Milton Bradley’s image and the value placed on image by the Wilpons preclude him from being signed by the Mets.

Well, his OPS is consistently in the high .800s, yeah. That's a solid producer for a no glove no run DH type, but that's not eye-popping. The league is always filled with Matt Stairs, Jack Cust type guys who would probably hit .250 with 30 homers and a bunch of walks if you gave them a starting job - you sign a Burrell because you want a 100% chance of that production.

I wouldn't mind if the Mets paid that money - money is something we have, and as a franchise we're just not good at dealing with risk. And Beltran can make up for some of Pat's terrible range, I guess. But most teams outside of the New Yorks and Bostons won't pay big money for that when they can just gamble on a Matt Stairs.

i'm not saying I want Burrell on my team, but someone refusing to shake his hand simply because he said he wouldn't mind playing at Citifiield? He was probably just being nice and cordial, and that's a bad thing now? Two things are evident here, people take sports way too seriously, AND, people take themselves way too seriously.

Me too. I wouldn't mind seeing Burrell in LF at CitiField next year. What's the big deal? It's not like he's John Rocker.
