The Mets have been historically terrible at evaluating OF talent at the minor league level.

I don’t expect they’ve done better with the THM.

It’s time to trade him before we have to settle on a trade for guys like Church and Schneider.

Don’t know why Matt didn’t post the more interesting part of this article by Sherman which said the Rays basically offered to dump Chad Bradford off to the mets to dump salary. But the mets weren’t willing to eat his 3.5 million dollar salary. THREE. FIVE. If there was ever a sign to expect a cheap offseason, this is it.

Just because a team trades for you and tells you to pitch the 8th doesn’t mean you go out and do a great job–especially if you feel like you should be pitching the 9th.

Look at how many closers have comparatively poor numbers in non-save situations (Mariano and Lidge last year, for example). Closers are closers b/c they have a certain mentality, and for whatever reason, don’t always succeed in situations where they aren’t the closer, just as set-up men can’t all become closers. If there’s one lesson we’ve learned over the last year, it’s this.

The Mets could trade for Putz and tell him to catch; it doesn’t mean he’ll be happy and productive.

Putz and a salary dump like Washburn (is he any good at all?) is intriquing, as long as the dumpee can adaquately fill a real need (in this case, 5th starter).

All depends on what goes back. If it is something like Evans/Kunz for Putz/Washburn (mets eating money), that doesn’t look bad at all. Looks worse if it is F mart and Neise say. Maybe expand (murphy/M’s catching prospect, lots of ways to go).

Pick up street, sign Tex and Sheets. Or at least wolf.

Trade Delgado for reinforcements (ideally a C or 2B of at least the near future).

That team works.

before his injuries last year, Putz was very good. Probably better than K Rod over the couple of years (other than the gaudy save number).

I would love to have him, the question is, what is the cost?

Well, if the Mets want Putz since he is only there for a couple of years (to not block a closer of the future), then even a better idea is spend a little more $ on Wood, for 2 years, and save the prospects you would have to trade for Putz.

And Putz is not a FA. If they trade for him, he gets to pitch when they tell him to. Even if it isn’t what he would prefer to do 9ask AH about that!)

Hard to imagine Lowe going to the phils though. That could be their budget right there. And I dno’t think they have a cheap option in house for LF.

Man Met fans really are impatient. The kid just turned 20 and he’s a bust.

I would love to see a list of all players who were called up at 19 and 20. I guarantee any of them are pretty good, if not hall of fame players.

Wow give the guy a chance. And if he comes up and hits like .265 with 12 homers. Everyone will be calling him a bust.

I mean Jose Reyes was a bust when he only played 120 games in his first 2 years to the tune of a 260 average.
