After nine games in the Arizona Fall League, here are some notable stats from the 8-1 Peoria Saguaros.
…if you didn’t know, and i didn’t, a saguaro is a type of cactus…
Daniel Murphy is batting .429 which leads all players with atleast 20 at bats. He also has a homer and 6 RBI.
Shawn Bowman comes in right under Murphy with a .400 average but leads the team with two home runs in just 25 at bats.
On the mound, LHP Jason Vargas has pitched 7.2 scoreless innings thus far.
RHP Tobi Stoner has two wins already and has allowed one run and five hits in 5.2 innings.
Righty Eddie Kunz also hasn’t allowed a run in four innings of relief and has notched two saves.

According to a recent survey from Rasmussen Reports, 19 percent of baseball fans believe Johan Santana should win the National League CY Young Award over Brandon Webb, Tim Lincecum and Ryan Dempster.
Additionally, fans believe Indians RHP Cliff Lee should win the AL CY Young Award, Cardinals OF Albert Pujols should win the NL MVP and Red Sox 2B Dustin Pedroia should win the AL MVP.
…even putting my obvious bias aside, santana should win the cy young…webb and lincecum had teriffic seasons, but neither pitched in as big of spots as santana did…other than C.C. Sabathia, santana was the most dominant pitcher during the second half of the season (8-0, 2.17 ERA, 3 CG) for a team that was in a pennant chase…and, if it weren’t for a poorly constructed and under performing bullpen, santana would have been a 20-game winner…

Mets Manager Willie Randolph joining Manny Acta’s coaching staff.
Randolph, as quoted by Sporting News:
“They’ve reached out to say, ‘we’re interested.’ This is just the early stages.”
…two former mets personnel on one bench, is art howe going to be the third base coach too…i wish the best for willie but think he has too much pride to be an understudy, especially manny acta’s…

Among the topics Rubin discusses with Murphy include, staying humble, a heavy offseason workload, and if Murphy would be able to play second base today for the Mets, which Rubin quoted Murphy as saying:
“I would be ready, because that’s where I would be that day.”
…cerrone is right, daniel murphy means business…
Murphy is batting .500 (9-for-18) with 1 2B, 1 HR and 6 RBI, while not committing an error in six games played at second base.
Rubin also chatted with Mets pitching prospect Eddie Kunz, which you can read here.
