i would rather have a question mark at the #5 SP than the #2 or #3. plus niese wouldnt be the #5 anyway unless he dominates at spring training. it would most likely be Pedro which for entertainment purposes i wouldnt mind

Johan, Lowe, Pelfrey, Maine, Pedro/Niese/FA is so much better than Johan, Pelfrey, Vasquez, Maine, Garland/Marquis/FA

Problem is that if you over pay for Lowe then you can't afford another starter. Thus you have a question mark in Maine and a question mark in Niese.
If you get Vasquez and another #3-5 guy then you don't have those question marks.
Sorry but as I said
Johan, Lowe, Pelfrey, Maine, Niese
is not as good as
Johan, Pelfery, Vasquez, Maine, other #5.

Would everyone prefer we go back to losing the division in June? not contending and spending 100 mil and still be a laughing stock......

I would not touch Hudson for anything more than 4/32 at the most. Why try and fix the Castillo mistake with a larger one?
Maybe eating a little of the Castillo deal would lessen the prospects. Something like 6.5 million. That means that the Mets would basically be getting Vazquez for market value for 2 years. Not bad at all.

Hey what's wrong with the Pirates signing those two Indian guys. It doesn't hurt to give them a shot.

I wish you were signing my paychecks!

I would love to see Castillo go, but want no part of Hudson on a big money long term deal.

Ah yes, the old "who needs talent when I have heart and grit" argument...

Let's sign Eckstein to play 2nd. Who cares that he's 34 and OPSed around .700 last season...he's a grinder and has heart and KNOWS how to win. He doesn't need the talent to win because he already knows how to.

...man I miss FJM...

Supply and demand baby. If no one is buying the tickets the scalpers sold then they will lower their price. What good is a ticket to them after the game?

I noticed alot of people talking about Vasquez. What do you guys realistically think it would take to get him? I think trading Castillo and eating the third year of hisdeal, plus Evans might do it.

That would open the door to sign Hudson. I'd probably be willing to give him 4 years 44 million.

I'd also sign k-Rod to a 4 year 48 million deal.

I'd trade Heilman and Parnell for Andy Sonnanstine

And sign Juan Cruz to a 3 year 12 million deal.

For people trying to keep track, thats about 30 million in additional salary. And I know we'd be signing some type A free agents, thats why i'd offer Oliver perez arbitration.
