FRED WILPON WHO NOT ONLY WANTS TO WIN BUT IS PUTTING HIS MONEY WHERE HIS MOUTH IS AND WE HAVE AN ASTUTE GM IN OMAR MINAYA WHO HAS BROUGHT US THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE ALLOWED US TO COMPETE SINCE 06 AND WHO IS CONTINUING TO PLACE US IN THE HUNT.

Umm have you looked at his stats from last year? He had a 1.45 WHIP and a .266 BAA. That’s kind of terrible. Not to mention a high walk rate and a very low k rate. Exactly what stats are you looking at that’s making him look like a solid reliever?

Now I think I understand. Beane is lying in wait to swindle us at the July 31st trade deadline in a deal for Holliday. He’ll ask for some combination of Niese, Parnell and Heilman or maybe on of them and F-Mart. And we’ll probably do it if we just wading in water.

So Beane basically turned Haren’s two years plus an option and Street’s 1 year + arbitration into one year of Matt Holiday (who can be retained, traded or lost with 2 first round draft picks as compensation), plus good young guys they control for 5-6 years: a top lefty pitching prospect (Brett Anderson), an organizational player of the year (Chris Carter), plus Dana Eveland (another lefty who gave them 168 innings and 9 wins last year) and Aaron Cunningham… he does such a good job at balancing the organization’s short and long term needs and managing its salary constraints…
