If you live and die with the Mets, especially the latter, you can have a coffin custom-made for yourself or a loved one at the Branch Funeral Home in Smithtown.
…truly disturbing…
Braves fans at The Launching Pad are getting antsy about the whole Jake Peavy situation, saying, “If something doesn’t happen soon, I’m gonna just lose it. I’m sick of the perpetual state of limbo this trade has remained in and I’d like something else to blog about other than Peavy but there’s not much else happening.”
The city council is voting on the development of Willets Point this afternoon.
…Update…4:45 pm…
According to NY1, the plan was approved by a vote of 42-2 meaning that the city will develop it into a 62-acre hub with housing, shops, a school, and convention center.
Looking for a job? The Mets Police forwarded a job description from the Mets for a Pitch f/x Operator.
…with the economy being the way it is, i might be applying for that pretty soon…
Lastly, Tom Seaver did a Q&A with the Daily Pilot and had this to say about the Mets’ failure to make the playoffs last year:
“It’s been tough for them. People don’t understand, it’s not easy. Just because you paid a whole bunch of people a lot of money, it doesn’t mean that you’re going to have them gel and come together and have them win. There’s more to it.”
…hat tip to jeannie w. for the link…say hi to sasha for me…

How long did the Santana talks go on…
The Brave’s fans can start talking when they wait THAT long.
The Santana speculation started around the initial GM meetings in November. Carried on through all of December and didn’t go down until January 29. The trade was made official on February 1.
Basically, 3 months. Most of December post-meetings was nothing.
The Peavy thing has gone on for 3 weeks. I guess when your season ended in June it feels longer.
Good-bye chop shops!
Damn, i’m going to miss it. Anyone know of another place in NYC where chickens roam the streets freely?
The player parking lot at Shea?
The parking lot at Shea will still be a parking lot (as will where Shea stood). They’re probably going to demolish whatever is in The Iron Triangle.
