the mets should be in on the talks for Jermaine Dye. We don't need another over the hill player, especially a lefthanded bat. We need a righthanded power hitter in the middle of the order so we can break up the lefties. We need a righthanded power hitter not a lefty singles hitter. Omar needs to get with the program. It seems the braves are in on everything this offseason and the mets are cutting payroll even though they're opening a new stadium that will be a cash cow. Looks like another season of no playoffs.

Even an idjut like Francesa knows Johan is better than CC. Its great watching him bakpeddle after proclaiming it was 100 percent set in stone he would come to the Yanks and talking about how good he is. Now he's an overated pitcher who is only good because of the NL

rigsay, Francesa actually has said all along that Sabathia is overrated but the Yanks need him because they have no starting pitching. He actually has always said that Santana is better than Sabathia.

trs, at elast sheets doesn't have a prioresque history of arm trouble. Weird stuff, but entirely possible he can make (at least most) of the season!

I agree though that if they get him, a guy like marquis isn't a bad idea. With Neise, etc. in AAA.

sheets for that money you got to try. maybe he wants to stay in the NL too?

lock him up for 2/28 or whatever, and fill in the rotation with a cheap #5, through trade, internal, or wait until ST to find the best fit.

But how much? I would go 2/30 but that's it. Unless it includes a 3rd year option based on innings? You won't be able to get his contract insured and what do you do when for sure he goes down? What if Maine is not recovered and Sheets still goes down?
We would have to bring in Marquis or someone steady for the #5 spot.

one thing Omar has to be careful of is being to patient. that is, some of the guys he has back burnered, like TB starters or Street, could get moved elsewehre. Or the other team can fill their need without the players he is offering.

That said, manny for 2 years I can see happening.

Lets get radical. Get the new Omar regime off to a big start. I also feel that Omar was waiting for this offseason to remake the team anyway.

I say trade all the farts and waste, and just start clean (keeping the core).

Unload Delgado, castillo, castro, schneider, heilmann, feliciano, whichever (or all) that you can, and try to bring in either top talent or good young players to replace them.

They are all complimentary players, and either need to go (luis) or are on the last year of their contract.

Try to get replacements now and make the team better. Instead of 1 more year of medioctiry or old age, and having to replace them (with nothing to trade) next year.
