That makes absolutely zero sense. The point is getting younger, not trading away talented youth with upside for aging players.

Look at the Rays and Marlins.

Um...by "we" I think he means, you know, the Mets. The team he owns. Relax, I don't think he's seizing the reins away from Omar at the winter meetings. I've never seen so much meaning read into a pronoun before.

How many guys have the mets drafted who were supposed to be the next big thing. Who knows, the kid might turn out to be great. But he's pitching in the minors and is 18 years old. Do we get better now or do we wait 3 or 4 years for this kid to maybe make the majors. As a fan I'm all about today and now. If we have minor leaugers who are close to helping the major league team I'm all for keeping them. But to hold onto a kid who usia far away I think is crazy if you can make the team better now. Who knows what this kid will be?

The Radio stations down here are poo pooing this trade as it looks like the Braves gave up Flowers, which most fans don't really like...On the other hand all anyone down here can talk about is football so I guess nobody really cares...Go Gators.

Snell def has the talent, I've had him on my fantasy team and have tracked him for a while. I'd welcome Snell and give him Ibanez's key to the city (sorry kingman).

Snell is an interesting piece. And it is possible for pitchers with talent to rebound from a bad year and post a big year the next.

Look at what's Cliff Lee (?) on Cleveland (won the Cy Young). Didn't he stink in 2007 (get sent down, etc.) and even in ST 2008 he was supposedly on the block, getting dumped, etc.

Not that Snell is going to do that, but he could easily pull an Ollie in a new situation and reclaim the talken he showed before.

If gotten cheapish, I take a chance on him. Not much to lose.

I am still thinking more and more Sheets is the big SP to get, and Wolf would be fine to pair with him. Or Marquis. Either on as the 5th starter will give some stability. Snell could fill that role too, or slot into the pen as a long/swing guy.
