It is good to see they’re thinking out of the box. Furcal and Hudson are the same age. Furcal has played 2B in the past. The key incentive to signing him is that he’s unranked. It’ll be hard imaging the Mets match the A’s offer though. Maybe Furcal’s willing to play in New York for a little less though. I don’t think Furcal wants to move positions. And Castillo’s not out of town yet. Maybe the interest in him is a sign that a trade to get Castillo out of here is going to happen though.

I don’t get some of the negativity here.

a) as for the difference between O Hudson and Furcal, why isn’t anyone noticing that Furcal won’t cost any draft picks?
Hudson is Type A. do we want to waste a type A on a 2b?

b) if Wilpon is willing to eat the Castillo contract, why would we care? I don’t get those here that say “I’d only want Furcal if we can trade Castillo”.

I don’t think Furcal will sign with Mets, but I’m glad they are “thinking outside the box” and trying to something to improve a problem.

I read in an Uzbekistani newspaper CC Sabathia loves the Mets and wants to sign an incentive based contract this year so he can prove to everyone that he is worth the money.

Now lets debate for the next 4 hours if this is a smart move for the Mets……….

Smart move I think. This drives down the cost for O-Dog, by showing interest in Furcal O-Dog might bring his price down.
