Relief Pitcher: Mets to make an Offer at Meetings
In a post to 1050 ESPN Radio, Andrew Marchand writes, ‘The Mets will ‘probably’ make an offer to a closer, during next week’s Winter Meetings,’
according to an executive with knowledge of the team’s thinking.
Last week, multiple reports wrote that the Mets will meet with the agent for Brian Fuentes and Francisco Rodriguez next week.
…well, i would hope so…let’s go…i hope it’s K-Rod, all while working on a deal for a pitcher like Huston Street, who has experience as a closer…
…again, i’m willing to bet J.J. Putz is the team’s first choice, because a) he has tremendous stuff, and b) his the most affordable…however, the competition for putz will be steep, assuming the M’s even make him available, and any player needed in a deal for him will likely be needed in a deal for a starting pitcher, or street, or some one like that…
…also, the longer the Mets need to wait on Seattle’s decision to even trade putz, the more time goes by in which a team like the Brewers could jump up and grab rodriguez…
…it’s time to make a decision, gentlemen…pull the trigger…
Marchand also offers information on whether the Mets will pursue one of Manny Ramirez, Bobby Abreu and Adam Dunn.
