The Mets announced Nick Evans has a mild, right quadriceps strain.
He will undergo three to four weeks of physical therapy in his hometown of Phoenix, AZ.
…Update…11:03 pm…
Initially, the team announced Evans had an MRI.
However, they later made a correction stating that he did not have an MRI.

welcome to alouville nicky alou who
btw did we offer arbitration to ollie?? havent read it anywhere
Haven’t heard about Ollie, but if anyone cares Kerry Wood did NOT get offered arbitration by the Cubs, so no draft pick loss there (just be sure to leave plenty of room on the DL).
I would love to sign Kerry Wood and trade for JJ Putz.
We can let Wood hold on to the job until he goes on the DL. We’ll have Putz in the wings for backup.
I’m a big fan of a healthy JJ, but last year’s health issues give me a little trepidation. Also, I have no idea what Seatlle might want for him. I guess the good news is they need pretty much everything except a RF, a #1 starter, and a closer (until they trade JJ).
They offered Ollie arbitration
It’s an omen. He’s now truly a met.
You can scratch him out of future fantasy trade proposals.
SHould have dealt him before he became an injury prone player…too late
So true.
how did he hurt his knee?
Look, right off the bat, I’ll admit that I know nothing about this stuff, but it seems to me that there are so many Mets over the years getting injured with hammy’s, quad injuries, etc. I have a question:
Are there more Mets being hurt in this way or does it just seem that way to me, since I follow the Mets?
It just always seems like the Mets’ training regimen and rehab and medical evaluations and procedures are not up to snuff. Of our outfielders, F-Mart (had some injury issues the last couple of years), Church (I shouldn’t even go there), Alou (a senior citizen and already had the rep before he got here, so it was just a poor signing), Beltran (plays through his pain), Chavez (spent time on the DL this year), and the two new kids who played in the ML this season Murphy and Evans, who both went down in the offseason within a couple of weeks of each other. It was almost as if one got hurt trick-or-treating and the other grabbing a turkey drumstick. WTF!!!
hey cver! how’ve you been?
this is the same question i asked last year. it seems to me that if i were a baseball player who wanted to achieve success, i would follow whatever regimen was given to me by the trainers for the club i played for. after all of our injuries last year, i sat and wondered what else do these players have to do other than keep in good shape and take care of their bodies? yes, i know they have lives, but for heaven’s sake, their bodies are their business, so why wouldn’t they take care of them? it seems to me that the trainers for the mets could be doing a better job. i can’t believe that SO many players get injured because they aren’t following their regimens. it’s easier to believe that the regimens are no good and should be rethought.
Hi Scotty – good to hear from you! Things are good here in the bunker. Soon the hot stove will be warming our hearts, I hope.
for those who wanted a reunion, angels offered arb to darrin oliver
and are probably hoping he refuses it! Still don’t know how he became a type A.
No lose situation for them. He resigns or they get 2 picks for him.
No no no to Abreu. hate him as a player, and way too old.
besides, he doesn’t hit many HRs now either, and D is nothing to write home about. Probably will get just as much overall from Murphy/Tatis platoon, and save 12million or so a year!
and that, of course, can go right into the “save for Teix” piggy bank!
You can’t get a 125 OPS+ from that platoon. HR’s does not a great hitter make. He gets 20 HR, 40 2B, and 20 SB. If it came down to trading prospects for Dye or signing Abreu I will take Abreu. Now IF< BIG IF, I could get Tex because I did not sign Abreu, then sure. That’s most likely never going to happen.
I agree with stickguy on one key point, I hate Abreu. I won’t bore you with an explanation, I’ve just never liked the guy and when he was a Phillie I enjoyed yelling nasty things at him more than almost anyone else. His fear of all things outfield wall also makes me shiver, but as trs86 notes the dude has a nice power/speed blend and just gets on base. In the free agent era I root quite a bit for laundry anyway. If he could be signed short term, I could deal with it. Where would he bat? 2nd?
I don’t really care for him either. It’s just the lesser of the evils to me. I would rather have him than Ibanez, Manny or Dye considering the other impacts.
And affraid of the wall or not, at least he can get to the wall which is more to say than many of our other LF options.
Reyes, Abreu, Wright, Delgado, Beltran, Church, is a pretty impressie 1-6. I could deal with Reyes, Beltran, Delgado, Wright, Abreu as well.
Nick Evans will always have a special place in my heart and i wish him a long successful career as a Met. He made his debut on May 24th, 2008 in Colorado and hit 3 two-bagers. I’ll never forget that because it was also the day my daughter was born and my wife and I (more me) watched it from the delivery room!
Let’s Go Mets!
There’s something wrong about that.
Not if they named her “Nicki”
I was pushing for Shea, but we decided on Ava. :)
If you bought into the “Nick Evans will be a Star” koolaid drinking, then you are beyond hope.
Nick Evans will NEVER hit 20 HRS or bat 300. He is a puch and judy hitter who is at best a utility player not even worth being in the same sentence with Benny Agbayani!
Unfortunately I agree with you. If he has any trade value at all, I would try to get rid of him now.
Sooooo, he did or didn’t; make up your mind! o.O
Though this is very Alou-like.
