I meant to say that if the Mets win, the Brewers will lose and if the Brewers win, the Mets may lose. It's really a psychological thing in my opinion. Even if it's not up in the scoreboard, you know the score leaks itself into the dug out at one point or another.

If someone were to flip a coin and say the Mets are in tomorrow or the Brewers are in with 50/50 odds, it may not be such a bad thing with Pedro going out there on Monday. Sort of weird how Ollie's that 50/50 type pitcher at times too. Realistically though, I think it'd be wise to believe the Brewers will win that game with their ace on the mound. Therefore, the Mets have to win. There is no season left if the Mets do not win tomorrow. You can't play not to lose, but rather to win.

Ollie going out there may seem like more of a coin flip more than his post-June/pre-September mode. But I believe if you're going to flip a coin tomorrow, it'll land on the side that is ours.

Something tells me the Brewers will lose tomorrow if the Mets win. Or if the Mets win, the Brewers will lose. If they were smart, they'd probably turn off the scoreboard. These two teams have a way of thriving off of the other not playing well. At least lately that's been the case. That is why the Mets have to have their command. The Brewers are a streaky team. Sabathia is on short rest (again). The Cubs can jump on him quick. It's essential the Cubs get out on top of the Brewers even if it's just a run or two because it can really will decide the momentum in that game.

The same way how people were on their feet and how this team was alert the entire game has to be this game too. Major things need to happen tomorrow.

Rule One: Do not give up a run in the 1st inning. If they do, it can very easily end in a loss. Especially if it's multiple runs. Not just can you not have a Tom Glavine type outing like the last day of last season, but Oliver has to be solid and start the game out right.

Oliver can not walk people. It's hard to have a short leash on a team with a horrendous bullpen, but it will be necessary if he doesn't hold it together. I do believe it's possible he'll give us that big start he's known for giving. He didn't the last time, but if he wants to add like 6 to 8 MM on his contract from who ever it is, this start can decide that. He'll be ready.

I hate to be pessimistic, but I believe it's necessary.

Here is what the Mets should do. If there is any way they can, pretend they loss yesterday. After that Monday loss, they won Tuesday. After the Wednesday loss, they won Thursday. After the Friday loss, they won Saturday. If they don't have that do or die approach from the first to the last pitch of the game - both pitching and hitting, they won't win the game tomorrow.

We need things to go our way. If it were up to me, I wouldn't mind just having that Monday game now. Anything that can get us there. What I worry about is Pedro's so ineffective on 4 days rest and even 5. How is he going to be able to handle 3?

A lot of people try to weight the pro's and con's of using Pedro Martinez vs another pitcher. This is based on normal rest. You can't go with Jon Niese. He's not an option. The Brewers ate him up. So did the Cubs. Brandon Knight might be though. That's still a ways away though.

What a game. I didn't see it. I heard some of it. It truly was a great performance by Johan Santana. This game proved to be that Johan Santana is by far the most valuable Met. If the Mets do somehow make the playoffs, he really should enter the Cy Young discussion.
