is sick!

      • metsforever says:

Why doesn’t anybody go to the games there? They should be thrilled. I watched the games against the RedSox and it looked like Fenway south.

        • miker94 says:

actually, as of 2 nights ago it was packed. other than that, it’s empty. disgusting if you ask me. the people in this town are front runner fans. when the rays make the playoffs, it will be packed next year. just like when the lightning won the cup, it was empty for years, now you can’t even get a ticket. same for the bucs after they won the super bowl. crappy sports town. i’ve been here 8 years and never once have i seen a rays flag hanging from a car, or a tshirt or anything. the last few weeks, they are everywhere. makes me sick!

  265. miker94 says:

ya know, seeing as how competitive santana is, and after his first year in the NL, I can see him coming back next year as the BEST hitting pitcher in the NL. I can see him working so hard, and he already has the tools. he’s that good.

  266. SantanaCYYOung says:

    that was a strike

  267. Metfreak says:

    Always with 2 outs

  268. garfios says:

WTF, the Umps are against us too.

  269. SantanaCYYOung says:

uhoh, this is how it starts

  270. khmustache says:

    alright…still okay…one more joe

  271. SantanaCYYOung says:

why do you throw anything remotely close to the strike zone on 0-2??????

  272. therealsince86 says:

    LOL

  273. khmustache says:

    crapola…

  274. domosnacks5 says:

just get a groundout here joseph. that run means nothing.

  275. garfios says:

Longoria is a good looking ball player, he has the tools to became a super star. This is ridiculous they just can’t put a 0 on the board.

  276. DavidDog says:

ahaha o my god this is too funny

  277. MetsFan4Decades says:

I can do without these nightly adventures on the way to a W please….

  278. Metfreak says:

Really now how can any member of this bullpen look at themselves in the mirror’s and say they are good

  279. metsforever says:

    Looks like it’s on

  280. Dafatone80 says:

Why would we go to smith with a 6 run lead?

I don’t mind that he’s getting hit a little. It happens.

But he’s one of our best pitchers. I’d think you’d throw in a guy like Parnell, and use Smith if you get into trouble.

  281. SantanaCYYOung says:

    3 more outs

  282. ReyesMets says:

    beautiful play, David

  283. khmustache says:

great play there wright! great play!

  284. The Slider says:

De va ju all over again.

  285. patrick says:

Fair to Wright, that was a good recovery on that pick…nicely done

  286. dazedandconfused says:

    there we freakin go!

  287. SantanaCYYOung says:

wright is going to hit one out in the 9th, i can just feel it

  288. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Nice play.
    Whew.
    3 more outs, 3more outs.
I’d like to get a look at Al Reyes. Wait……

  289. Metfreak says:

I am sorry I live and Die with the Mets but I am at a point where this bullpen is just really funny to watch now

    • therealsince86 says:

      I agree.

      • fongulalou says:

For the first time in all my years as a Met fan, I really
DO ExPECT the bullpen tonot only get in trouble BUT
give up runs EVERY TIME we go to them. AND I lived
through the late 70s.b/t/w, HArd to give him his props
(he’s so unlikeable) BUT Francessa was right today
in calling this pen the worst he’s seen on a contending team

  290. WrightsRight says:

never in the history of baseball has the following statement been said with a 5 run lead in the 9th inning:

    “We need some tack-on runs”

  291. therealsince86 says:

I would like to see them go with Parnell here. No reason to go with any of the usual suspects.

  292. garfios says:

    I don’t feel it, I hope thought

  293. huge_mets_fan11 says:

David Price looks like the real deal too, man he’s got nasty stuff.

  294. khmustache says:

    the no thugs switch…

  295. garfios says:

Yes I’ll change the pace with the bp.

  296. khmustache says:

damn…where’s milledge when you need him

  297. garfios says:

I starting to feel bad for DW, he is looking down.

  298. SantanaCYYOung says:

    no runs since the 5th

  299. WrightsRight says:

tough two nights for wright, although he ran into some bad luck with zimmerman.

  300. Metfreak says:

I think everytime a memeber of the pen comes in the game they should play the song send in the clowns

  301. therealsince86 says:

Man what happen to Milledge. That would have been an inside the park HR there.

  302. metsforever says:

    Miker94,

Why doesn’t anybody go to the games down there? They should be thrilled. I watched the games against the RedSox and it looked like Fenway south.

    • miker94 says:

look above, i answered you up there, sorry

      • metsforever says:

That’s horrible. Some of us were talking at work today. We can’t even scalp tickets to Fenway up here without a second mortgage. The folks down there should be so pumped to see a bunch of kids playing their a$$es off and beating the Sox and Yankees.

  303. SantanaCYYOung says:

i can’t believe the phillies are going to win again, does this team ever lose in mid to late september?

  304. garfios says:

This Braves are a joke, I don’t how we can have a losing record against them this year.

  305. stickguy says:

yeah, Smith pitches nearly every day (80 games now), and did not look sharp yesterday.

Why the heck pitch him with a 6 run lead?

Parnell, or even Reyes, would have been worth a shot thee. Especially Parnell, your 2009 closer in waiting!

  306. garfios says:

5 runs in the 9th should be more than enough.

  307. SantanaCYYOung says:

lidge coming in for the bottom of the 9th, this would be a good time for the 1st blown save of the season for him

  308. garfios says:

    Throw strikes you Pus@*Y

  309. SantanaCYYOung says:

    2 more outs

  310. MetsFan4Decades says:

They can’t ever do anything easy….

  311. SantanaCYYOung says:

ugh, did this team ever hear of a 1-2-3 inning?

  312. garfios says:

I don’t like Schos, not even ahead with 10 runs, he is a nibbler

  313. miker94 says:

    metsforever here is your answer,

actually, as of 2 nights ago it was packed. other than that, it’s empty. disgusting if you ask me. the people in this town are front runner fans. when the rays make the playoffs, it will be packed next year. just like when the lightning won the cup, it was empty for years, now you can’t even get a ticket. same for the bucs after they won the super bowl. crappy sports town. i’ve been here 8 years and never once have i seen a rays flag hanging from a car, or a tshirt or anything. the last few weeks, they are everywhere. makes me sick!

    • WrightsRight says:

if it’s not college football, they just don’t give a crap in florida.

    • miker94 says:

metsforever, i saw your post above and you are right. a lot of it has to do with the fact that it’s a dome. and a crappy dome at that. it’s like being in an orange tinted box when you are in there. it’s much better this year from years past cuz they added dirt to the turf. yeah, believe that. and added lights. either way, it’s NOT a baseball experience when you are there. either way, next year, it will be packed, expect that!

  314. racemccloud says:

    THROW. STRIKES. MORON.

  315. chronique1 says:

“Mets aren’t taking any chances” So…. why is Show out there?

  316. khmustache says:

    come on sho…groundball

  317. patrick says:

    Tightrope

  318. Metfreak says:

    OK Get him out

  319. MetsFan4Decades says:

    Uh….NEXT.

  320. patrick says:

What do you expect Show? Good lord, get outs dick

  321. D-Day says:

    WORST BULLPEN EVER!!!!

  322. SantanaCYYOung says:

show didn’t even wait for jerry to get to the mound before he left

  323. stickguy says:

my goodness, another nail biting adventure in the 9th? with a 5 run lead., let them put the ball in play, instead of nibbling your way to 3-0.

and I expect we see multiple pitchers again? No other team has to do this, do they?

  324. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

y is this guy still breathing?

  325. patrick says:

If they blow this. The season is over.

  326. garfios says:

JAJAJAH, of course if you pitch behind, that is what happens, he has no B%$LS, I don’t like him at all.

  327. dazedandconfused says:

somebody should put this pen out of their misery!

  328. cousinrk says:

How has Pepto or Imodium or Tums not gotten in on this situation and sponsered every Mets pitching change?

  329. chronique1 says:

Lets look at the score with the different equations:

Starting Pitching: Score is read 7-2

Mets Bullpen: Score is read 7-6

  330. dazedandconfused says:

Brad lidge gets it done in 2 minutes and the mets are gonna take 20

  331. Metfreak says:

Just think if it wasn’t for our bullpen we could of been better then 06

  332. racemccloud says:

Phillies win. Damn it. Can they effin’ LOSE already?!

  333. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    phills won of course

    braves are pathetic

  334. khmustache says:

    the fillies win…poop

  335. dazedandconfused says:

    where the hell is Ayala?

  336. MetsFan4Decades says:

Phils win 4-3. Can you see us coming into the 9th with a one run lead? I would be almost afraid to watch….

  337. garfios says:

Santana only gave up 1 run

  338. WrightsRight says:

crap…will philly ever lose again? i mean, seriously, will they? I think the mets have to play as if the Phillies are going to win the next 139 games.

  339. Metfreak says:

    FOR THE LOVE OF GOD

  340. D-Day says:

man, even if we had a halfway decent bullpen we would have the divison wraped up by now and be gearing up for the playoffs. but we are where we are because of them. makes me sick and those guys out there should be ashamed

    • WrightsRight says:

i agree…they are pathetic (though the Brewers’ pen can also claim that as well). But Mets have at least 90 wins now without those sorry losers.

  341. dazedandconfused says:

    This bullpen lacks something?

    Oh yeah balls and talent!

  342. SantanaCYYOung says:

never thought that would happen! yes

  343. MetsFan4Decades says:

    THANK YOU !!

  344. racemccloud says:

Oh, and Chipper Jones struck out swinging to end it. If he only ever played the Mets, he’d be the greatest player who ever lived. He bends over and takes it from the Phils.

  345. khmustache says:

DONE AND DONE!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER DOUBTED FOR A SECOND!!!

  346. garfios says:

The baseball gods gave us this one

  347. Koko says:

    Lucky b*stards.

  348. therealsince86 says:

    Whew nail bitter, 7-2.

    • SantanaCYYOung says:

believe that, i was having trouble breathing there for a sec

btw, what do you call a “nail biter” when you have no more nails left?

    • miker94 says:

oh my God that is so funny, to call a 5 run lead a nail biter. only the mets…

  349. imtiredofguiseppefranco says:

    cue the music-

    taking care of business

  350. kdubs says:

Put it in the books! Let’s keep it going..just keep believing…

  351. Metfreak says:

We better win that series with the Braves

  352. stickguy says:

oh boy. A win. And only a little mild heartburn, no major angst.

Expect the Phils to run the table. SO, the key thing is the Stos and Brewers either lost or are well on their way to.

and I am not picky. I won’t feel offended if they make the playoffs via the WC>

    • WrightsRight says:

yes, but i really, really want the division. but yes, i can see phillies winning out. They are so locked in right now.

Mets MUST not let the Turner demons get to them this weekend. This weekend could truly be sink or swim.

  353. dazedandconfused says:

    That was easy!

  354. D-Day says:

man, at this rate the mets and phils will be in the playoffs. i REALLY want the division cause i dont want the phillies to win ANYTHING but playoffs are playoffs.

  355. garfios says:

    Santana 7 inn-1 run, 8 hits
Pen 2 inn-1 run 5 hits and we were lucky.

  356. DavidDog says:

as i predicted before the series started, the braves willingly would bend over and get swept by phl, and now they’ll beat up on the mets. hopefully the fish take 2 of 3 from them again

    • D-Day says:

well hope the mets man up. only way the braves beat up on the us is if we let them. we NEED 2 of 3. and good thing is the fish have owned the phils this season.

  357. garfios says:

We have to win every game from now on, and I want the division not the WC. F&*CK the PHillies, by the way if I was hitting against Lidge I’ll just sit on the slider, that is the only thing he throws for strike.

  358. racemccloud says:

Lidge is not going to be perfect this year. He’s going to blow one. And when he does… it’s gonna be huge.

    • Jaded1983 says:

and how sweet would it be for it to be the deciding game of the NLCS when we face the phillies??? cause you know either the mets or the phils are winning the wild card.

      LETS GO METS!

    • D-Day says:

lidge has been great this year but hes a headcase. if he blows one down the stretch it will put him in a funk for the rest of the season, gauranteed!!

  359. D-Day says:

heard it on the fan and makes sense, i hope the cubs wrap up their division by the time they play us. if that happens and they are playing out the season theyll go light on their starters and pull them early in games and well have an even better shot, the games wont mean anything to them but mean the world to us. we’ll see

  360. chronique1 says:

    Gameball -> Johan and Schneider

  361. dazedandconfused says:

    nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! ill kill you!!!!!!!
