but isn't that why a GM is paid the big bucks? to find those guys.

Phillies GM saw something in Eyre. Now they're ahead of us. Again. At a minimum, Omar should have blocked ANY move the Phillies wanted to make.

A little harsh. but not too much!

Ight now out of the pen, I would take Smith, Stokes and Ayala for next year.

Smith as a righty specialist+. Stokes and Ayala as some sombo of set up guys and long man (stokes could be a swing guy).

Heilman needs to go someplace to start. Pedro F and Schoe I have seen enough of.

I actually am really intriqued by Parnell. he could be the type of guy that can move into the closer role (your cretive thinking), or maybe a shut-down 8th inning guy.

SO from the guys on hand, Smith, Ayala, Parnell and Stokes is 4 spots (hey, I am a math wizz!)

So Omar needs to fill in the final 3 spots. AT least 2 lefties, and (a big and) a closer unless you want to give Parnell or stokes or (eek) Ayala the job.

who knows, maybe Kunz will blossom by the spring and become a viable option.

So, IMO, while th epen needs a serious overhaul, it isn't quite as bad as some people think.

Mostly need to get some young power arms in there, and a shut down closer type would be nice.

It can be done. The phils got one for basically nothing this year!

choking dogs would never have collectively gotten this far, they are a dog with one lame leg (the bullpen) but you go ahead and crap on their lead and tell everyone how three games are already automatically done.

for everyone ready and willing to throw this on Ryan Church, can you please go back and remember that sans Church in April and early May the Mets likely have another 5 losses in the bank.

Comparing him to the woeful and wounded Luis Castillo is just pathetic. Castillo is an eyesore on the field.

As everything gets reviewed, rewound and reworked for the final 7 days...

Lets just all sit back and realize and no one be surprised that the reason the Mets are where they are is that the bullpen is filled with a plethora of very small gutted individuals.

As such even when they are poised to succeed they get BURNED, see Show yesterday, throws to consecutive spot sliders and the second is check swing flare to score the tying run.

And this goes all the way back to when Wee Willie Wagner was still here too.

If this bullpen was able to save just TWO, just TWO of the terrible mishaps they have dealt the rest of their teammates, they would head to Shea tonight with still a half game lead.

Smith is worth keeping and Feliciano despite his ups and downs still can get a big out more often than not.

Nobody else in that disaster should sniff a uniform at Citi Field next year.

I am not saying the Mets must get Rodriquez because I think that is a sinful amount of money for a guy I would expect to be visiting Dr. Andrews in the next 24 months. But they need to sit guys down in their system, like Kunz and Parnell among others and say, opportunity knocks, if you throw strikes and do not fear taking the ball you will pitch next year, success 100% of the time is not expected, but failure by fear of throwing inside or having the ball hit is not acceptable.

I agree with all points except Wright bunting with the bases loaded. That's crazy. The guy is starting to swing a hot stick again. We have too many guys cold in the lineup to be sacrificing power from the few places we get it...

the mets need to wake up as a whole in final home stand at Shea and Jerry manuel needs to wake up too. the mets need to flat out play aggressive small ball in the late innings...... do some drag bunting or regular bunts.......hit and run.........run from 1st to 3rd......swipe some bags.......this team needs to manufacture runs and not wait for the big hit be it a single or a homerun.

jose reyes needs to start putting the ball in play on the infield when there are men on base. he needs to stop putting the ball in the air. take the walks.........try to make a pitcher balk.

david wright needs to drop a bunt once in a while when the bases are loaded......( i understand that he is the best hitter on the team).....david needs to surprise the opposing team.

jerry......please...do some suicide squeeze.....and no more castillo in the lineup.

put Endy chavez in right field in the next game if Ryan Church continues to swing at low balls and go 0 for 4 tomorrow.

Yes, we better get the most out of Church and Schneider in the next yr or two, because for the next 10 the trade is gonna look horrible while Millege is putting up 25/25 seasons.
