To check out the latest photos of Citi Field, taken by Tom Kaminski in Chopper 880, click here.

Also, a reader of MetsBlog sent in the following image of the infield being put in, which is pretty exciting:

Citi Field looks like it is going to be incredible!!!! How long until opening day?

darknova November 14, 2008 at 11:26 am

It does look great. It’s still going to take a lot of getting used to when I watch a game with the Mets in their home whites playing without the blue padded walls in the background from Shea. Going to be an interesting adjustment.

Ceetar November 14, 2008 at 1:19 pm

It’ll be weird. I give it until the 3rd inning of opening day.

Cactus November 14, 2008 at 2:45 pm

yes, it will be incredibly expensive

KingWright November 14, 2008 at 11:29 am

Awesome.

Lidge=Mitch Williams November 14, 2008 at 11:30 am

Off topic, but welcome back, “A Grand Central Station for Mets Information”! It sure beats the Geico graphics. No offense Matt.

ravi3 November 14, 2008 at 11:34 am

Speaking of which, when will the banner be changed to reflect CitiField? Or are you staying with the Shea background for nostalgia?

BiffBenson November 14, 2008 at 12:14 pm

Matt, you gotta keep Shea!

casey s. November 15, 2008 at 7:30 am

I imagine when the grapefruit league begins, Matt will do his usual graphics change to something spring training-ish. Then, opening day, something representing CitiField.

Ceetar November 14, 2008 at 1:20 pm

I figure, wait until there is a nice shot of Citi with the fans in it.

gipper82475 November 14, 2008 at 1:51 pm

Seriously, the problem with that shea shot is that there is nobody in the seats!

redmarauder07 November 14, 2008 at 3:42 pm

What happened to the Geico graphic…did you lose the sponsorship?

The site looks much better this way anyway.

Have any of your partial season ticket holders heard from the Mets sales office yet? I thought they were going to start contacting us in November.

METSCITI November 14, 2008 at 12:03 pm

Have not been contacted yet. I called them yesterday and they said “be patient, we’re working on it”
I expect we’ll probably know what they want to do right after deposits are due for season tickets, so we’ll probably get info around Dec 1 – Dec 8

The guy on the phone said that they are planning on keeping in mind the fact that most people who have had Sunday plans for exmaple in that past would prefer to have mostly Sunday games next year, but he could not promise me that would be the setup

METSCITI November 14, 2008 at 12:25 pm

They also told me that there will be tiered pricing next year once again. Platinum – gold- silver -bronze- value

Xavier22 November 14, 2008 at 12:26 pm

Thanks for the info. I’ve been out of town and was nervous they’d try and contact me while I was away.

Cactus November 14, 2008 at 2:47 pm

there are no tiered pricing for season seats. they are a flat fee for every game. for example a $75 mid section 2nd deck seat in the outfield is $6075 a year.

whynot1 November 14, 2008 at 11:31 am

I hope they’re happy making a few extra bucks at the expense of no foul ground in the outfield.

jamie November 14, 2008 at 11:41 am

isn’t the field the exact same dimensions as at Shea?

ravi3 November 14, 2008 at 11:53 am

nope..its actually a bit asymmetrical

ravi3 November 14, 2008 at 11:53 am

That means better seats for us.

mbeli November 14, 2008 at 11:35 am

calm down with the extra bucks comment just be happy that we have a new stadium… but i guess there always has to be some negative comments towards the mets

gottabelieve07 November 14, 2008 at 11:49 am

There are people in this world who would complain if you handed them a million dollars. They’d find a way to bitch about the taxes they’d have to pay on the money you just game them.

mr.gee21 November 14, 2008 at 1:03 pm

One million dollars? I can’t survive on one million dollars! What are you trying to do, kill me?!

Cactus November 14, 2008 at 2:48 pm

or the taxes you have to pay to build a corporate baseball stadium

Agees Catch November 14, 2008 at 11:48 am

I think you underestimate Heilman’s value as much as I underestimate Vasquez. 2005-2007, Heilman was very good, with no more than a 3.6 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP.

Agees Catch November 14, 2008 at 11:53 am

wrong post. sorry

TheBigStapler November 14, 2008 at 11:53 am

It looks like they were doing backhoe doughnuts in the outfield. What on earth is going on in there?

TheBigStapler November 14, 2008 at 11:56 am

At Shea in the link, I mean.

JohnnyG November 14, 2008 at 11:59 am

Great pics.

Doesn’t it seem like a questionable time of year to be installing sod? Seems like they missed the optimal timeframe by a couple months.

Although, I guess it wouldn’t have time to take if they waited until spring.

gipper82475 November 14, 2008 at 1:55 pm

I agree…one hopes they know what they are doing. Dd I see those 880 WCBS chopper shots right? It looks like the new Skankee stadium has sod and the pitching rubber and plate, while they are still installing seats. CitiField, it seems, did it backwards (seats all in, sod laid in November.)

dominicanboy08 November 14, 2008 at 12:06 pm

man, when I think about next season, I think the mets will still be playing at shea. it will take some time before we call citifield home. my last game at shea was on the sunday night game whe johan b3at the phillies. one of my best memories at shea, the intensity, the fights between phillies and mets fans and the pleasure of saying “lets go mets” in front of all the phillies fans as we exit the stadium.

BiffBenson November 14, 2008 at 12:21 pm

yeah that game is the closest i’ll ever get to a playoff game at Shea

danthemanmurphy November 14, 2008 at 8:30 pm

that was my last game at shea too.. and it was incredible.

chaseh November 14, 2008 at 12:18 pm

I can’t see how the third and first base lines stay out of the stands before reaching the foul poles.

gipper82475 November 14, 2008 at 1:52 pm

Check the animation on mets.com…..the lines are *very* close to the stands, but, um, not in the stands.

crazywater November 14, 2008 at 2:06 pm

I was thinking the exact same thing…the first/third base lines look like they will go right into the stands…

gomets6091 November 14, 2008 at 3:18 pm

that gray area isn’t seats, it’s where the warning track dirt is gonna go. It goes around the whole stadium. It looks like there’ll maybe be 3-5 feet of dirt in between the line and the stands…not much foul ground. I have a bad feeling this park isn’t gonna be half the pitchers park we’re all expecting.

bkfitz November 14, 2008 at 1:02 pm

Are those seats blue? I would be very happy if they scrapped those stupid green seats.

gipper82475 November 14, 2008 at 1:51 pm

They are green…but a shade that looks sorta blue from a distance. You can see better detail pics on mets.com

Cactus November 14, 2008 at 3:59 pm

I hope they put in thicker turf on the right side of the infield so Castillo and Delgado can get to more grounders.
