Relief Pitcher: Mets and Jays talk BJ Ryan
In a report for the Star-Ledger, Dan Graziano reports the Mets and Blue Jays discussed B.J. Ryan.
However, according to Graziano, ‘The the guy the Jays want more than any other is Fernando Martinez, and the Mets don’t want to deal him.”
Yesterday, Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe wrote, ‘The Blue Jays would deal Ryan if they’re overwhelmed by an offer.’
…as i said yesterday, the buzz from toronto had been that the Jays will trade ryan, but they prefer to move other players, like Lyle Overbay, if they absolutely need to make a deal…
…also, i heard something similar with regards to J.J. Putz…the M’s will trade him, but it will take a lot to get him, i.e., Martinez or Jon Niese, etc…and the Mets are more inclined to solve their bullpen problem in the free-agent market, leaving teams like the Indians to deal with Seattle…
Graziano also describes the scene at the Bellagio and the Winter Meetings, which reads like a wild scene.
