Oliver Perez will start tomorrow’s game versus the Marlins. As Johan Santana did today, Perez will be pitching on three-days rest for the second time in his career.
Perez made his last start on three-days rest on September 18, 2005 versus the Reds, allowing five runs, four earned, on five hits and five walks over 2.2 IP.
Meanwhile, following today’s win versus the Marlins, Jerry Manuel told reporters Pedro Martinez is the scheduled starter for Monday, if the Mets need to play a one-game playoff to win the Wild Card.
…pedro would be pitching on three days rest, but I would imagine Monday would be a ‘all hands on deck’ scenario…

last year the mets won the saturday game.. then they put the tom glavine a free agent after that year in and he was ran out of town after… Perez is a free agent after this season and pitching tom…. I hope history doesnt repeat

He usually does really well against the Fish.
He usually does well in big games (last Wed notwithstanding).
Only problem in your scenario is that they would have to get to game five for Santana to pitch the second time.
Just one of the advantages the Mets cost themselves with this slide is that Santana cant pitch games one and four. Game four being the one on short rest. They will likely have to use four starters instead of three, no one else should pitch on short rest, imo.
At least they regained a chance to even have that problem.
