What I don't understand is the Mets have one of the worst bullpens in baseball. Certainly the worst of any team contending for the playoffs. So the answer is let's trade David Wright. Yeah, that's it.

Plus everyone has it wrong anyway. A trade is never about who you give up it's what you get back. You could never get true value for Wright. This is not fantasy baseball where you can convince your little brother to trade you 9 all-stars for one player. He's one of the best hitting 3b in baseball. He has a reasonable contract.

I just don't get it.

You guys complain about Francessa too much. He doesn't even hate the Mets like most of you claim. I have been listening to his show for years and he is usually fair to the Mets. And I am sure all of you would be more then fair to the Yankees if you ran a radio show (rolls eyes). It was Dogg that used to try to get everybody all crazy with his nonsense. People that actually think rationally realize trading Wright or Reyes should be a real possibility, especially Wright.

The rest of you just give the same answer. He is the face of the franchise! Yopu are so stupid!

Other people realize the Mets have not done anything besides underachieve while Wright was here. Is it his fault? No. Is he untouchable? No way.

i love church. he's a gamer. his arm is a beauty and his defense is gold glove caliber.

He was haven't a breakout year before he went down.
he would of been an allstar if it wasn't for the injuries. he did hit a bunch of doubles when he was in that huge park the nats use to have. he said his doubles would change to homers and he did hit 10 by then end of the first month this season.

to say he hates new york is false. the guy played trough a hip injury and wanted to play trough a concussion !
he's a grinder. churchy is here to stay.

lets just hope he comes back healthy next season and is ready to play.

p.s. francesa is a fat cow ! mets hater bigtime he is -_-

Actually, this is the funniest comment of all. Because -- and you'd have to go back a ways here to find it -- but around the time Church was due to come back, someone did an analysis and discovered an amazing similarity between Church's stats and Tatis' stats. I forget who it was who came up with this (and if you're here, I apologize), but the numbers were so close that Matt actually posted a main article here about it. At that point in time, Fernando Tatis and Ryan Church had played in nearly the same number of games, had nearly the same number of at bats, and every major statistic was within five or ten points -- batting average, HR/2B/3B, OBP, OPS, etc., etc.

So in answer to your question -- either one. They performed virtually identically, up until the last month or so of the season.

"Right field is a power hitting position"

Um, I hate to break this to you, techwon, but Right Field is a fielding position. Hence the word "field" in the title. Nobody bats in right field, except maybe during batting practice.

Yeah, yeah, I know what your'e saying. But what you're saying is ludicrous. There are no rules that say players in certain positions have to hit home runs, and players in other positions don't. That's about the stupidest comment you've made so far.

Church, as has been demonstrated here repeatedly, hits many extra base hits. He just happens to hit more doubles and triples than home runs. And I have no problem with that. He gets on base and he scores. And he drives in runs. To discount all that and say he is worthless because he doesn't hit enough home runs for a right fielder is stupid beyond words.

I remember a game back in August or so, Sanchez came in and blew a five run lead, or walked six guys in a row, or something else along those lines. I don't remember the exact detail, but I remember it was something fairly egregious; that he had pitched quite badly and that it was obvious.

He was interviewed in the clubhouse after the game and basically said he thought he had pitched just fine and was happy with his performance. Geez, Duaner, way to step up.

It was the first time I'd ever seen Sanchez interviewed, but it left quite an impression. I was very bothered by his casual demeanor and his seeming abdication of all responsibility for his poor workc. I lost a lot of respect for him that day.

With his decidedly subpar pitching in the last quarter or so of the season and, now, this apparently developing pattern of being lazy and disinterested, I think I can say he's more or less dead to me now. I'd be happy if they traded him, for almost anyone.

So, let me see if I have this straight: You're not a big fan of Ryan Church? Is that about it?

I've never seen anyone so singlemindedly obsessed with a single player. Did Church run over your dog or something?
