The Mets rallied from three runs down to tie the game, then won it with a walk-off single from Carlos Beltran during a cold and raining 10th inning, giving him four walk-off hits during his four seasons with the team.
For more, go to Mets Walkoffs, where you’ll learn among other things, ‘Last night’s win came four years to the day of another Mets walk-off win against the Cubs.’

WOW!
Let’s Go Mets
What a game….
This team showed alot of gutz out there and ability to fight back…”Fighting Mets”…..na probably not since everyone doesnt like us anyway…you know how the whitesox lead collapsed..gee wonder why nobody is talking bout that. Oh i know why, they would rather focus on what happened LAST year rather than the collapse going on now(this is a shot at ESPN). I love this team and it was a great win. We got a series split and now we just need to take care of miami..which is no easy task….I am only upset that i wont be able to watch…go mets :(
you mean espn is going for the BIG story instead of reporting what is actually going on? I’m shocked.
BOTTOM OF THE NINTH! NOT TENTH!
Ryan Church is a really good dancer! I hope one day I can learn to break dance like Ryan Church!!
lol we may see ryan in next seasons “dancing with the stars” lol
I believe it may have been the Cha-Cha
Yes, that was a great win, but if the Mets make it into post-season, the first round will most likely be against these same Cubs and last night’s game was mainly against their bench. Piniella didn’t even use his main relievers in the late innings.
I don’t give the Mets a chance against this team next week, especially since Santana will have to be used this Sunday (or Monday) and will only be able to pitch once against the Cubs. Ollie and Pelf have been struggling. Sorry to be such a pessimist, but am just being realistic.
one step at a time joe
lets make the playoffs first
then we can discuss how they will flop
were you one of the people that were being a “realist” when the mets were 7 1/2 games out of first….or perhaps when colorado went into the playoffs against a red hot philly who just stole the division were going to be knocked out….or perhaps when the yankees last year were 14 1/2 out of first and were not going to make the playoffs….its not being a realist, its being pessimistic. You nor I know whats going to happen when/if the mets make the playoffs, so this is more of your opinion than being a realist because realistically nobody knows whats going to happen.
To be fair, that Rockies team was way more red-hot than the Phillies, or any team ever for that matter.
Looks like the hottest team going into the playoffs might be the Dodgers this years. And the Twins…go-go-Gomez!
you know, beyond tonight, beyond Saturday, beyond Sunday is just totally irrelevant at this point.
It is impossible to quantify what the repercussions on the psyches of these players particularly the core that will remain for at least three more years in Beltran, Wright, Santana, Reyes, Church, Pelfrey, Murphy
Whom the Mets play if they play and whether they got absolutely pasted in the first round playoff series is an after thought of almost delightful proportions considering where they are at the moment and where they have been, and been before that.
The funny thing is that if the Rookie 1B would’ve been a step closer to the game, it would’ve been the third out and we might’ve seen a repeat of Wednesday night. That’s why you have to play the game well and hope for some breaks.

Let’s Go Mets!
If Derek Lee was playing last night, he probably catches that ball. He’s 6′5 or however tall, and plays gold glove defense, and he would have probably reached it.
If Derek Lee played then Hoffpauir, who was 5-5 with 2 HRs and 5 Rbis wouldn’t have played, so you could look at this both ways.
Good point.
what if Lee came in for defense?
Carlos Beltran’s 4th walk of hit as a Met. …in 4 years.
He’s been amazingly clutch in these spots.
If that was sarcasm, it was ill-advised. Four walk-offs in four years is average, considering the Mets average less than 8 per year and Beltran has less than 1/8 of the team’s ABs in the last four years..
*above average, actually
