That would open the gates for a castillo/ramon hernandez swap, which TRS suggested. The Orioles are trying to clear Hernandez and his contract so they can bring in top prospect Matt Wieters. The Orioles could then move Roberts elsewhere, probably the cubs, and would have shed some payroll for a run at Tex. If that doesn't happen, maybe a trade for Montero, Salty (who is overrated) can happen. Otherwise, Josh Thole had better develop quick... Schnieder out OPS+ed him 87 to 73. Schneider at this point provides better slugging, better average, and better defense by a good margin. Varitek is a safe bet to decline even further at his age.
