Read: Manuel is Thankful
By Regis Courtemanche - Nov 26, 2008 2:40 pm

Marty Noble at MLB.com writes about what Mets skipper Jerry Manuel plans to do this Thanksgiving:

“On the night before the family gathers for Thanksgiving, Manuel is content. He knows that most of his family will surround him. A baseball season of challenge, something he relishes, awaits him, as do additional experiences in the role of grandfather… And to his delight, there are more experiences for him as a son, as his mother is to share Thanksgiving dinner with the family.”

…not to take away from the tone of this article, but i’ll be thankful when this ‘hot stove season’ finally gets underway because all these rumors are wearing on me…

I’m sure Jerry Manuel will also be thankful to get a few arms that can get outs that he can use for an inning or more without always having to worry about who to use batter to batter.

welcome to the Mets, my friend. we’re going to see the same thing next season until the 9th inning if we can get K-Rod already.

  2. bigvito22 says:

I’ll be thankful once I turn on the TV and see baseball being played in Florida. Right now, the Giants occupy my Sundays but the rest of the week I am bored to tears.

  3. FlightFromHouston says:

I’d be thankful two if i was part of running the two biggest choke jobs in franchise history and got rewarded with a shiny new contract.

Our CDs were on a small label called Your Name Here Records, owned by a friend of the singer/songwriter who made zillions by being an early Microsoft employee…we were almost on SubPop, as they loved Dave, but he had to do everything his way, and the SubPop guys were very flaky about paying anyone back then; but they did do a great job of promoting the early Seattle scene…we did a few singles on Tombstone, a label owned by a very cool band from Olympia called Dead Moon, and another I think on C/Z, which was the 2nd biggest Seattle indy after SubPop back then. We also played two Hempfests, huge outdoor Seattle shows which drew like 30,000 people in the mid-90s and were covered by Spin and Rolling Stone.

I think I have heard of Shango….And I myself am a retired bas*ist!! Running a jazz biz with my brother in upstate NY. But I still listen to Nirvana and Alice in Chains and the Screaming Trees all the time along with jazz and Jay-Z and Sinatra…..

Have a great one tomorrow Rusty…..

        • rustyjr says:

    • mouserdz says:

The plans are only available “selected account holders” so does that mean current package holders? Was there a raffle I missed?

    • PeterDragon says:

I actually posted about it in this thread, and for some reason the post never appeared.

I’m happy I will have an opportunity, but annoyed at how they are doing it. Ive had Sunday package for about 12 yrs and now the “Sunday Plan” only has 10 of the 13 Sunday games, and includes 5 weekday games.

    Ive been wondering,
can anybody inform me when Mets Hot Stove is on SnY like time/day of week.?

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

Thursdays at 7pm – although I don’t think it’s on tomorrow b/c of the holiday.

      Happy Thanksgiving all.

It’s just too damn long until Spring Training games start…..

      • kingman 26 says:

Hey, it can only be about 3 months now until Johan takes the mound for the first spring training game on SNY, which KRod (or my sentimental choice JJ Putz in a trade if we don’t sign KRod) will hopefully save!

Have a great Thanksgiving 4 Decades!

  9. Gland says:

did u check the SNY website?

  10. metsflip says:

Hey guys i know its a lil random but something amazing happened to me..
    I MET DANIEL MURPHY!!
    not lyin..
I was at my baseball/workout place (in Jacksonville FL) and he came in and talked to some of the coaches and said hi to me and talked to me. He talked to my dad first in the other room so he said
“I’m sorry about the end of last year, it’s gonna be good next year.”
It was awesome, i was completely star struck

  11. kingman 26 says:

Murph was the keyboard player in the Blues Brothers, who was leading a band called Murph and the Magic Tones with Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper, the bas*ist and guitarist, at the cheesy motel lounge when Belushi and Aykroyd went to get them to put the band back together….Rusty started calling Daniel Murphy Murph and the Magic Tones, and I have been right there supporting him!

I think we both want to see Murph playing every day in LF or at 2B, with or without the Magic Tones!

    • Gland says:

i wish i liked that movie more. i think that’s one of those ‘love ‘em or hate ‘em’ ones.

      either way, murphy still rocks

    • MetsFan4Decades says:

These guys who might not know who Murph, Magic Tones and the Blues Bros are, are making me feel very old – LOL……

Been reading every word you all are posting about the Hot Stove rumors and trades ya all think we should/should not make. Don’t often comment b/c many of you are so much more on top of players stats around the league than I am. But I come here first for the latest word as no one posts the rumors faster and many of you actually make more sense than some of the media/rnalaysts stories I’ve been reading.

I’m in Mets baseball withdrawal right now. Waiting anxiously for the first FA acquire or trade. My money is on K-rod….

      • rustyjr says:

yeah im 36 and i remember seeing that movie when i was 8 lol i wondered “what the frick is a penguin” lol

  12. rustyjr says:
