If you could get Dye for Evans and Neise you have to pull the trigger. This is a right handed vet with pop and leadership to bat in between the Carlos'. Its a good fit and your only taking him on for a year. It seems like a no brainer to me. I would add Heilman to the deal if I had to.

Im not sure Vasquez is a good fit with the Mets. He is being tossed out of town and he was already run out of NY once. Id take the $ and get a starter from FA. Id also look into making a move on 1 or 2 of the jap players for the pen.

Jermaine Dye would do wonders for this team. He'd be the perfect #5 hitter and would allow Murphy to move to 2nd base then if you don't want him next year you buy him out and either bring up F-Mart or use Evans.

I have read in one of the Chicago news papers that they want to keep Contreras and at the very least have him close if they get the right package for Jenks, or have him set up in the bull pen. I am not sure if they have entertained theidea of trading him.

yea im not sure it would help him develop by only facing RH pitching. he will become one of those lefties who is completely lost late in game when a loogy comes in. ive been crossing my fingers since october that this kid will pick up 2B and be sufficient enough to play the position everyday.

It leaves us with 4 RHP and 1 LHP though. Not very good for balancing purposes. If you then trade Vasquez or Contreras and sign Wolf or CC or another LHP, it sounds fine, but you can't let it stand as is, or the teams built to kill RHP's will kill us.

Also I know a lot of people have no interest in projections but Swisher is projected to have a much better year offensively than Dye next year.
