The idea of the winter is to get better. Keep playing. If you’re healthy. Shutting him down is the smart thing here. They probably should have done it earlier. They’ve seen enough of him at 2B to get an idea of where he’ll be. And I’m sure they’re still undecided and it’s contigent upon other transactions, but it doesn’t look likely.

There was only a slim chance of Murphy ever opening the season as our 2B and the injury has reduced that to none. Met fans need to get over the idea of Murph at 2B. It ain’t happening.

I sense a little sarcasm here.

Though i know what your getting at wouldn’t you have rather still had Heath bell, Lindstrom, Bannister, Henry Owens, then what we got for them.

A DD who killed a lady, Ben Johnson who isn’t with the team, Adam Bostick who never made it out of AAA. If Claudio Vargas turns out to be decent it’s all worth it though.

This effectively ends any chance of Murphy starting at 2nd for us next season. You don’t just start playing a position in the majors. He really needed a full off-season of work at the position.

So, absent some other kind of upgrade, get ready for Luis Castillo in the 8 hole next year. Money is better spent upgrading pitching!

well, a-ssuming he did, do you think he would? i mean, he let jesus flores get away. he also traded brian banister the savior, heath bell, matt lindstrom the best reliever on odd numbered days with the most saves on even numbered days, and henry owens. those guys were great with the mets. just wondering.
