Yea, he often jogs down the 1st base line, but I consider that frustration, not laziness. Unfortunately many fine baseball players don't run out routine ground balls. However, the thought that he 'takes time off' is well grounded in fact during his stay in Boston. In '01 he left the ballpark before batting practice for 'personal reasons,' missing a Fenway Park celebration of Cal Ripken's career with Baltimore in town. In '04 he missed several games with an illness that did not keep him from meeting an old friend and former teammate in a hotel bar, it just kept him from playing. He has refused to enter a game as a pinch hitter. He has left the country, missing several games mid season due to family member illness which was later reported as a stomach ache.
