I don't share the sentiment among many that Pedro has nothing left to contribute this year. While his career may very well be over after this year, Pedro brings a wealth of post season experience. If we're going to the post season, we'll need a 4th starter. Very close toss up if you use Pedro or the unproven Niese or even Knight or Figgy. I say the nod goes to Pedro with a short lease.

Last night: one run scored b/c the ump allowed 4 outs by that bad call at second with the strike 'em out, throw 'em play. That inning should have been over. And Pedro knocked in both Met runs. Why is it the rest of the offense couldn't show up for run support? Very frustrating that they can score 9 the night before but hitters 1-8 can't get in one run the next night....

The Mets have only 2 wins left before they reach their magic miss-the-playoffs number of 88 wins. This is what they won when they missed the playoffs in 97, 98, and 07...a week from tomorrow, we will be able to add 08 to the list.

NL East will go to the Phillies
NL Wildcard will go to the Brewers
The Mets will lose today, and four straight to the Cubs, virtually ending the season by Sept. 26 (start of the Marlins series).

And Pedro knocked in all the runs last night, hard to get too mad at just him.

Pelfrey has been great, and today he needs to continue his march to being the #2 starter for this team for years to come.

Many would blame Pedro for this loss, but the offense didn't show up. Pedro had a decent start, allowing 3 runs kept them close enough that the team should've battled back.
