CC is too heavy set to invest in long term
gtd back issues along the way
Mets are very wise to have secured Johan, who is a physical speciment
Omar; back to work!
Gotta get value for those new tix prices!
No El Presidente's just yet!

@ Darkstar.

We're both kinda right, and both kinda wrong. The amount we can sign is apparently not as high as you thought, but not as low as I thought. Regardless, I hope we all agree that we make the best moves, hopefully Manny + a pitcher, and then make a few side moves to shore up the pen.

Grave,

You're right. We can sign 3, but Ollie does not count in that amount. Therefore we can sign 3 not including Ollie. Manny, KRod + a type B (Pudge?), plus Ollie. Works for me.

i realize that dunn would be the next best possible option..but with that said..if there was a headline on here that read...mets sign manny for two years or mets sign dunn for two years...which one would you prefer...i know dunn would come cheaper but i dont see dunn thriving in new york like manny would be able to...again dont get me wrong krod..i see what you are saying too..

@domosnacks5

That quota of 8 was from 2006 based on the total that year of 93 Type A & B free agents. This year the total is 52, so the quota should be 3.

By the way I should attribute that article to it's author, Keith Law of ESPN.

I'm not 100% sure about this despite my research, but anyway my unofficial count from MLBTR of both Type A & B free agents combined is 52, so if my math is correct that means the Mets can sign 3 total Type A & B free agents, plus one more if they lose Oliver Perez. Also they are free to sign as many of the "other" (non-Type A & B) free agents as they like.
