You had to know that the Braves would not like finishing out of it 2 years in a row. They are trying to make 1 more run at it with their old injured lineup.

  4. therealsince86 says:

Sorry 3 years in a row.

    guys i just read this:

“Yahoo’s Gordon Edes surveyed several club officials, and they believe the Red Sox will sign Mark Teixeira. They have the money and a strong relationship with Scott Boras”

why are we not mentioned with him?? and we also have a great relationship with scott boras??

i mentioned before, if the red sox are after a player i might want my team to be after the same player as well!!! OMAR PLEASE MAKE A PHONE CALL!!!! he spend so much time lollygaggin that we’re gonna miss out on the opportunity to get young and instead will over paid for a bum 37 years old ibanez!!!! while the red sox are getting better and better !!!

The Braves are really making a strong push this offseason… I dont where where the $$ is coming from…

  7. Who cares about the Red Sox? Are they in the division? The NL?

  8. Wow, the Braves are in on everybody, it seems.

  9. CaseStreet says:

Hi Alex, message from Omar. He says, “Shhhh… I’m trying to secretly go after Mark. He’s my kind of guy, ju no wat I’m sayin? But don’t tell Carlos yet.”

    WHISPERING:

thank you.. i am more calm now…

  11. mdemaio says:

janss36 – they had a chunk of money come off the books this offseason – somewhere near 60 million, if I’m remembering correctly…no Smoltz, Glavine, Tex, or Hampton…

  12. rigsay says:

Haha, Francesa blowing a gasket right now. Guy gets less credible every day. Hes been saying that CC is the best pitcher on the planet now for months and the Yanks will absolutely get him cause they have the most money.
Now he’s saying forget CC hes not that good.

Does this guy get anything right? Its funny to watch him so frustrated knowing the yanks aren’t the same team and don’t have the cache to bring everyone over anymore.

  13. starz31 says:

threal…they’re trying to make one more run with their old aging manager.

and as everyone else has said…they are rumored on everything lol.

  14. vic79 says:

holy bajesus the Braves are looking to spend cash………….buuuuuuuuuut let’s rejoice Met fans…….the days of Smoltz, Glavine, Maddux and now even Hudson are looooooong gone……….not scared to the Braves as a division threat just scared when they play us cause well its the Braves, hah

  15. starz31 says:

    hahaha Case…

    “You know what I’m saying…umm…you know…umm…”

  16. alex242 says:

“the Yankees will offer around $26MM over two years to Sheets”

I THINK THAT WE CAN AND MUST COVER THAT..

    The devil?

  18. dave27 says:

If there’s anything clear about the Braves right now, it’s that they have no plan.

They want in on 15 pitchers, while holding out on Smoltz, Glavine, and Hudson…looking into older OFs…are they making one last run with Chipper? If they had any brains they’d capitalize on Chipper’s great year and deal him for more youth. Their only young players that anyone should be scared of are at SS and C.

    They won’t be a factor.

  19. stickguy says:

one thing Omar has to be careful of is being to patient. that is, some of the guys he has back burnered, like TB starters or Street, could get moved elsewehre. Or the other team can fill their need without the players he is offering.

That said, manny for 2 years I can see happening.

Lets get radical. Get the new Omar regime off to a big start. I also feel that Omar was waiting for this offseason to remake the team anyway.

I say trade all the farts and waste, and just start clean (keeping the core).

Unload Delgado, castillo, castro, schneider, heilmann, feliciano, whichever (or all) that you can, and try to bring in either top talent or good young players to replace them.

They are all complimentary players, and either need to go (luis) or are on the last year of their contract.

Try to get replacements now and make the team better. Instead of 1 more year of medioctiry or old age, and having to replace them (with nothing to trade) next year.

  20. therealsince86 says:

But how much? I would go 2/30 but that’s it. Unless it includes a 3rd year option based on innings? You won’t be able to get his contract insured and what do you do when for sure he goes down? What if Maine is not recovered and Sheets still goes down?
We would have to bring in Marquis or someone steady for the #5 spot.

  21. stickguy says:

sheets for that money you got to try. maybe he wants to stay in the NL too?

lock him up for 2/28 or whatever, and fill in the rotation with a cheap #5, through trade, internal, or wait until ST to find the best fit.

  22. stickguy says:

trs, at elast sheets doesn’t have a prioresque history of arm trouble. Weird stuff, but entirely possible he can make (at least most) of the season!

I agree though that if they get him, a guy like marquis isn’t a bad idea. With Neise, etc. in AAA.

  23. huge_mets_fan11 says:

rigsay, Francesa actually has said all along that Sabathia is overrated but the Yanks need him because they have no starting pitching. He actually has always said that Santana is better than Sabathia.

  24. jlaz89 says:

Has Sweeney Murti ever been right?

  25. rigsay says:

Even an idjut like Francesa knows Johan is better than CC. Its great watching him bakpeddle after proclaiming it was 100 percent set in stone he would come to the Yanks and talking about how good he is. Now he’s an overated pitcher who is only good because of the NL

  26. Gina says:

The braves don’t really need more youth dave27 they have one of the better farm systems in the NL, not awesome but better than average and with a lot of ml ready or near players.

  27. DWrightUnclutch says:

The Braves already have enough to finish ahead of us

  28. metsfan44 says:

the mets should be in on the talks for Jermaine Dye. We don’t need another over the hill player, especially a lefthanded bat. We need a righthanded power hitter in the middle of the order so we can break up the lefties. We need a righthanded power hitter not a lefty singles hitter. Omar needs to get with the program. It seems the braves are in on everything this offseason and the mets are cutting payroll even though they’re opening a new stadium that will be a cash cow. Looks like another season of no playoffs.
