Matt,
I couldnt relate to what you just said moree. My night from the point that Jason Marquis cleared the wall to the end of the game was spent lurched forward on my couch with my face in my hands and my girlfriend rubbing my back to calm me down. Then I couldnt sleep so I laid awake watching any replay I could find of the Mets hightlights just to torture myself. Luis Castillo's at bat to end the game was mind boggling. Just mind boggling. I just want him to go away.

Yeah it's Manuel's fault we have no bullpen.
It's the everyday players' fault we have no bullpen.

WE HAVE NO BULLPEN. For this everyone is ready to gut the team and ditch the manager? I hope there are no doctors posting on this site. Bad diagnosis. Someone has an infected toe and you want to cut off all four limbs.

As for denial, the Mets still have the lead in the wildcard. Do you want to members of the team to focus on last year's collapse and psych themselves into another one. Being in denial usually involves pretending something isn't so and therefore not dealing with it. No one is denying the bullpen is a problem. Frankly last year's collapse involved the bullpen rather prominently as well but whereas it seemed to have a domino affect on the rest of the team at times last year, this year the everyday players are generally producing and the established starters are pitching well. They are doing a good job of blocking out that counterproductive negative thought...the kind of cancerous thought that can make its content self fulfilling. But when the team loses, fans start flailing around and lash out at everyone connected with the team.

The collapse-obsessed media and fans have the potential to be a part of the problem--I don't see how this kind of negativity and anxiety is part of the solution.

Wow, guess we weren't focusing on the "keep it positive" point of that post, eh? We are ready to argue about everything here! (don't get me wrong, you have a somewhat valid point, just no need for it here...)

How can you dog Sabathia? Look at his record with the Brewers. Not only that, he's man enough to go out on short rest when he knows he won't even be there next season. If the Mets had someone who could man up like him, we not be talking about all this.

This talk of jinxes and lucky numbers is nothing short of idiotic. Are we really that desperate to have our own "Billy Goat" to whine about? Folks, we don't need the phantasms. Luis Castillo is all too real.

Sadly, it's hard to think any other way right now. Everytime I manage to get myself feeling optimistic, they crush my spirits once again. This is more frustrating than the end of the season should be.

Oh and I guess these "poor borrowers" should bear no responsibility on excepting loans they knew they could not afford.
