Citi Field is impressive. There is no getting around it.
Yes, it feels
a bit like Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park, and PNC Park in Pittsburgh, but all three are HOK-designed buildings so this is understandable. Here’s the thing, though, not once during the two-hour tour did I think of Shea Stadium.
For starters, Jeff Wilpon told reporters that the old Home-Run Apple from Shea Stadium will be on display in back of the concourse in center field, which was good to hear. However, a new Apple will pop up from a concrete cannister beneath the center-field scoreboard.
There are nearly 10,000 less seats in Citi Field than Shea, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it. Seriously, there are seats every place you look, it is jam packed with places to sit, on all different angles, different levels, and with each and every seat positioned so we’ll be facing home plate.
Also, the seats in Field Level, behind home plate, first and third, are all padded, which is nice.
Speaking of seats, they are dark green – all of them. Unfortunately, it feels a bit generic and cold. Like most fans I have talked with, I wish they were blue and orange instead. That said, it does look more clean and consistent the way it is, and it will be the last thing we notice when the place is sold out.
The other dominant color is the dark, deep gray from the building’s structure. According to the team, the color is inspired by the Hells Gate Bridge and other bridge work around New York City. The color gives the building a strong, industrial vibe – it is powerful, which I like.
I did hear a rumor, which I believe is false, that the dark, dark grey could eventually replace the modern black in the team’s uniform color scheme – or, could be removing the black altogether. Also, they may switch to a deeper blue, instead of the royal-blue of the last few decades. However, while this could happen in the future, I do not think it will be next season. Also, I’ll believe it when I see it, though I like the idea and hope it will eventually be true.
Speaking of color, etc., I did not notice any sort of ‘Mets cultural vibe. There is the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, the throw-back to Ebbets, the bridge, and so on, but that is all reference Brooklyn. So far, there is nothing that screams, ‘Mets.’ I guess The Apple counts, but that is more Shea. Of course, the building is only 85 percent complete, and missing decoration, such as banners, flags, retired numbers, and so on, and I assume it is from these additions that such a vibe will develop. I hope.
The left-field wall is tall…very, very tall. Citi Field was windy on the day of the tour, which is not to suggest it will be a hitter’s park, but it’s nice to know the home-run wall favors pitching for now. This can always be adjusted, I would think.
The short porch in right field is intriguing. I do not envy the right fielder – Ryan Church, good luck with that. The view from these seats are pretty cool, actually, so much so that Jeff Wilpon told reporters he purchased season tickets for this section. I don’t blame him. I guarantee it will be a fun time up there.
The thing I like most is the 360–degree concourse, because I can never sit still and I like to pace and walk around during games. The concourse runs around the perimeter of the building, with a footbridge in right-center that home runs will occasionally bang in to. There will be tons of food and drink options out there, including Beer Island, a taco stand, Beer Island, Blue Smoke, Shake Shack and Beer Island, and plenty of places to stop, meet up and watch the game.
Lastly, despite the size, Citi Field is actually intimate, thanks to the lack of foul territory. In a big game, at night, with the lights on, in the bottom of the ninth, etc., and the all of us so close to and above the action, I bet an exciting, electric relationship will occur between the fans and players, even more than there was in Shea Stadium – and I look forward to it.
In case you missed it…

No on the dark blue, for me Matt.
Mets ARE blue. Royal blue, to be exact.
Amen
Some of the early 60’s jersey’s seemingly used a darker blue (at least thats what I can tell from photos) and I think it would be cool…If they do indeed get rid of the black, the dark blue would be a good fit.
Please get rid of the black for 2009! Mets need to bring back a traditional look hopefully it will be in place for the opening of the new shea…. anyone here any rumors for a uni change for the opening of Citi Field?
PLEASE ditch the black. get a blue alternate, maybe one alternate hat. blue and orange please.
I totally agree. I hate the black…
Wounder if a uniform change will be made soon before the holidays…. did notice the Mets website does have a little darker blue to it and has no black on it
I wonder if there will be a beer island?
ya i no is there three of them
Matt’s a little excited about Beer Island…
Then again, WHO ISN’T?!
Maybe they will also have a Vodka Lagoon or a Gin Grotto??
Think of the endoresement opportunities….Imperia Inlet….Bombay Sapphire Bay….
Cut the black, I’m fine with that. Nothing beats seeing those royal blue hats ontop of a snow-white pinstripe jersey with those royal blue letters popping out at you on a 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon start. Gimme that any day.
No navy blue for me, that’s for the team in the Bronx anyways.
Totally disagree with you on the colors, Matt. The Mets are and always will be royal blue and orange. Period. Get rid of the black (especially the stupid amateur looking black jerseys) and spare us any new color combinations.
Best looking uniforms in baseball are the Mets road grey’s with the blue cap and royal blue undershirts. Of course, you almost never see them.
Once in the past 10 years, and what happened? Delgado had like 10 RBIs lol.
BTW- best uni’s in baseball are the above stated blue caps ontop of blue pinstripes for a day game. I swear the blue caps just pop out at you, that’s why that final weekend was special (besides of course the team’s play on Friday and Sunday)
in day games, the orange NY logo really does pop out at you, when you watch on TV
I agree. The only authentic jersey I own is a gray road jersey.
I have to say in this long and dreary offseason after such terrible heartbreak two years in a row; the aniticipation of CitiField is keeping me going.
If everyone is looking for an easy way for forget about 07 and 08, I don’t see any better way than knocking down Shea and moving into what will be one of the greatest ballparks in the game
Who cares if it ***looks*** like there are tons of seats. They don’t actually exist! The capacity of this park, in NY, is a complete, utter joke and the Mets should be ashamed of themselves for taking the taxpayers money to build this thing then shutting most of them out with a corporate stadium with that capacity and absolutely ridiculous prices.
Good point.
Dont over exagerate Shea stadium always had tons of empty seats on top even during the final stretch in Sep. I would look up and it was empty.
No one is holding a gun to your head to buy tkts, if its not in your budget dont go.
Seriously. I’m getting so annoyed hearing this arguement over and over. I had season tickets this year and the only games for which the stadium was filled was opening day, the yankee games and the final game at shea. There were at least 10,000 empty seats at every other game I was out including a large number of philly games, 3 in september. It is a disgrace that these games were not sold out, especially considering the large number of phillies fans in the stadium.
As for the price, I paid an average of $17 per ticket for seats in the upper reserve row 5 behind home plate last year. This year I am paying an average of $25 per seat for similar seats (obviously much better and lower down). This is not a big increase at all given how much nicer it will be to attend a game next year. People in the mezz reserve are actually paying less this year if I’m not mistaken.
I for one am looking forward to finally having a stadium that is filled for most games, or at least against our biggest division rivals.
Totally agree, reyesnwright!
If some people here didn’t complain, they’d have nothing to say.
I am honestly dumbfounded that people have no problem with the Mets taking 400 million dollars of taxpayer money in the midst of a budget crisis to build this stadium, and then cutting capacity by such a big amount and charging such ridiculous prices so that many people who paid into the stadium’s construction can’t even go to games.
The argument that the seats weren’t filled at Shea totally misses the point. First, ticket brokers got killed this year and a lot of those tickets were sold. Second, Shea did not sell (until recently) or sold very few season tickets in the upper deck – this is no longer the case at Citifield, where the upper deck is the only place where reasonably priced tickets can be found. Because of that, many season ticket holders from Shea have moved upstairs at Citifield.
Since the cheapest ticket not in that upper deck in Citifeld is $75, for a family of four, you basically have the option to pay $300 just for tickets to sit in the back of the second deck, or more to sit elsewhere. Because your odds are slim for any reasonably priced seat when you have to fight it out with the rest of NY for the 10,000 or so upper deck tickets that mostly are already going to be gone with season ticket packages.
And that’s really a shame. Because baseball in NY used to be a great thing, where kids and families could go to games and you had a great atmosphere of regular people in the ballpark. Now it’s an elitist, corporate game, and that’s the atmosphere you’re going to get. Especially as the Wilpons use the stadium, instead of the product on the field, as the main draw for the next decade or more.
It’s time to realize that NY baseball, especially in terms of the fan experience, has jumped the shark.
Also lack of foul territory = more of a hitters park. Bad job by the Mets there as well.
Blue and orange all the way. I’m tired of every team in the league being black or navy blue.
How about the Mets look like they’re proud to be the Mets? The stadium’s a step in the right direction.
I like the blue hats they wore on the road at yankee stadium. they should use them more often on the road.
i’m a lot more worried about left field than right field.
that wall may end up being quite difficult to play. the mets tend to put a defensive liability out there for much of the game. it now requires a player who can play a well out there.
Agreed of course on the uniforms. I’m a huge champion of the blue. The black is outdated and, as a younger fan (24) that did see good times in the black unis, I still despise them for their obvious ploy for marketing dollars and their lack of tradition. Pure ridiculousness. OH, THE FANS ARE TRUE TO THE ORANGE AND BLUE! Please, PLEASE ditch the black for ‘09. That includes the stupid black dropshadow on all of the word marks.
Also, Matt, please tell me the Mets have some plan to build Tom Seaver and Mike Piazza statues. These two have to be immortalized at this park. As we saw on the final day at Shea, the fans, the franchise and their teammates all recognize these two as the best and most important players in franchise history. A statue for each by the entrances should be a MUST and maybe will counteract some of the Brooklyness.
Perhaps with the Seaver statue mid delivery, with the Piazza statue getting ready to recieve the pitch?
Though a statue of Mike during his follow thru would be very nice too
about the seats. i dont care about the color, they could be pink for all i care. what i care about is the lack of box seats. i hate the way the rows are structured. i dont like sitting in a of a row of seats 20-30 wide, having people constantly walking by. even the field level seats have these rows. this is the worst design decision they made, and they made more than a few with this place.
its defenitely not worse than putting tons of poles through seats and boxing off sections of 4…with big annoying poles
The lack of box seats DO take some getting used to but they do tend to mean more seats on the field level overall.
In most of the newer stadia, they have ushers at the top of the stairs back to each section from the concourse. These ushers stop people from heading back to their seats during play so as to cut down on the instances where 15 people have to stand up in a given row to allow some guy to get back to his seat from getting his second helping of nachos while something vital is going on in the game.
Nice job, Matt! I’m very excited. Driving by it every day, I just can’t wait for Opening Day!
does anyone know exactly how far over the cushoned seats go…the dugouts?? and how far back??
I love the black, though. All of my Mets clothes are black (except my Maine shirt that is still in the mail somewhere). Maybe it’s because I am a relatively new Mets/baseball fan and I never saw them without their recent colors, but I like the black uniforms more than their other styles. I really don’t find the (saying this in the nicest way possible) “old school” look of the blue and orange to be appealing (although dark blue and orange is intriguing). Maybe it’s just my generation, which seems more inclined to like things that are black or just dark.
As a younger fan (24) and having friends the same age who follow the Mets, They and myself included refuse to buy any Mets black hats, shirts, jerseys ect… and always looking for traditional mets blue and orange items, every Mets fan I talk to cant stand the black hats, two-ton helmets or the drop shadow.
I wouldn’t be able to stand a two-ton helmet either ;)
I agree, I am 23 and I’ve been a life long mets fan and i want the black gone. Most met memories i have of piazza, alfonzo, etc. is of them in the black unis. and i want my futre met memories of wright, reyes, santana, etc. with the blue caps.
Wilpon, if you are reading this: DITCH THE BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Wilpon, PLEASE DITCH THE BLACK FOR 2009!
I wish I had Mets fans to talk to. I live near Chicago, so there aren’t many Mets fans here (that I know of). Anyway, as an even younger fan (19), like I said, black seems to all the rage with people my age and younger. I don’t buy into fads, but in this case, I actually liked something that was black. My younger siblings feel the same when it comes to Mets’ black stuff. My father (a lifelong Mets fan) doesn’t particularly like the black colors (he likes the traditional stuff), but he doesn’t hate it either (he has a black shirt that actually looks better on him than his white striped one).
I’m not against blue and orange uniforms (blue and orange are my two favorite colors), but I just hope that if they do leave behind the black colors, that the new styles look more modern.
I don’t agree that the Mets should look more modern.
Looking back on when the Expos, Jays and Astros started up, their unis were ‘garish’ by a modern point of view, but they were very distinctive, and they had an aesthetic. Having an aesthetic is an important thing. They’ve been trading their team aesthetics for bland, safe, established designs and colors. All these teams, despite what normal people might say, should return to their roots, and be in their own skins (Expos excluded, since they made the mistake of severing their relationship to Montreal, which would have been better had certain things not happened.)
The Mets need to stop trying to fit in, and need to start respecting their tradition. When you look at the great uniforms around the league, they’ve been stable, maintaining the team tradition and aesthetic. It isn’t about how you can change it up every year, or cram another color or stripe into the uniform.
Yikes! No more run saving, steal a home run -catches out in left field anymore….
New park looks great. I wish it were Spring Training starting next week and not just the winter meetings. Going to be a long, cold winter….
I think it is only about 71 days till pitchers and catchers…..
“Of course, the building is only 85 percent complete, and missing decoration, such as banners, flags, retired numbers, and so on”
31 better be among the retired numbers.
and 17
for TATIS …of course
Jeff Wilpon was just joking about buying season tickets for the RF porch, right?
What can be better then his 5 star luxurious sweet during the games?
Being able to land a few good punches on a Filfy Fan :)
Whoa – I’ve ignored some the ‘company shill’ criticism before for the Metsblog writers before, but let’s see:
“There are nearly 10,000 less seats in Citi Field than Shea, but it certainly doesn’t feel like it” –> What does it matter if it ‘looks’ like there’s a lot of capacity? They they set a record at Shea in 2008 for number of games with 50K+ in attandence. These fans now either stay home or settle for games against scrub teams.
“Also, the seats in Field Level, behind home plate, first and third, are all padded, which is nice.” –> Nice for who? What else would you expect for corporate clients who are shelling out $30K, $40K on set of seats?
“According to the team, the color is inspired by the Hells Gate Bridge … the color gives the building a strong, industrial vibe – it is powerful, which I like.” –> The Hells Gate Bridge is (a faded) red. Would anyone have made the ‘powerful industrial vibe’ connection unless they were told specfically why the theme was gray?
Regarding the possibility of uniform color changes, “… I like the idea and hope it will eventually be true.” —> I have never, ever come across a true, dyed-in-the-wool Mets fan who likes any of the black on any of the uniforms. Incorporating gray would just be another marketing ploy and would start resemble those of the Blue Jays. I have no idea how anyone would welcome a change in the shade of blue they’ve used for decades.
Regarding the predliction towards being a pitcher’s park, with the walls, wind, etc.: “This can always be adjusted, I would think.” –> How? Rotate the stadium on secret underground tracks? Ask LaGuardia’s flight control tower to redirect the wind? Moving walls in/out by a couple of feet make a minimal difference.
I get it – we’re excited for the new stadium. Let’s not go crazy and laud every wholesale change as a revelation.
I’m so tired of this argument. you know those people that are are going to either ’stay home or settle for scrub teams?’ Those are the scalpers that weren’t there last year either. The Mets usually average less than the capacity of Citi Field. Even if Attendance was going to continue to go up, which iht probably won’t, It’s just the fact that it’s scalpers, and there are always, always tickets available. It’s a lot easier ot get a ticket now then it was 10 years ago, because of the internet and scalping, etc. If it’s expensive, it’s expensive. But like everything else in life, plan it out right, and you can manage.
If Citi Field wasn’t there right now, we would’ve averaged less than 45k last year, and would next year. No reason for the Mets to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to build an extra deck that wouldn’t pay itself off for decades, if ever. As much as I’d rather it hold 70k, I’m glad they’re caring more about the fans that are actually there, then the scalpers and the celebrities or the ’special game’ fan that are only going to the big games or playoffs.
And to Matt, and all the other people that like to harp the stupid ‘Ebbetts II’ argument.
Sure, there are some references to the dodgers. It’s historical both to the city (which the stadium is sort of an homage to) and the history of the Mets. The Mets haven’t even played there yet.
The amount of Dodger notes in the park today, is roughly the same amount that will be there when they close the place. The Mets have the entire history of the park to place their mark on it.
The bottom line is my partial plan seats in the upper deck behind home plate will now probably be in the outfield. I now have 5 midweek games, which is very difficult to get tofor a 7 PM start. My guaranteed playoff tix are now an “internet lottery” whatever that means, but it can’t be good.
If they have 15K less seats, do you think they are going to cut out the celebs in the playoffs? If so, I know of a bridge in Hell’s Gate if you’re drinking that Kool-Aid.
And Paris “bought” season tix in the outfield? Did he buy it with the money he earned by himself, or with the cushy job Daddy got for him?
Nothing against Jackie Robinson but if Fred grew up a Giants fan I wonder if it would be the Willie Mays rotunda. How about the Tom Seaver rotunda?
I couldn’t have said it better. I’ve had Saturday seats in the Loge just off home plate for 24 years and I’m through with being a regular customer. I’ve been offered seats in the upper deck or in left field with no right to playoff tickets and no advantage over a first year customer. I’ve bought a lot of tickets in very lean years. Shouldn’t loyalty run two ways? Obviously, the Mets don’t think they need me as a customer. I” do my rooting in front of the TV from now on. Always a fan but no longer a customer.
I’m sick and tired of hearing about padded seats that normal people can’t afford or luxury boxes for fat cats or taco stands or anything other that does not say that I can go to the ballpark at a price regular folk can afford.
A lot of us are fans because we could go to Shea as kids whenever we could. Now they are cutting out whole generations that will not be as engaged as we were who will be uninterested as adults. Bad long term strategy their Freddy.
I heard of someone today that got his Saturday seats in sect 527. By the time us Upper Deck folk get to pick, we’re going to have no choices but fair terratory or stay home. I’ve bought over 2,500 tickets to Mets games over the years and this is how I get treated so the Wilons can have a monument to their egos? I’m outraged.
“I have never, ever come across a true, dyed-in-the-wool Mets fan who likes any of the black on any of the uniforms.”
Hi. Nice to meet you.
(There’s a first time for everything)
“The fans are true to the Orange and Blue.”
Enough said.
DITCH THE BLACK!
It should say “Most fans are true to the Orange and Blue.”
Don’t question my Mets loyalty!
Anyway, if this rumor is true, then I’ll have to ditch the black eventually. Like I said before, dark blue and orange could be pretty cool.
That would throw off the melody!
And, yes, I can question the bona fides of a fan that doesn’t even remember the team prior to the 90s black marketing gimmick.
It’s not my fault I wasn’t old enough to understand or care about baseball before the 90’s. I was born in ‘89 man! You don’t wanna scare away a youngling Mets fan by making him think that he can’t be a fan because of a color, do ya? (although true Mets fans will never leave or give up hope on the Mets, no matter how bad things get)
Let’s forget this whole color stuff. Can’t we all just get along? It’s only a color scheme afterall. The Mets will always be known for blue and orange. It’s just that every once and awhile you need to switch things up a bit to attract new fans/crowds.
“Speaking of color, etc., I did not notice any sort of ‘Mets cultural vibe. There is the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, the throw-back to Ebbets, the bridge, and so on, but that is all reference Brooklyn. So far, there is nothing that screams, ‘Mets.’
How about something that screams “Queens”. I mean that’s where the Mets play right? I understand the infatuation with Brooklyn. Afterall, we would all be Dodger fans right now if they never moved to LA. But the Mets are Queens more than they are Brooklyn.
And making the steel and seats dark blue rather than grey and green would have looked nicer in my opinion and less generic.
The funny thing is the Wilpons are so pro-Dodgers that I think if they could pull off the first ever Franchise trade they would were they could trade the name Mets to LA in exchange for the Dodgers name.
Also the Mets were brought in to replace not just the Dodgers, but also the Giants. Yet there is almost no pandering to the old time Giants fans. The NY on the cap is essentially the Giants NY.
Also when the put the final wrecking ball through Shea, make sure the black uni’s are inside of it. The Black uni’s are a Shea thing, Citi should be a fresh start.
how about an online petition to retire the black uni’s…wait that would require the Wilpon’s to actually listen to the fan base.
anyone notice that for the price of some of the Mets 40 or 15 game packages in 2009, that you could get full season ticket packages for the Pirates at PNC Park (which was the other stadium Wilpons wanted to copy…with good reason, PNC is beautiful, the team on the feild is another story)
What I am getting at is as much as we all love the Brooklyn Dodgers legacy, and we all can agree PNC & that other park in PA are really nice….that fact that there is little that is unique about Citi that screams out Mets.
plus what really makes PNC the park it is is the amazing city views, so we will have to settle for our Citi views of chop shops and the 7 train….with that said Citi does indeed look amazing.
I work with John Lannan’s (Nationals) cousin, and he said that he can’t wait to play in Citi basically because of his dislike for the visitos clubhouse, which he had not too many kind words for…lol…for those who care his favorite clubhouse is the Brewers….mostly due to all the high tech toys they supply….lol

I was in Sports authority tonight (Dec. 6) and I saw a dark grey uniform next to the other official uniforms. Not the road jersey- this was a darker grey and had the script “Mets” on it, white outline, no black. I thought it was an early peak at spring training uniforms but it did look like an on-field, not a spring training. The rumor is true.
Another unique feature about the new thundercloud-grey uniform is the piping surrounding the buttons and collar. The current all-white and all-black uniforms have a blue “rope” that goes around the collar and both sides of the buttons. The new uniforms have an orange rope next to the blue one, making for a thick accent border in some ways reminiscent of the 80’s uniforms. I will hopefully go back and take pictures to share with everyone. If I don’t, or if the uniform is not there if I go, this detail will prove I;m telling the truth.
All that being said, now that it’s time to decide, where to sit? The left field porch on the excelsior level or the infield boxes on the Promende Level? Help!!!!!!!!!
It looks too grey and black. I pine for color. Orange and royal blue, specifically. Maybe in fifteen years when they give it a make-over. It is so dark, the orange foul polls look out of place.
I HATE the asymmetrical outfield wall, especially that dangerous cut-out in right-center. That’s just ugly.
Good riddance to the box seats. They were painful to get around. I love the cup holders and aisle logos.
I hope a new Home-run Apple is used, instead of the old grade-school paper-mache project they had over at Shea. Put the old one out on display for people to touch.
The Mets have had some image problems over the years, and I think it’s a good idea to get it straight.
As for the choice of blue, from the Dodgers of course, the blue the Dodgers use is a great, and normal, choice because it blends so well with anything you might wear. The Mets used to use that blue, based on the old 1960s photos. Somewhere along the line, they went from a royal blue to an electric-sorta royal blue, brighter, and I for one think that was one in a series of mistakes. (The others being racing stripes, shadow lettering.)
If they could just go back to their incipient uniform, that would at least be a step in the right direction. Better yet really would be to do that, plus ditch the pinstripes. They were intended to represent the Yankees but – guess what – we have the Yankees in the Bronx who represent the Yankees just fine. Sticking with a representation of the Dodgers and the Giants is, in my view, very good taste.
I just posted that that the Mets should go back to their original uni and shade of blue.
But, I must say, I would take thinks a lot more further. I would play some games each year at the Cyclones’ stadium, in Brooklyn proper, wear the ‘B’ on the hat, and do the right thing by that tradition. And call themselves the Brooklyn, NY Mets. I think that would be choice.
I’ve travelled many times as far north as Maine, and would you believe that I see Cyclone hats all over the place. People want Brooklyn represented in the major leagues again. On quiet weeknights, play at Coney Island with the “B”, and have the Cyclones enjoy playing a night or two in city field. More than an exhibition, a real statement that Mets really do represent Brooklyn. This will give them the cachet they’ve been missing.
Very choice idea!!!
Now I’m clogging the basepaths, but one more thought, different point of view. Let’s say the Mets were to keep blue, black, and orange, for marketing purposes, honoring the Giants, or what have you.
If that’s the reality, then my advice changes to this: drop the garish superimposition of outlined and drop shadow lettering. I can’t see what anything says.
And if orange is such a problem when people are out and about, why not a hat without orange?
as a die hard mets fan i have to say im extremely disappointed about the deduction of seats at citi field and the fact that shea will not be represented in any way. also, green seats wilpon, WTF??? the seats should be blue, even the phillies have blue seats for crap sake.
as for the uniform situation…. as a younger fan i see that my generation likes the black uni’s very much and i did as well. but i have reconsidered this opinion and now i want the mets to ditch the black. WE NEED ORANGE AND BLUE COLORS ONLY!!! the blue hats should be the only hats, blue socks and undershirt wit each uniform. if the wilpons add this gross grey jersey or make the blue darker i will flip the f@#k out. AS METS METS FANS WE BLEED ORANGE AND BLUE, NOT NAVY, GREY AND BLACK…. CUT THE CRAP WILPONS
I am a new generation of Mets fans under 21 so I do not cling as much to the Dodger and Giants roots as other Mets fans do. I feel that us taking on the colors of royal blue and orange are enough to keep the Dodgers and Giants alive in the city. I dont see the sence in rotundra built for a Dodgers player. Understandbly I respect and love Jackie Robinson for not only his play but his triumphant battle to get into the big leagues and stay there. However the fact of the matter is he’s a Dodger. The same way Henry Aaron is a Brave not a Brewer same town different team.
