If the Mets get Jenks, does that mean KRod is out of the picture?

  2. shannon says:

    tomorrow is matt’s birthday.

  3. rustyjr says:

havent seen a new confidence poll since 2 weeks ago – i guess s matt is a little leery on polling us right now lol and god knows mistermets needs to be poled lol

  4. vic79 says:

    hmmmm

I would not be apposed to F-Mart , Castillo, Heilman for Dye, Jenks………….

it would be tough to give up F-Mart but for some reason he seems to be forgotten right now……

I would Imagine Church would be involved here too

They can do alot of things if they make this deal……….move Murphy to 1B and send Delgado in for tons of relief help

I also saw somebody say Baldelli for the OF and I would be cool with that too

it’s going to get interesting next week!, about time!!

    • I said Baldelli..this way he can platoon w/Murphy and Tatis is a strict PH utility guy…….I think hes a better option cuz he will be cheap compared to the other RH OFs…..and we can still afford Krod and bullpen signings..and still trade 4 Street.

      Reyes
      Church
      Wright
      Beltran
      Delgado
      Baldelli
      2 headed monster (C)
      Castillo

      Tatis/Cancel/Endy/Pagan

      Santana
      Ollie
      Pelf
      Maine
      Sheets/Penny/??????

      Krod
      Street
      Guardado/Cruz
      Sanchez
      NoShoe
      Smith
      Stokes

Not bad..but why dream big..Id rather be surprised if we sign better than this.

      • iluvbuckner says:

oh the mets have PLENTY of money for that lineup!

      • oleosmirf says:

i love how Ollie is the #2 SP and Sheets is the #5.

      • Dr. Alan Lans says:

Baldelli is a walking medical catastrophe waiting to happen. He can’t be more than a bench player at this point with his condition. He’s lucky to still be a professional athlete

    • jaydh says:

FMart may be forgotten to you, but not to me. He’s obviously not ready, but I also don’t think he’s too far off, late-09 or 10 callup.

Why trade FMart when you can sign FRod? Sure you lose a 1st, but that 1st is not going to be better than FMart. The Jenks/Dye deal makes zero sense as Chicago is looking to scr-ew someone over for Dye.

      • oleosmirf says:

K-Rod is too old, injury prone, and not good enough to get a 4 year deal…

        • mark4212 says:

He’s 26. How old is he supposed to be 16?

when did 26 become too old. He will be 27 in January.

Wow i guess time to move on from Wright and reyes. they will be 26 next season.

        • oleosmirf says:

          sarcasm…

        • mark4212 says:

Wasn’t sure… After some of the people on this board’s posts the last few days….

        • oleosmirf says:

but seriously it makes so much more sense to sign Fuentes. Sure he’s a bit older, and he doesnt strike out as many batters, he was bad in the playoffs and lost his closer job, his ERA is higher, but his whip is .1 points lower, and hes only gonna cost us 3 years instead of 4 and it will save them around 5 mil a year.

so we can’t be like the Yankees who went to playoffs 13 years in a row and sign the best player available b/c we can’t go the extra year and spend an extra 5 million per for a 26 million dollar superstar closer

        • rustyjr says:

sarcasm – its whats for dinner :p

      • Two-By-Four says:

In the few times I have seen FM hit he brought to mind a young Don Mattingly. Mattingly started as a line drive hitter with power to the gaps and when he turned 23 the power numbers started to climb.

  5. Kellman says:

Dealing for Dye/Jenks is a bad idea. Much better way to go about filling those holes.

    • oleosmirf says:

well hey if we traded Castillo, Heilman, Show and Marlon Anderson for Jenks and Dye then that would be something.

too bad Bush doesnt run the ChiSox…

  6. steadyeddie says:

as long as we signed Andy Green, I’d say Omar has had a successful off season.
I say we go with what we got
    bARTENDER…

  7. phukthephills says:

think about it…the mets refused to give up fmart for santana…they would never give him up for jenks…all this talk (if there really is talk) is to drop krod’s price

  8. Dr. Alan Lans says:

I’d rather keep FMart than trade for these two. Dye is solid but why not look at some other options out there. Personally I’d love to see Manny in left for a few years.

    • rustyjr says:

agreed btw doc why does it hurt when i pee???

      • Dr. Alan Lans says:

that’s not a good sign son..

      • Two-By-Four says:

You don’t need a Doctor to diagnose that. It’s obvious you were with Plaxico Burris and there were two shots, the first shot got him in the thigh and the second got you in a different spot. :)

        • steadyeddie says:

you got the Art Shamsky fever and the boogie woogie flu, rusti-j

        • rustyjr says:

now i know how joe felt in that frank zappa opus – joes garage btw doc i think i got it from the toilet seat it jumped right up and got my meat lol

      • mr.gee21 says:

Stop peeing on the electricity socket.

    • phukthephills says:

i agree…manny in left for 2 or 3 years…then fmart would be ready for the job…remember everyone FMART IS 20!!! that is very young…he cant even legally drink yet…give him some time (that would be funny if the mets clinched something and had all the champaigne and fmart had some)

      • rustyjr says:

damn i likede drinking illegally when i was below 20 – lamours in brooklyn – my halcyon days lol

        • kingman 26 says:

At the bars in Newark in my high school years in the 80s, you really could buy anything if you could reach over the counter with cash….

  9. Airfeet says:

Dans is filthy…too bad hes not going anywhere

  10. whatdatmean says:

i think this works and seems likely…
    1.trade kunz + carp/other for dye[hight rbi, avg, hr!!! + a winner]
    leave jenks out…declining #’s and power…not good
    2. trade church + prospect for sonnestine/jackson….not that i want to move church, but it just makes sense
    3. trade, as rumored, heilman+ feliciano for street
    4. sign OLLIE-gotta keep that crazy guy. he’s got the goods
    5.sign Hoffman-servicible + cheap for 1 year
    6. trade schneid or castro…sign PUDGE[contact hitter, good avg, winner]

    1-reyes, ss
    2-beltran, cf
    3-wright, 3b
    4-delgado, 1b
    5-dye, rf
    6-murphy/tatis, lf
    7-pudge, c
8-castillo, 2b [yes, we are stuck with him]
    SP-Santana, Pelf, Ollie, Maine, Sonnestine/jackson
    RP-show, smith, sanchez, stokes/figgy, 1FA, 8-street, 9-hoffman

that is my ideal situation, being REASONIBLE…

  11. whatdatmean says:

    i would too…
i think the Mets are going to pinch down a little and only invest in SP vs big money for closers
it strikes me that they have a big target in mind for when delgado comes off the books and if they can move castillo
    not sure who though
otherwise, offers should be in both k-rod and fuentes hands
AND…id be throwin blank checks at Manny and TEX

how do you not take all the money and sign Tex????

  12. Gland says:

I don’t think they are going to sign Tex, but is it possible they want to save money and trade for a closer and then sign Manny?

  13. oleosmirf says:

TEIXIERA IS NOT GOING TO THE METS

sorry for the caps but seriously the mets arent giving him 150 mil over 7 years if we could even get him for that, not when we have other major needs like #2 SP and a CP

  14. CaseStreet says:

For all that missed the wonderful Tex discussion earlier, click on my name and I’ve given a few reasons why the Mets should.

Basically, it boils down to it makes sense on so many levels it’s mind-boggling anyone would be against it.

    • rustyjr says:

case just like vlad and a-rod tex will never be in a mets uni

      • CaseStreet says:

Just like Beltran and Santana, Tex will be in a mets uni

        • kingman 26 says:

Good comeback Case…but I do think the wisdom of the Staub genes is unfortunately correct here.

Ibanez will grow on you; you’ll see….

        • CaseStreet says:

I’ll make sure to sign up for the MLB package to see Ibanez play in LA.

I’m sure after a while your new man crush will be Rivera; you’ll see…

        • kingman 26 says:

LOL….maybe Mariano Rivera….but I am more likely to think Geraldo is worth signing for big bucks than Mr. DL denizen part-time player Juan.

And you have a healthy man crush yourself there; don’t sell yourself short….and yes, it is on a better player….

    • Gland says:

should, yes. will, i personally doubt it

  15. therealsince86 says:

Ok here is my morning jump start.
    Discuss

    Mets trade: Delgado, Heilman, Fmart
    Rays trade: Crawford, Sonnanstine, Bradford.

    • kingman 26 says:

Good morning TRS…..I would love to have all of them….but maybe is that a bit too much to trade? Reyes/Crawford 1-2 would be amazing, as would having those two arms….actually, now that I think about it that is an interesting deal.

For those not high on Crawford, until this year, his stats were very similar to Jose’s. That would be a LOT of runners on base for 3-4-5 to drive in.

Maybe we could get them to take Evans and another minor leaguer or two in place of FMart….or pay most of Delgado’s salary as an incentive to take less than FMart….but interesting….Crawford is good.

      • stickguy says:

great deal if they can swap out F Mart for a couple of other parts. Maybe Kunz and Evans?

Of course, they need a 1B then. Gee, wonder where we could find one that could become a key part of the core for years to come?

A top 5 of Reyes, Crawford, with Wright, Tex and beltran driving them in? Scary to think of that production.

Then you have guys like CHurch to clean up. And if by some miracle they can shore up 2B and C with some actual offensive talent in the next couple of years, a line up without holes.

    • CaseStreet says:

That would be great but like I said yesterday, I don’t see F-Mart traded for Jesus himself.

  16. NickA33 says:

According to MLB Trade Rumors, Derek Lowe has received two offers. One is from the Phillies, and the other is not from the Yankees or Red Sox. Masarotti believes Lowe will land a three or four-year deal at $15-16MM per.

Great, so the Phillies have already made a move for the guy we all want. I’m not sure who the second team is but you can bet that, if it were the Mets, we would have heard whispers already
