(24) zen, I like a lot of what you’ve listed there, but I have a few quibbles.

1. A 6 member bullpen seems unlikely, would need another lefty I think. Guardado? I’m not a Beimel fan.

2. I think even if the Mets offered the Padres the top 5 prospects in the system, it wouldn’t matter because Peavy has some control over it and doesn’t want to pitch in NY according to multiple reports.

3. Garland, a perfectly reasonable 5th starter I agree, made $12 million last year, so $9 mil per is too little, and if you were indicating $18 mil per that’s far too much.

I agree, when I see Jenks’ name in any rumors all I keep thinking is that there must be something wrong with him.

I can’t think it’s fiscally motivated, as the Sox have all of Jenks, Danks, Floyd and Quentin not yet eligible for free agency for multiple years and last season paid them a combined total of less than 2 million dollars. That would seem to give them lots of financial flexibility, especially with Swisher gone and Cabrera heading out the door.
