Ryan Church is nothing more then a fourth outfielder for a playoff team. Tatis to repeat what he did last year is asking alot and Murphy is still unproven, so I totally agree with Gina, outside of Beltran, the outfield is weak.

And how exactly have the Yankees been burned by that mentality? In the last 14 years, they've missed the playoffs as many times as Omar's Mets have made it...once.

Honestly if Omar had a bias towards Hispanic players...wouldn't we have had Soriano/Beltran/Manny in the outfield already?

Omar had a chance to grab Soriano when he was a FA...
he has a chance to get Manny now...

Plus I think Nick Evans, Trot Nixon, Shawn Greene...Xavier Nady...and Ryan Iglesias Church are far from hispanic....and they have all put on Met uniforms in the OF before Manny and Fonzy...

Has anyone looked at our internal options at 1B..?

I want Evans and Carp to replace Delgado...

In a perfect world. our 2010 infield has Evans/Carp at 1B...Murphy at 2B...Reyes at SS and Wright at 3B...
Beltran in CF...Fernando in LF...and a good bat/arm in RF

by the way, I dont care about race...I bleed blue and orange when it comes to baseball

Um, wouldn't you? Out of the three hitters, he's the candidate with the greatest chance of striking out, while the other two have the greater chance of making contact. They also could hit the ball 400 feet as well. I know, I know, that wasnt the jist of your post. I'm just saying that in my opinion that wasnt a very good example. But as a Met fan, I wouldnt mind seeing Dunn get up in that spot either.

I think if I traded for Lee I'd keep delgado for the year. I understand Delgado becomes somewhat expendable with Lee there. But with both, that is a monster lineup. Reyes, Beltran, Wright, Delgado, Lee, Church, hopefully a catcher not named schneider, Castillo.

Murphy could be a utility man playing 1st, left, right, second, maybe third so he could still get some burn

Because you still have questions in the bullpen and in what you'll get from Delgado, and being as he's our only legit middle of the line-up type bat that's a problem. Last year we essentially replaced Glavine with Johan and got a very unexpected contribution from Pelfrey and we still only finished one game better.
