The team needs to get younger, and Easley's age counts against him, as do his multiplying injuries. I like him, always have, but I wouldn't sign him again. As for Perez, I hear what people are saying about the money, but unless I'm mistaken, he's only 26, which means that even after a long-term contract, he'd still not be too old to pitch. That alone separates him from other free-agent starters. I wouldn't be surprised if Atlanta or Philadelphia went after him, and though that's not a good enough reason to have him back, think about how well he's pitched against those two clubs.

As for Endy, his outfield defense notwithstanding, I'd trade him if he brought good value. I love him, but he slugged .only 330 this year, and the career number is .369. At what point is a singles hitter who can't hit lefties the best fifth outfielder on the roster?

Yeah. We might get two picks, actually, unless the rules have changed in a way I'm not aware of. According to what I've read, Ollie will qualify as a "Type A" FA pursuant to the Elias ranking algorithm. That would ordinarily mean that we'd get the signing team's #1 as well as a sandwich pick, no?

By the same token, Derek Lowe is also listed as a "Type A" FA, so if we were to sign him either before the arbitration offer deadline or after the Dodgers offered him arbitration, we'd lose a #1 as well.

Trading Endy is not a bad idea, however, who do you replace him with? The bench will need a guy like Endy who has speed and plays great defense. Sorry to say but Pagan and Tatis don't match up to endy for defense or speed.

Just make sure they offer arbitration so they get a draft pick back when he signs with someone else.

I dunno -- I really thought that even tho at the trade deadline it was a seller's market and Omar did not want to overpay for a trade, I thought at the time he should have traded for an arm just for the sake of showing that he made an effort to change the direction the bullpen was headed (not to mention Wagner went down a week before, but I digress)... sometimes change helps. I think moving to a new stadium will improve their play, yet the mound is still 60 feet 6 inches from home plate.
