I have him playing 2B on my Mets MLB ’08 (playstation) roster and he is a complete beast. I was able to trade him for Castillo and Alou mid-season! Sigh… If only life was a video game.

I would not trade Reyes in any deal. I think he is way too valuable a commodity, young, and under a very reasonable contract. I think Wright is more expendable and any package topped by David Wright is more attractive than a package of 3 prospects, fronted by a guy who has really just been OK at the major league level – AND who is actually Wright’s age (older by a month) :-)

Maybe if their intent was to swing Wright for someone else maybe. I don’t think Escobar is anywhere near Wright. It’s about the package. If the Braves sent them 3 holes they currently have that are MLB ready that package would be better than just Wright.

I think we have to agree to disagree. While Escobar seems to have a lot of talent and promise, he is oft injured and hasn’t produced. I like Escobar too, but David Wright is in a complete other world ahead of Escobar.

I think Toronto would seriously consider a trade for David Wright. That would at least get them to the table to discuss Halladay.

But what I am saying is that if they did trade Halladay it would either be A) we are giving up and want to rebuild. Thus they would want 5+ prospects. Or B) We need to fill all our holes. Thus at that would be 2B, SS, DH, and SP depth with Burnett leaving. If they traded Halladay they would need another SP too. It just does not make sense with the Mets. Now a team like the Braves if they traded Escobar, a top pitching prospect and a 2B then it would make sense.

AL has a DH.

They could try to sign O-Dog or Furcal. They have Adam Lind who can play 2B. Furcal would be a nice addition. They’ll also have money to sign a few quality pitchers. I’m just saying, they can lose with Halladay and they can lose without him. Why not try to get a young superstar back for him while he still has value? After this season, his value is peaked.
