Wow. Did someone actually say that David Wright is the poor man's Ryan Braun? You have got to be kidding me. Talk about a pathetic statement. Ryan Braun is a second-year player. He's had a good run ... SO FAR. David Wright has been a star for the Mets since he came up in 2004. In 2006 and 2007, and in many games in 2008, he was quite a clutch performer. He has an excellent work ethic, is accountable, and he knows how to play. He's respected throughout the league by players and managers alike ... and by MOST fans. What kind of a fan would turn on a player like David Wright because he/she got his/her feelings hurt that the team didn't come through this year. This team had SO many problems, but the most glaring was that horrendous bullpen. I find it amazing that they got to the last day of the season, which just showed me that they didn't give up. Just how far would this team have gone in the play-offs with that bullpen? Three and out, is my opinion. I understand the frustration, but do we really need to be dissing David Wright right now? I mean, come on people. Get ahold of yourselves. Ryan Braun will come down to earth soon enough and I wonder if his team's fans will turn on him? He is a nice player, but we are extremely lucky to have one of the top five players in the league on our team. Yes, that's David Wright. From what I can gather from such obtuse statements as the one I'm commenting on, David Wright is not allowed to be a human being. Well, he is a human being. News flash: Human beings are not perfect. They fail. And, sadly, the amount of money a human being makes does not somehow cancel out any human frailties a person has. It's perplexing to me that many sports fans tend to put athletes in a little box. They expect athletes to be nothing more than high-performance robots who do not fail ... EVER. And, if they make a lot of money, these athletes are expected to perform at even a higher level. I'm guessing that David Wright would've probably given 10 years of his life to come through in any one of those situations where he failed. Not because he cares that an obtuse Mets fan is selling him down the river for "boy of the moment" Ryan Braun, but because he bleeds orange and blue. Because he wants to succeed and he wants to give the Mets fans something to cheer about ... like he's done consistently since he came to the big leagues. It's shameful to see that there are fans who have forgotten all of the amazing accomplishments in his young career. All I can say is that it's a fortunate thing for hundreds of players that the Hall of Fame committee takes into account an entire career ... not just the last five minutes; otherwise, all that would be displayed in the Hall of Fame would be spider webs and a bust of Vin Scully.

Ebbetts Field = Citi Field

"wait 'till next year!" = Brooklyn Dodgers

"wait 'till next year!" = New York Mets

Grrrrrrrrrr............Wilpon gets his wish.

We stink. And he sells 4 million tickets in the process.

Branch Rickey said the best product is a team that finishes in 2nd place. You are "in the race" and have "some meaningful games all season long...into September."

Sound familiar?

Yeah, I watch just about every game. The game you talk about, not getting the runner in from 3rd with 0 outs is outnumbered 10 -1 with blowing 2,3,4 run leads in the eighth and ninth innings.

As one other poster put it, if you just upgrade the bullpen to pathetic the team wins the division by at least 6 games.
