Outfield: Mets and Phillies on Dye’s No-Trade List
By Matthew Cerrone - Nov 26, 2008 11:04 am

The Mets and Phillies are among the six teams on the no-trade list, reports MLB.com, according to Dye’s agent.

…as i wrote yesterday, dye was willing to approve a deal to the Red Sox once before, so i do not take this to mean he’s anti-northeast, so much as he just wants a say regarding his destination

Meanwhile, according to 1530 Radio in Cincinnati, the Reds offered RHP Homer Bailey and a second player for Dye.

Yesterday, on FoxSports.com, Ken Rosenthal reported the White Sox are asking teams for a young starting pitcher plus additional players in a deal for Dye.

However, he added, “The Mets, Rays and Phillies are among the teams balking at such a price.”

A young starting pitcher and a few other prospects is too much for an older Dye. Maybe an AL team would make that trade.

  2. Tidewater says:

You put rich teams on your no-trade, knowing that poorer teams can’t afford you, so you have a ton of power in where you get to go.

  3. The Reds are crazy to offer Homer Bailey for Dye. Bailey is on his way up (way up) and Dye is nearing his decline. Retarded.

  4. ksuth says:

Dye is on the last leg of his career which is what confuses me about all these people wanting to trade for him…

  5. Razor Shines says:

    Move on.

OMG… i am soo debastated!!! oh.. wait.. didn’t glavine said.. never mind.. NEXT!!!

  7. oc410 says:

I’d do Eddie Kunz and Mike Carp for Dye. He’s very good and just what we need. At the same time, hes old and on the decline. and if there asking for homer bailey type players, hell no.

  8. BiggieSmalls says:

    just focus on El Caballo..

  9. JNGordon says:

Makes no sense unless you have already traded Castillo. That is why it is spurious.

  10. RodKanehl says:

If Met fans are lucky Dye will veto a trade to Queens. When is Minaya goinf to get the message that old players deterioate, not improce?

  11. bucknersankles says:

UPON HEARING OF JERMAINE DYE’S VETO TO NY MAKES ME QUESTION WHEATHER HE EVEN HAS THE INTESTINAL FORTITUDE TO PLAY HERE.
I FOR ONE AM NOT ON THE DYE BAND WAGON,THAT SENTIMENT IS HELD FOR ONE, MANNY RAMIREZ ( I KNOW IT’S A LONG SHOT ) HE IS THE ONE MAN THAT SEPERATES THE NY MET’S FROM EVERY OTHER TEAM IN BASEBALL,(AFTER WE GET OUR PITCHING HOUSE IN ORDER ) WITH MANRAM WE GO DEEP INTO OCT FOR THE NEXT 3 TO 4 YRS HANDS DOWN.
THAT FACT ALONE WILL MAKE HIM MORE THAN WORTH THE SIGNING.

  12. It’s ok Dye we don’t want you anyway! *pouts*

  13. oleosmirf says:

if the reds couldnt get him for Homer Bailey and then some then it makes no sense for us to even try

  14. dominicanboy08 says:

    where did you read that?

  15. oc410 says:

    no source?

  16. SimulatedGameMVP says:

    “Spurious” means baseless

  17. BiggieSmalls says:

    sounds like a spurious rumor.

I think the O’s are lining up their ducks for a run at Tex. which could mean they are dumping some salary but would not want Delgado — He is going to the Angels when they lose TEx.

  18. oc410 says:

Haha. I didn’t look at the name. That trade would actually make a lot of sense for both teams. Not sure if id do it though.
