Oh nice, now instead of Enter Sandman, we get Seek and Destroy to finish the game….

  2. janss36 says:

Since some of us cannot listen online at work, what does Eddie C. think about the weekend weather diaster shaping up?

    • Furioso says:

      Rainout FRI
Pelfrey on Sat (skipping the mystery starter)
      Johan Sun
      Ollie Mon (if necessary)

Leaving….Pedro? to pitch a potential play-in game on Tues?

      OH NO WAY.

      They can do a DH:

      Fri: Rainout
      Sat: Spot starter/Pelfrey DH
      Sun: Johan

Leaving Ollie available for a potential play-in game on Mon. Though a DH almost guarantees a loss here.

      No really good choices here.

      • SovereignRonnie says:

Sadly, I feel more confident with Brandon Knight pitching one game of a DH than I do for Pedro pitching a one-game playoff. Sigh.

        • jimyager says:

NO DH !!! we ALWAYS loose one of the two and that could be the season right there. A DH would be the death of the METS .

    • Prismo says:

Adam M. thinks they should make Thursday’s ballgame an afternoon affair because it looks like sometime Thursday (right now around 8pm) it’s going to start POURING in the city and a delay won’t help.

      • Prismo says:

Actually, wow. On the latest run, Friday looks pretty bad as well.

Can you imagine if BOTH games are cancelled?

      • janss36 says:

        I’m thinking more:

        Thurs: Rain Out
        Fri: Rain Out
        Sat: 2 admission DH Pedro/Pelfrey
        Sun: Santana
        Mon: Oliver P.

Hope at that point there is no play-in game needed…

Did anyone else see the Dave Lennon chat and he said that the bone spur was bothering Maine’s rotator cuff? I thought the reports were saying that it was a muscle on his shoulder blade and was not affecting he arm? If thats case Maine should be shut down and have the surgery!!! We dont need to mess his arm up!!!!!!

  4. dulcetpine says:

please john, i hope that you aren’t trying to be the hero at the expense of your future, as happy as i am to see you return, i dont’ want to see you on the shelf longer or come back as a shell of yourself…

be smart. we respect that more…

  5. dancran says:

granted it’s a few days away but there is alot of rain forecasted for this weekend, especially Saturday. That should be interesting for their schedule.

I love Maine wanting to come back. Hopefully he’ll be able to help.

Go Perez. We need a win tonight.

    • janss36 says:

Dude, rain is forecast to start tomorrow afternoon and continue through Saturday morning… then on and off shower potential through Sunday evening…

We might be looking at Thursday/Friday cancellation….

  6. zen says:

why are they taking a chance with this kid’s career?

the mets better be right with their diagnosis.

  7. Arsenal13 says:

What is gonna happen with tickets for tomorrow’s game if it’s rained out

  8. John Maine would ask to pitch from a wheelchair. His job is to pitch as well as he can.

It’s up to Jerry Manuel to make the right decision and the medical staff and the trainers to advise him well.

  9. CaseStreet says:

I know we’re in the middle of pennant race and all, but I was wondering whether Maine’s surgery will keep him from Spring Training and the beginning of next season.

  10. ksuth says:

does anyone else feel if games are pushed back, all tickets should be pushed back so that those who purchased tickets to “the last regular season game @ shea” get to see what they paid for? (barring a one game playoff)

    • derxmasta says:

      the problem with that is
if the brewers self destruct and the last game isnt needed the mets probably wont play the “last game?”

      • ksuth says:

i meant barring a one game playoff, say they push back the saturday game…then the saturday tickets should flip to monday and so on, but the guys below seem to have answered me that the celebrations will probably just be on sunday anyway

        • janss36 says:

I see there being no game either tomorrow night or Friday night or both…

If tomorrow is cancelled (and they will do EVERYTHING to play it) that game would be flipped to Monday if necessary…

If Friday is cancelled they would likely try and double up on Saturday (weather permitting)…

    • janss36 says:

No… Monday’s game would likely be a day game… They are not going to sacrifice a Sunday sell out with baseball stars in attendance for a Monday make up…

    • mrose says:

I see no way that they can make a game after the last game at shea…. people have spent too much money, and they likely already have too much involved with people coming and things like that

      • janss36 says:

It would be funny to be there for ‘The Last Game at Shea’ festivities and they would be taking down to reveal the number ‘2′…

  11. ksuth says:

so the celebrations would still be on for sunday even if monday is the real final (regular season game) game?

    • derxmasta says:

Triple Header at Shea on Sunday
      12pm
      4pm
      8pm

      12 hrs of Mets
itll be like a twilight zone marathon on wb11

      • ksuth says:

i just called ticket office and they said as of right now nothing has been canceled…

        • derxmasta says:

they wont cancel until the last minute.
the last rain out they had a 2-3 hr rain delay before finally calling the game.

im just saying if they had a triple header (first ever in baseball?)
that would certainly close out shea with a bang!
          even tho its highly unlikely.

  12. HoJoWright says:

Rainouts always seem to hurt the Mets. Mets have to be strong no matter what happens. Hope the med staff is right letting Maine go. he has a chance to be the man. LETS GO METS.

lets win tonight and worry about mother nature tomorrow

  13. Met2Die08 says:

Lets hope he pitches tonight. At this point if we are up by at least 3 runs, he should get a shot at closing the game out.

  14. rave says:

Can anyone tell me what happened to Eddie Kunz? Why isnt he playing? is he hurt? I’d love to see him out there, we need all the help we can get.

    • truebluesince62 says:

He’s on the AAA roster….was up for awhile, used briefly and returned to AAA. Was not part of the September callups due to inactivity

  15. matthew says:

    save him for Pedro’s start!!
