i would never want ryan howard.and i think many would agree with me. He does not get on base like Adam Dunn,He strikes out more then anybody in baseball ,(he holds the record)Yea he is clutch ,but wack.

I think the mets have to avoid guys like wood and wolf. Both are talented guys but they are both injury prone. After what we just went through with pedro and Wagner I would stay as far away as I could from those guys.

I still do not understand the whole value of picks. Yes the mets have a shoddy farm system. Yes there is a youth movement in baseball. Yes there have been some recent young players make an impact right away - but seriously how many of those picks actually make it to the bigs.

For draft picks to mean anything at all the mets need to start forgetting about the slotting system. They need to start drafting some high cieling players.

Who is the last draft pick that the mets had that did anything? Wright and Reyes? How long ago was that? 8+ years?

Think of all the hot prospects mets fans have been excited about? What happened to Milledge? What happened to 'instert failed prospect here'

Yes we can trade them for aging superstars - but I would rather find the right value free agents regardless of draft picks.

No just pondering.
If they sign Krod for reasonable demands then I am all for it. But this Wood thing does give us options if we get left out to dry some how with Krod.

I too now am very intrigued by Wood and Dunn as they would not cost us picks. If we could bring in Wood, Dunn, Wolf, Guardado and trade for Vasquez to replace Perez and gain 2 picks from all of it that would be great.

Sign Dunn 3/33. See if he will take 10 million the first year sobyou have an extra million or 2 to play with. Trade church and a prospect to Tampa for Jackson or sonnanstine. Trade hielman, show and cash for street. Sign krod and use the left over money for a starter. Maybe a guy like johnson or penny. I'm even open to bringing pedro back as a fifth starter for the right price. I like the trade a guy from the post made up. He had show and marlon Anderson to the cubs for marquis. He's not the greatest in the world but he's a new York guy in a contract year as your 5th starter only making 5 million on the year. Santana, Maine, pelf, sonnanstine and marquis. That's not a bad rotation. Then you have a few million left over to sign a guy like juan Rivera. You keep delgado one more year then you switch dunn to first in 2010 and make a push for holiday for left field.

Umm, what I still don't get is how a LOOGY matters when your lineup is
S, L, R, L, S, L, L/R, S.
Loogy comes in to face Beltran? NO. Dunn most likely but he still gets on base. Then you sub for Schnieder if need be.

grab wolf. just costing $$, and he would be very useful.

I do like Wood too. Just make sure to have 1-2 other power arms goomed to be a closer in waiting (cruz, even parnell, since I think that is his future).

teach parnell that 2nd out pitch that the best closers have (slider, splitter, soemthing) and let him rip!
