As for Wright, I wouldn’t say any of those guys you mentioned are “well better” except for Rolen, but he’s getting older and has had problems staying healthy these past few yrs. As for the GG, Zimmerman and Feliz both started just a shade over 100 gms, Wright played about 500 more innings than either of those guys. When you don’t play enough, you shouldn’t be getting awards IMO.

And Johan made one error this y, so I don’t know how that = “way way way too many errors”

Thank you, and as I and many others have pointed out, Wright’s career numbers with RISP and in EVERY “clutch” situation are excellent. He had a bit of a down year in 2008 in these areas (but not at all overall, as hj’s stats above clearly show), but all indications are that Wright will be back to hitting over .300 in every “clutch” stat next year, as he did every year of his career previously.

And while he may not be Brooks Robinson or Mike Schmidt (yet) he is FAR from an average fielder, and in the media age we live in, of course a player in NY, who makes more than his share of highlight reel plays in the field (and is not a criminal, woman-beater, drunk/druggie, thief, fan/media avoider, overly greedy Boras-type) is going to get more than his share of accolades and awards.

Also, I think Chiper’s pot shots at Wright have to do with a little jealousy. Because Wright gets so much attention in NY.

by the way he is a whole lot better than “above average”…. i guess everyone can have their opinions and i agree that if what we look at playoff and championships as the top barometer of a players success than yes he has done little only making the playoffs once in 4 full seasons…now the non clutch thing…please i need to see him bat 245 a couple of more years to say that he cant do this in the “clutch’ (ya i said it and go look at what he has done)…finally now i know we all want the guy who going to hit 50hrs adn drive in 160 runs while batting 385…well Babe Ruth is dead adn bonds got caught…so instead of constently put this guy down with obsurd statements and dumb comments like “chipper mocked him” …SO WHAT…who the hell cares what chipper thinks….what i know is he just batted
