Great! I love stability- I can listen to the traditional Sept. choke on the same station as always!

    • Furioso says:

      Post-season games

      BWAH HAW HAW

      • mrose says:

so, its come to this eh? you reply to yourself…
i’m glad you have found yourself a friend :)

        • kingman 26 says:

          LOL!!!!!!

I was suggesting that if everyone ignored Furioso, he would go away, but I guess not!

Furioso, I am still waiting for your replacements for Reyes and the horrible, awful, choking, puppy-strangling, clubhouse cancer, baby seal-eating, future platoon player David Wright…..

        • SovereignRonnie says:

Kingman, let’s be fair. Wright EATS puppies and CHOKES baby seals.

        • kingman 26 says:

You are correct sir……sorry, I did write that in a hurry.

        • rustyjr says:

furioso is a genius of himself :P

        • kingman 26 says:

True, and even if I got the puppies and seals backwards, I am sure Fury-boy will be happy as long as we have D-Rod choking in some context….

        • rustyjr says:

something tells me that furioso thinks Yo Yo Ma is a kids toy :P

        • Furioso says:

True, and even if I got the puppies and seals backwards, I am sure Fury-boy will be happy as long as we have D-Rod choking in some context….

You mean like stranding a runner on 3rd w/ nobody out in a crucial game?

        • rustyjr says:

HEY FURI – WAS THAT U I SAW AT ST ALPHONSO’S HOUSE OF PANCAKES?? WHERE U STOLE THE MARGFARINE !!??? ( thankyou Frank Zappa whereever you are)

        • Furiosos Mom says:

God he’s been all screwed up in the head ever since I dropped him down the stairs..

    • Furiosos Mom says:

I TOLD YOU TO STOP PLAYING ON THE COMPUTER AND FINISH YOUR HOMEWIORK! NOW GET TO IT MISTER!

  2. Peter says:

Cool! I was a little concerned about this.

  3. hot stove chef says:

What’s in it for 92.3? They have about 1/5 of the range?

    • dave27 says:

Less range – but better clarity in the immediate area. Ever drive through Manhattan listening to the FAN? There are stretches of 6th Avenue and areas in the 30s where you may as well be in South Carolina…never mind it can’t penetrate most office buildings.

    • Peter says:

Isn’t it only on the 92.3 HD3 channel? It’s not like they will be kicking the music off for the Mets, it’s an option for them and a selling point an HD subscriber.

  4. the_other_matt says:

Wow…Stern to Sirius really killed 92.3.

  5. Met Hussein Fan says:

Please tell me they are getting rid of Wayne Hagin!!! He is so awful–I literally change the channel during his innings.

    • Chan Ho Parking Lot says:

He is very knowledgeable about the game, but he just lacks that energy and dynamism that keeps the listener interested. When it comes to that aspect, Howie Rose blows him out of the water.

      • Met Hussein Fan says:

He is the most annoying sports announcer I’ve ever listened to. He gets 20 words in after the batter makes contact and I still don’t know if the ball is a hit, an out, a fly ball…. He once said after an out, ” and the Mets collect another one of those precious commodities, which become ever so precious towards the end a ballgame, this commodity also know as an out.”
I almost drove off the road.

        • Xavier22 says:

I actually enjoy his creative verbosity. He was a bit stiff at first, but now I think he and Howie have developed a decent rapport. I hope he sticks around.

        • Met Hussein Fan says:

Am I the only one who finds his voice irritating? Leaving his annoying cutesy shtick aside, which sure is annoying, I just can’t stand the sound of his voice, period! Remember how irritating Tom Seaver’s voice was at the end of his Mets run? Maybe it’s just me!!

        • Slob says:

Yeah. You’re the only one. Compared to Tom McCarthy, Ted Robinson, Fran Healy, etc, Wayne Hagin is a god.

        • rustyjr says:

agreed on the fran healy and ted robinson – even though Mccarthy is a traitor he was the best of the last couple of guys we had may i make a sugesstion? BRING BACK STEVE ZABRISKE OR GARY THORNE !!!!

        • rustyjr says:

actually hussein i still feel that sterling and fran healy are the worst ive heard when i was living in northern n.j in the 80’s i’d get the philthy channel – richie ashburn was one of the best ive ever heard

        • thekid024 says:

I thought McCarthy was pretty good. I hate him because he left the Mets for the Phillies.

        • HOFMets57 says:

          He was always a Phillie…

        • FlightFromHouston says:

          gary thorne? are you crazy.

    • Chiefman says:

When I first heard Hagin I hated his low-key style. Somewhere around mid-season though I thought he began to become more animated and to me he improved measurably. Maybe I’m alone in that view, but that’s how I saw it.

    • The Slider says:

Wayne Hagin makes my ears hurt. Please replace him with a real Met – Red Sox fan, Ed Coleman.

  6. BringBackDaveTelgheder says:

Great news, wouldnt be the same if we left….

  7. Seaver41 says:

Post-season games? Yeah, that’d be nice.

  8. dcmetsfan says:

As an out of market fan, this is great news because the signal reaches pretty clearly down to DC in the evening.

  9. gipper82475 says:

Glad they stayed on the FAN.

    But, Wayne Hagin MUST go.

    • Dr. Alan Lans says:

I felt the same way but started to appreciate his delivery after a while. Why don’t you like him?

      • gipper82475 says:

It;s been covered by others…but his voice is not good for radio…he comes across as a generic baseball radio guy who could just as easily be covering a KC Royals game or a college baseball game. Nothing special. Nothing NY. Poor play-by-play skills and no good knowledge of Mets-specific filler as a color guy. Interrupts the flow of Howie’s excellent play-by-play.

To be fair to him – he is serviceable – an average baseball broadcaster. But, this is NY. And, when we are spoiled by such an excellent TV booth and excellent half of the radio booth in Howie….well, Wayne is left wanting by comparison.

    • atl0nym4 says:

I don’t get the Hagin hateing. I find him knowlegeable and pretty insightful. I don’t find anything annoying about his style.
Most games I have the radio on with the tv sound off because the SNY guys over do it in my opinion.

  10. Metshead1974 says:

Thank goodness. As a transplanted North Jersey native living in deep South Jersey, this is great news.

  11. rustyjr says:

it will be great hearing thw schmooze b4 and after a mets win again!!

  12. rustyjr says:

i got my letter from the mets on sat about my partial plans – i’m saving all my pennies to pay off my balance /with my post season deposit for the playoffs that never came

  13. joe the wanderer says:

glad to hear Mets will remain with the WFAN.

The World Series seriously needs to be done with quickly. MLB and Fox is dragging this out way too long. I want HOT STOVE and FREE AGENCY to begin now.

    • steadyeddie says:

Not to worry Joe; the Rays will win 4 and be done in 2 shakes of a girl horses tail
(which covers Furioso; a girl horses a**

      • rustyjr says:

damn i just stepped in a steamy pile of furioso :(

        • Furioso says:

Here’s another steaming helping for ya…..the Phils are playing in the WS and this is the big news nugget for the day.

          Enjoy it!

        • Sylar says:

My question is….. do you have a life??

Or do you just spend all your time pretending to be a Mets fan, and trolling this blog?

        • rustyjr says:

sylar furioso wishes he was on mr. rogers neigborhood so that he can go to the land of make believe so he could make believe he was relevant

      • Furiosos Mom says:

Oh Lord my son is such an As$ Hat – sigh.

        • kingman 26 says:

Dude, I am seriously jealous that I did not think of this joke first.

But if you are really Furioso’s Mom, can you buy him some baseball books, so he can understand the little game we all seem to enjoy?

Can you tell me what little Furioso’s BA with RISP is in little league?

        • Dr. Alan Lans says:

Lord when he was a boy he couldn’t play organized sports because he always crapped his pants when he ran. poor thing.

        • MetsFan4Decades says:

Brilliant F.’s Mom, just brilliant. Definitely ‘one upped’ him with your creativity on this.
          Laugh of the day.

        • kingman 26 says:

No, I think he obviously always struck out with men on 3rd and no outs in the big game, and he is taking out his frustrations on our D-Rod.

Seriously, I want to know Furioso’s stats with men on base and less than two outs.

        • PhuckDaMuts says:

          BLOG QUESTION …

Who is more Gay? Dr Alan or Rusty Jr?

        • rustyjr says:

this coming from a person who’s team is named after a female horse btw Mr Blackswell says he has an opening if u have a stiff proposition :P

        • Dr. Alan Lans says:

I think Mr. Phuck is confusing homosexuality with intelligence – something he obviously knows nothing about.
Now come over here an give me a big kiss you pathetically stupid hunk of Philly fan….

  14. met123fan says:

I was listening to one of Wayne Hagin’s early broadcasts, he was doing play by play and says, a well-hit ball, and GUESS WHAT…..what do you mean “guess what” you fool. I’m listening to you so you can tell me WHAT. I knew from that day he needed to go.

    • rustyjr says:

yeah he does’t color a mental picture that well

    • The Slider says:

Please send him back to Colorado, or St. Louis, or to whatever small, America-loving, anti-liberal, town he came from. Us anti-Americans living in the big city need a member from the Northeast liberal elite doing our play-by-play.

      Ed Coleman, please!

  15. rustyjr says:

BRING BACK ZABRISKE, THORNE, ALBERT OR SHAMSKY – ALL ARE BETTER THAN THE HAGEN DAS !!!

    • The Slider says:

      Not Steve Zabriskie.

      • rustyjr says:

come on slider he was part of the 80’s glory years

        • The Slider says:

The Joel Youngblood, Doug Flynn years??? Aiye. Funny, though, I do like those players. (lynn was the best fielding 2B the Mets ever had IMO.) The Big Z was a little to stiff and corporate for a “free spirit” like The Glider, oops, I mean The Slider. Thorne was cool though.

        • rustyjr says:

yrah i’m 36 so those were my heyday’s frank taveras at ss ron hodges/ alex trevino and sterns at c and our ace(s) were zacary and swan lol i remember the old timers softball games against the cast of happy days lol

  16. rustyjr says:

btw guys mlb trade rumors said that the cards are going to buyout mark mulders contract . do u think we should give him a invite to s.t?

  17. Dr. Alan Lans says:

    Sure why not.

  18. nymetsjeff says:

Good move to 92.3. I live in W. Essex Co. NJ (about 30 minutes from Shea) and there are sections of town I drive in that are horrid in regards to reception. I have to turn the volume down when I approach certain streets.

Gotta love the fact that the Schmooze is not in jeopardy of leaving me, or at least this is what I perceive.

Please turn Howie Rose into play by play and color commentary. There is no need for two broadcasters when 1 is so good at what they do. I’m a big fan of Howie and have been saying this for years.
