Umm..no where did it say Omar was going to sign him. He is looking at him. He looks at EVERY player. With that said, No to Ibanez!

Now this whole Manny thing..Manny = Winners. Period. No arguing. Secondly, you sign Manny, trade Delgado, give murphy 1B, use the cash from Delgado trade, and about 10 million left after signing Manny and go get yourself 3 relivers. Then give someone else the closers role (ie Maine). Krod is not worth it.

Just remember....had we traded for Manny, we would have been in the world series regardless of the bullpen.

i think i read that the mets have $30 million to spend...so by getting manny we would have the same met team (barring trades) with manny. Last i checked manny cant get people out after the 7th inning, which is what the mets main focus should be on. They were criticized for nearly 2 months about how horrendous the bullpen was, im pretty sure Minaya would rather shore up that problem before going after a potential clubhouse cancer in manny

As long as the mets get a reliever that doesnt blow 7 santana wins ill be happy.

Does anyone else think wagner should give santana his owed salary for winning the cy young? Considering its probably going to be wagners fault that santana doesnt win the cy young this year

Even if it's a one-year-deal, the damage will have been done. The Mets would have forfeited a high draft pick for a below-average left fielder.

I can't wait for the headline; Mets do something really, really stupid!!

Ibanez would then cost the Mets their second round pick in that case.

The problem isn't that Omar emphasizes defense, it's that he claims that some acquisitions are good defensive players when they are not (Castillo, Schneider).
